Clean, comfortable and in the center of Bochum.

A lovely little hotel in a beautiful old half-timbered house. The rooms are clean and perfectly adequate for a few nights if you're not expecting a 4 or 5-star hotel.
The location is simply ideal due to its proximity to the train station, the old town, the zoo, the planetarium, and the musical theater, and that alone makes it worthy of this rating. Everything is within walking distance and located within a radius of about one kilometer as the crow flies. What more could you want?

We expected more based on the photos and reviews on booking.com. We booked the hotel for a weekend as part of a father-son trip.
The rooms are basic and very clean. But I have a different understanding of what a hotel should be.
More like a hostel.
The reception is only staffed from 2 pm onwards. On the positive side, even though we arrived at 10 am, we were greeted very warmly and let in. They went to great lengths to explain the layout to us.
Location-wise, it's in a residential area, with a bit of a walk to the bus stop and about 20-25 minutes to the city center.
Overall, we were quite satisfied. However, at around €210 for two nights for two people, I don't think the price is very reasonable.
Update after feedback from the hotel:
Due to the gaming convention in Essen, prices for this weekend were increased at many hotels in the region.
Three stars, then, due to the different expectations already mentioned.
Still recommended.

Very nice, quaint hotel 😀.
The room is clean and tidy, very nicely decorated 😊.
It's quite quiet and surrounded by greenery despite being in the big city.

The hotel is very quiet. Nevertheless, it's a 5-minute walk to the Planetarium, about 10 minutes to Starlight Express, and 20 minutes through the beautiful city park to the German Mining Museum.
The rooms are comfortable and functionally furnished. Our two double rooms had a shower, toilet, and sink in the room. We slept comfortably and peacefully.
The breakfast is simple but good. According to our children, the eggs are the best in the world.
The service is courteous and friendly.
The building is a period building. The rooms are accessible via the charming wooden staircase.
We would happily recommend the Hotel Antoni.

Very warm, nice and not intrusive

We spent the weekend in the Starlight Express, very friendly welcome, clean room, breakfast everything was available, vending machine in the hallway, shortcoming the vending machine only accepts small change Express is only a quarter of an hour, we can recommend it.
