We stayed here with a large group of adults plus a few little kids for our annual get-together-weekend. Location The guest house lies very conveniently located in Kirchzarten just a short walk to the train station with a bakery opposite the street and there's a little cafe (Solar Café) for nice breakfast or cake right at the entrance. Everything was great! Location is quiet and clean, personal is nice, and breakfasts are delicious.

Breakfast was the best part of this hotel, and the staff were really friendly. Overall our stay was ok, the rooms at not at all sound proof and through no fault of the hotel a man was shouting in the middle of the night and kept me up, then there’s the 7am church bells. If you’re a light sleeper I’d avoid, if not give it a stay!

The comfort room is very clean and the terrace is wonderful. It took only 15 min. to Freiburg downtown. The surroundings of the hotel is quiet. I will definitely visite again this hotel, if I would come to Freiburg!

Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig und stilsicher und trotzdem modern eingerichtet. Den covid-19 Bestimmungen entsprechend war das Angebot eingeschränkt, es hat jedoch an nichts gefehlt. Ein großes Dankeschön an die Wirtsleute, die trotz Todesfall in der Familie das Angebot aufrecht erhalten haben.

Very good food and a nice Schwarzwald-style place

Nice restaurant with typical food. It's a good place to stop during your trip or after a long day of hiking in the black forest. So if you are looking for good food, friendly service, great drinks, and cosy atmosphere, don't miss this place. It is always full of local, so better make a booking before getting there.

Always a good stop ... especially for a little Rumpsteak 🤠 even though you're talking about 400g roundabout.

The single room is very small but comfortably furnished. The hotel location is central and relatively quiet. The breakfast offering was good and sufficient. I found the price level of the restaurant to be too high.

I tried two dishes. The "Rahmschnitzel" and the "Rostbraten". The schnitzel was way too dry and the cut was too thin, but the "Rostbraten" was excellent. The restaurant is expensive and the portions are relatively small. The restaurant is special because there are many employees with a disability. The waiters are very friendly and often happy.

Cosy, cosy in the winter super in the summer. Lovely rooms, helpful staff, and the food, well come and try it this is our third visit. These fotos are not far from the hotel. Even though there is a station you cannot hear the trains. Food? All sorts available, for your small appetite, to your hunger has been met.

Good food with some dishes that are not as boring as usual with a twist. The menu is short but has enough for Veggies too. Staff was friendly, food took a little longer but still OK. Makes sense to book a table in advance.

Lovely Boutique Hotel Our room was lovely, spacious and clean. The service was excellent. Only concern is the room was warm and the giant window only opened a crack. The room did have three fans, which we used all night. Other than ventilation, it’s a great boutique hotel!

We enjoyed our stay. Nicely renovated, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet. The nice surprise was the train pass we were given upon our arrival and the close proximity of the train station. We took the train into Freiberg and it was super easy and better than having to drive and find parking.

I am American, so I am a bit of a burger expert. My expectations are very high when I order a burger anywhere, especially in Germany. The birke burger was so juicy and delicious, I didn't want it to end. I never enjoyed a burger from Germany so much. Definitely the best. I will keep going back to the Birke until I die. What a find!! I stayed here for one night after delivering a car locally. This place is very clean, very welcoming and the food was great. I ended up having a great evening drinking beer and chatting with some of the locals. Thankyou Moritz your hospitality was spot on.

Comfortable in Freiburg The evening front desk clerk that greeted us was friendly. He recommended restaurants and called the restaurant we decided upon to acquire reservations for us. Wish our time wasn't limited in Freiburg, we would have liked to check out more of the city and surrounding area.

Spacious room, but could use a renovation. The flooring was carpet and had some old stains. I would suggest to remove the carpet and replace it with something easier to clean. Also the bathroom was rather old and could use an update. But for everything else it was a perfect accommodation. Breakfast was very good and staff was friendly.

Spacious rooms. Ideal for people young at heart. Since this is a youth hostel, make sure to come prepared with a high tolerance for noise. The wifi is quite slow. The included breakfast is nothing special. The hostel is immersed in greenery. There are many cycling and walking trails through the forest.

