Berghotel Rehlegg

Wow I visited already 13 Times and next year I am gonna visit it for the 14 Time to go skiing it's always great and the people are really nice. I like the Food but it got a bit of a downgrade because they had to remove the Jacuzzi from the Balcony to get the Titel of an "Eco friendly Hotel". But the Pool and the Saunas are amazing definitely not gonna be my last time visiting. :)

I do not often leave five star reviews, because I believe they should be reserved for only the best experiences with flawless execution. Well here I am writing a five star review because this hotel has blown me away. The design is rustic and charming, yet modern and clean. There are multiple saunas, an outdoor and indoor pool, food is all inclusive and very good quality and there are so many places to relax. The views are out of this world. Will come back again and again.

I don't think I will ever leave a review that I could say better things about than this hotel. It's truly a small piece of paradise and a glimpse of heaven. The views are stunning, the staff is the greatest group of people, and every single one that we interacted with were genuinely kind and helpful. The rooms are incredible, comfy, high quality, and leave nothing to be desired. The spa is wonderful, the pools are fantastic, and they will even pack you a lunch for the next day to take on hikes or whatnot. This is the second time we have stayed here, and will definitely not be the last. It's a special place, that has not been matched by anywhere I have ever visited, traveled to, or stayed.

Last time we came it was snowing and was beautiful. This time we came in summer and it was beautiful in a whole new way.

All the staff was really lovely and kind! They were outstanding at all times!

This hotel offered an excellent location, fantastic food, a great wellness area, and warm water outdoor pool and beautiful views.
We rented a electric car and had problem with charging, staff help us to use employees card to charge our car, we are willing to pay but the manager said that you are our guest and you deserve it.
We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed and appreciated, thank you very much for all the service

We had such an amazing time here. Berchtesgaden is beautiful, this hotel really enhances the experience. The facilities are well kept, and the staff really do their best to impress. We had some slight language barriers but nothing too bad. We're already dreaming of coming back!

This hotel was absolutely superb.

2 heated swimming pools( indoor and outdoor).2 saunas- we even had an infra red sauna in our room. Lots of walks with stunning views of the countryside.

We have just returned from 4 nights a the Rehlegg and my main emotion is... WOW!

We were after a quiet get away where 'chilling out' was the main intent. In this regard the hotel does not disappoint! The main thing I would say that sets this hotel apart from most others (including several 5* hotels I have visited) is the quality and thought that has been put into its construction and fittings. The majority of it is real solid wood (furniture, paneling, Spa) which looks fresh, despite being in place for 10+ years... I challenge you to find anything made from MDF or Chipboard in the whole hotel!

ROOM
The rooms are wonderful, extremely comfy beds with a special kind of Swedish mattress. Our room even included its own private spa cubicle within the room, which heated to around 40 degrees C along with a UV light system to help you relax, which was excellent.

SPA
The Spa complex is hands down the best I have ever had the pleasure of using. For those visiting from the UK I would say one of the center parcs Spas would normally rate about 8-9/10... but against the Rehlegg, that would now be 3-4/10 to me! The whole facility is extremely well maintained each day and feels clean and luxurious at all times. The interior pool and poolside lounging area has a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains.

On top of this, there are series of 'Relaxation rooms' to chill out in, reading a book, listen to a podcast or just take a nap. Again these are all very well maintained and there was such a variety of spaces (its literally like the designer of these spaces was told 'provide something of every conceivable way to enjoy lying down') to enjoy we didn't have the chance to try them all in our 4 night stay.

Outdoors there is a second pool with outstanding views of the mountains as you swim your lengths. This is accompanied by another sauna fitted with a panoramic window, to take in the views while you warm up. Complementing this outdoor space there is a veranda of comfy chairs, loungers and swings you can lie down in, all accompanied by sheepskins and blankets for the colder months.

Food & Drink
This was excellent throughout with a large variety at both breakfast and dinner. There is a light lunch (soup / goulash / Salad... and lots of variety of cake) served from 1200-1630.

