Staff was courteous and friendly, rooms were clean. Breakfast area clean and food was nice. Location, though... haha. Well, let's just say I woke up quite a few times from the train noises.

Room are decent and people are nice, but €18 for breakfast that have little choice of €7 for a bottle of water is a bit much. Also right now (2024) it’s construction right outside, so if you need want to nap during the afternoon, it’s a bit annoying.

Me and my dad just stayed here during the euros. Absolutely amazing hotel. Clean rooms and showering facilities were above and beyond. Reception staff were so helpful always on hand for information and extra towels and pillows etc.
The bar tender Antonio was an exceptional worker and should be commended for his work ethics and service. Nothing was too much. He worked great under pressure when the bar was busy and still gave everyone an outstanding service.
Highly recommend staying here if your visiting germany it is 10 minutes from the train station and the massive square which has loads of bars and restaurants.

Stayed here for one night for a concert. It was clean, quiet, had good AC and is a short walk to the main Essen train station, so ticked all of the boxes.
I have removed one star because we asked the hotel to arrange two taxis for my friend and I who were heading to separate airports. In both cases, the price estimate given by the hotel was significantly lower (by about 40%) than what the taxis ultimately asked us to pay. Given we were travelling to airports and in neither case hit any discernible traffic, this was very frustrating. It was also 40% higher than the taxi fare for the exact same journey the day before (when we did hit traffic!). Either the hotel is not being realistic in its price estimates or the taxi firm they are using is taking advantage of customers, in which case the hotel needs to reevaluate who it is sending its customers to.

The room is nice and clean, The air conditioning and heating system is excellent, the bed is wide and not high, there is no water kettle for tea, check out of the hotel at 11! They did not alert us to that, and they open the door of the room on you while you are in it!
If you enter the breakfast buffet a little before closing, the staff will wait for you to finish your food while looking into your eyes, alerting you to the remaining time and rushing you to eat!! Or they will ask you to take your plate and eat at the hotel entrance!! Unprofessional behavior from the restaurant staff. In the end, I am a customer and I want to eat in peace. I paid for breakfast and I do not deserve to see your upset features or your complaining about my late arrival.. The staff can eat while I am there and I will not ask them for any service other than leaving me alone!! Very annoying ....

Spent 4 nights here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place to stay.
Many would say this hotel is near the station but small sized me with my big luggage on a rainy afternoon still found it quite a struggle to get to!
Hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, and made my stay pleasant. Room was clean
I constantly needed hot water to drink and the staff helped me to fill my flask up at the reception. Eventually on the second day I was given a kettle to take to my room and that made things much easier.
Breakfast was lovely and tables are aplenty even on busy mornings.
Limited parking available at €12 per night, we made sure we were back early to secure a spot.

If you're from the UK and familiar with premier inn, this is similar (although a bit better as the heating/cooling actually works). Breakfast is in the hotel on the ground floor, with an excellent selection of food.

Room is very compact. There is no kettle in the business room. It is a basic room and a good location about 10 minutes walk to the city center. Staff members are very helpful. The room price is very reasonable.

Great hotel. My wife and I had a great stay.
We were greeted very friendly and the receptionist was very helpful. She was super friendly to us. The rooms were very nice and clean. The breakfast was very satisfying. As a newly married couple, we felt very comfortable, and the service was great. I would have one flaw, unfortunately there are no harder pillows. The receptionist was so nice and gave me an extra pillow.

No fridge and no window that you can open to get a bit of fresh air. I was told it was because of traffic noise, unfortunately I could still hear it all the time.