Very clean site with the best facilities I've seen on a site! Pitches are tight for bigger vans but a nice easy 40 minute walk in to the beautiful town centre is a must do!

Good place to spend a night. The sanitary building seemed quite new and it was very clean. One of the better showers I have had in a camping park. The pitches are small and it was quite crowded when we were there.

Really liked this site. The check in was with a lovely Italian lady who walked me to the available pitches so I could choose. The site was full that night so I'd definitely pre-book. The hostel-style dormitories were fairly comfortable and include full use of spa which was very nice. Be aware a €4.50 extra charge is made for bed linen and towels. This is a very simple room in a sport centre /complex . The room was comfortable but simple, breakfast was very simple but more than adequate. This is a very interesting hotel because it is in sport facilities such as tennis courts, swimming pool, gym etc. Staff are friendly and welcomed well, telling me how to get and sightseeing spots of Freiburg. In bathroom, Shower and basin are inside, only toilet is shared. So, it was not a problem.

Went there last year, had a room with a king sized bed, the room had a shower but the bathroom was shared with the other rooms on the same floor. The food was awesome and reasonably priced. As a mid priced hotel I can only recommend it. Friendly staff as well.

Very nice location and service

The staff is attentive and kind. The surrounding area is wonderful and you can enjoy your breakfast with an amazing view. Althought the landscapes are great you can't enjoy then from the most of the rooms. It's part of a kind of religious sanctuary so there is a lot of religious symbols everywhere, not a problem for us but it's a thing that some people may want to keep in mind.

It's a beautiful place. If you are a Catholic, you should come to see the beautiful chapel for adoration, meditation and prayer.

The rooms are very comfortable, clean and spacious. They are very good isolated because you don’t hear anything during the nigth. A lovely and cozy hotel that's conveniently near the tram located in the quiet neighborhood of Gunterstal near the tram to Freiburg, about 15 min. Ride. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is generous with attentive service. The drawbacks are lack of an elevator and the tram passing nearby till late hours, but it wasn't too bothereome even for light sleepers like me

The room itself met every expectation, very comfortable and large compared to other german hotels of the same price category. Friendly staff. The breakfast, however was a bit disappointing. A lot of condiments had expired and the room was awkwardly silent. This could easily be improved by serving breakfast in the large dining room instead of the 'claustrophobic' small breakfast room.

I've stayed numerous times at the Black Forest hostel across the last four years; it's always a treat. A cozy hostel with welcoming staff and clean rooms, beds, toilets and showers. The kitchen offers everything needed for cooking but for the showers you need to have your own stuff. It has an amazing hall with ping pong and billiard table. Highly recommend it 👌

Begin with the best, the location of Schiller hotel is perfect, you walk directly into the old city center of Freiburg. The hotel is charming and a bit dated. Cute room in the old building, with the restaurant being Michelin rated 2018/2019. Breakfast was really good, and owners super friendly. The only thing to beware of is, being in the old city, you need to pay for parking 18 Euros/day (discounted by hotel from 27 regular price of parking lot).

My 13-year-old daughter and I very recently spent two lovely nights in this charming old house that's a hotel, just a stone's throw from the River Dreisam, both Martin's and Swabian Gates, canals, and old alleys near the Dom. For the money I'd recommend this hotel. Only ten minutes or so from the main railway/bus station and even less to the Aldstadt. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast very palatable. One would pay nearly double in Freiburg for these amenities.

A superb old hotel in an old upper class villa, packed with original artwork and homely touches, probably what would be called a boutique hotel now. Excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, right on the fringe of the city centre. Note some rooms do not have en-suite bathrooms, but all kept spic and span. A 15' walk from the main station or three stops on the tram.

The host is very cheerful and friendly. The hotel is well situated within walking distance to the old town. There was private parking available for a fee. They also offer a really good breakfast. The room we got was spacious and comfortable.