The bar is again a wonderful space, with a roaring fire each evening at its center and well tended bar. Again a record breaker for me on this holiday... the best 'Mai-Tai' I have ever been served... and I have had a fair few in my time!

GYM & Included Classes
There is a very nicely appointed gym just inside from the outdoor pool, which is clearly regularly maintained to a high standard, with water available.

There is a daily class or experience of something included each day of Yoga or a therapy for free. This was a nice surprise, as we were not aware of this before our arrival. We particularly enjoyed the morning 'foot walk' led by Nina, around the purpose built outside facility. There are additional treatments or experiences available from the dedicated treatment spa within the hotel at a cost.

Staff
The final point to make is the wonderful experience provided by the thoughtful and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble to arrange and we were very well looked after when Iva on the front desk arranged our onward travel fro us.

Conclusion
I could go on further, but should leave some surprises for others to enjoy. I am not one to often leave a review for a hotel, but in this instance I felt strongly that the team of Rehlegg deserve it! Our expectations are rarely exceeded but in this case the hotel has done so beyond the best we could have hoped for!

This is more of a 4.5 since there are certainly small things that aren't perfect or can at least be improved.

We visited as a birthday gift to my wife for two nights over a beautiful weekend in the middle of july. For over six hundred Euro we had the pleasure of being greeted with an offering of prosecco or orange juice on our arrival.

All of the staff was very forthcoming, friendly and supported all our wishes. The hotel has an app ready and we used it to order a bigger bath robe for me before our arrival, because I'm quite big and usually the standard bath robes are too small. That didn't work sadly, but after a quick call downstairs to the reception, we were delivered a bigger robe in a few minutes. The room was spacious and very welcoming, the wood furnishings are cozy and have a rustic but high quality feel.

We had a room very close to the indoor pool that's open 24h a day, which was great. Overall though the build of the hotel is kinda weird. It's not too easy to reach certain places (like the relaxing rooms under the roof), because it sometimes feels like going through small, long tunnels snaking through the former bavarian style farm house. While modernized, not every corner of the hotel feels like it's arrived in 2023, which has its own charm, but has its downsides, too.

Now towards the food&drinks: the food is good, sometimes very good but the concept is lacking in my eyes. Maybe it's because of our short stay, and me having high standards - but for over three hundred Euro a night the food wasn't exceptional enough to warrant excluding beverages and having them paid separately.

Breakfast was great and as expected very well prepared. Midday lunch was underwhelming (at least to us), but might be because of the small sample size and our short stay. Neither the Ceasar Bowl (which wasn't a real Ceasar Salad - neither in dressing nor in form), nor the different cakes were something I'd want to try again. The chocolate cake was especially dry, but despite trying the other cakes on offer, too - there wasn't something I'd call a highlight there. Dinner is a daily changing buffet menu, where you can eat as much and as good as you like. I personally prefer dishes to be defined in size and combination by the cook - in my experience that's how it turns out best. The dinner menu was good and had lots of options, but it didn't feel luxurious for me. The quality of the meat and the ingredients was very high and up to what i expect from such a hotel. Sadly the desserts weren't 100% to my taste. While they looked great in the menu and also on our plates - the mouth feel and savoury taste was a bit lacking for some reason. Nonetheless that might be because of our short sample size, which still doesn't excuse it - if they want people to visit again at this price point.

Overall I was satisfied with the experience. We had a great weekend. Comparing this visit with others I think the price is not 100% okay for what we got, but it was okay. Maybe including non-alcoholic beverages in the room pricing would help in pushing the price tag towards a more satisfying experience (especially because the juice and coffee you get included for breakfast becomes quite costly once you're out of breakfast times).

What a wonderful experience! For us, this redefines the ideal and most luxurious way to spend Auszeit - pillow menus, telescopes instead of TVs, a charming staff that immediately feels like family, and a kitchen driven by passion, pride, detail, and quality.

Even if it is only to get a perfect night's sleep and a decadent breakfast, we would recommend Berghotel Rehlegg in a heartbeat.
