Highly recommend this gem of a hotel which sits on the edge of a stunning pine forest. Lady in reception spoke limited English but went out of her way to assist us and make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The breakfast was simple but very tasty and fresh. Good coffee!

Great hotel with a super attached restaurant. Here you can tell that the cook has mastered his craft. Fresh and tasty ingredients are very important here. Were there with a biker group. The rooms are simple, but perfectly adequate and very clean and tidy. In terms of price, you absolutely cannot complain. The owner is really interested in the well-being of his guests and tries to make a lot possible. Food (half board) was excellent. Very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Super nice area. We will definitely be back!

Our stay was very nice, you feel welcome and you get everything you need. Our highlight (besides the great host) was the shoe dryer :). The room was clean and comfortable enough, local tips were free, and breakfast was a great way to start the day. So saying goodbye to the Thuringian Forest was a bit difficult, but the memory is saved. So, the bottom line: you can stay well there.

This is the third time we've stayed and eaten here for the Rennsteiglauf. This year, too, we had nothing to complain about or criticize. The rooms were clean, the dinner was delicious, the breakfast was extensive, and the service was always friendly and helpful! We'd love to come back next year!

Highly recommended: nice reception, clean room with everything you need, including several pillows. In the beer garden/inn there is a wide selection of dishes and friendly service. Breakfast very extensive. Vending machine for drinks and snacks accessible 24/7. Great starting point for hikes, bike and cross-country ski tours.

We spent a week in the cottage. We liked it very much. The Kahl family is very friendly, the cottage is simple and very clean. A perfect base for long hikes for two people and a small dog. Highly Recommended.

There were three of us on the Rennsteig and we arrived relatively late and were immediately welcomed with open arms and a very warm welcome. The food and hospitality were very, very good.

A nice little cozy guesthouse right in the village on the Rennsteig. Good option for an overnight stay on the Rennsteig tour. Also very suitable for a longer stay in the Thuringian Forest. Rooms are very practical. Breakfast and dinner were just perfect. Very friendly hosts. Wasn't my last visit.

We were at a family celebration in an extra large room for events in the hotel which is right on the Rennsteig. Outstanding hot and cold buffet, every extra request was catered for. The Ringberghotel high above Suhl is an impressive building, worth a visit just for its open location! Panoramic views, clean and functional rooms. The food tasted great, the service was friendly and polite. Despite the Corona requirements, the guest feels comfortable and is happy to return!

The hotel is a bit dated from the outside, the staff is very courteous and friendly and helpful. A very nice swimming pool with a warm temperature invites you to swim. The steam sauna is great but lacks a good scent, We spent 3 wonderful days there and thank the management of the hotel and the staff!

I guess, the best place to stay in Ilmenau. Perfectly located. Nice facilities. Super comfortable bed. Perfect breakfast! There is also a parking (5€ for a day), but if you are lucky enough you could take a spot in front of the entrance, which is free at the weekend.

Slept here on our way north. Clean room, but mattresses really not the best. Breakfast was over standard compared to what you can expect in this price class. We were positively surprised. Check in was smooth and a nice and helpful receptionist. Place is acceptable for a quick stop over!

This is a standard German 3-star hotel. Price is moderate, but the room is clean with furniture in good condition. Parking space is abundantly available, breakfast acceptable, free WiFi very fast. Other than being in Ilmenau - which isn't quite a hot spot - I can't fault this hotel for anything really. If you need to stay in town overnight, book here and you sure won't regret it.

The bed is a little narrower. I have the feeling that as a holidaymaker you are not in such good hands. Business people or fitters leave the house pretty quickly. Vacationers like to sleep a little longer and you have the feeling you should leave the house quickly and have breakfast early so that it can be cleared and cleaned.
