Also, if you’re not German, keep in mind that the spa space is mixed AND nude! It would be more inclusive to at least offer some time per day for non-mixed access to the spa.
👍🏻 Beautiful location, and that’s it.
Negatives:
👎🏻 Charging €12 for parking in a remote location like this is extortion, plain and simple. For that price, you might as well expect valet parking and free EV charging.
👎🏻 This „spa“ hotel doesn’t provide free slippers for the spa area — you need to buy some or bring your own. For me, this is a first at a spa, but maybe it’s a German thing.
👎🏻 The rooms are depressing (essentially, if you’ve ever been to an assisted living facility you’ll know what to expect) and the bathroom doors don’t close fully. They also forgot half of the necessities (like the towels for the spa et al).
👎🏻 Our bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and presumably old as it sloped away to the sides. That meant we slept at an angle. Probably the least comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. Wild how much they’re charging for this.
👎🏻 Dinner is essentially a series of casseroles with reheated slop. I stuck to salad and chewy, flavorless fish.
I’m not saying you will have a bad time here — but don’t come expecting anything other than being nickel and dimed at a chain hotel. Essentially, this is a cheap, budget hotel in nice packaging.
We had a nice stay, rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable and there was no noice to be heard at night. Also the spa was really nice, even with infusion (opgieting/aufguss). We were totally relaxed after.
However, where things go wrong for this hotel is the hospitality and what you receive for your money in general. We've paid 250,- for a night. We found this alreay a bit excessive and we expected therefor that it would cover everything for the day/night. This wasn't the case, you pay extra for:
- parking 12,-
- drinks (even with your dinner booked in advance) - think of wines of 8,-/10,-
- flip flops if you forget these
Besides this, there's no coffee or thee in the room, also no fridge for possible brought goods. Everything is done to get you into the bar, where you can pay extra for drinks and foods.
So, nice hotel, great spa. But I'm certain there are other places you will receive the same with the missed horspitality included.
The food was extremely disappointing. Every stand-up dinner felt like they just didn’t care. The fish was dry, there was no real food concept, and it honestly seemed like they were using the cheapest ingredients possible. There was no quality, no effort—just basic, uninspired meals. Even the drinks were bad—bland, tasteless, and not at all what you’d expect from a hotel of this level.
The lack of attention to guest comfort didn’t stop there, despite being a hotel, not even a complimentary bottle of water was provided. To make matters worse, hotel guests were still required to pay an extra €12 for something that should have been included.
It’s a shame because the hotel itself has potential. But without improving the dining experience, guest comfort, and basic hospitality, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you just want a nice pool and don’t care about food or service, it might work. But for a truly enjoyable stay? Look elsewhere.
