Hotel Küferschänke

On the recommendation of friends, we had decided on short notice to visit the Küferschänge. Unfortunately, were not reserved at the time of our Arrival at around 17: 30 already, all of the barrels, so we had to choose between the Smoking room and a rather unloving large table for six people - which was, in retrospect, been a little annoying, because as we left against 18.45 the Küferschänke again, were not yet occupied all of the barrels...just a sign of a good Management in the Service...

To Drink my wife ordered a "lovely" white autumn, who had unfortunately just very average, but not particularly well and certainly not sweet tasted. As a driver I gave me with an alcohol-free beer happy because it usually makes nothing wrong.

For food we had ordered and then the Ticino, Schnitzel and Rump steak, both with potatoes and a small side salad. Except for a few rough green salad consisted mainly of ready-made components out of the glass and/or bucket...not very sophisticated kitchen leaves so...:-/

Also, the main gear could not hold the promise from the menu, "all dishes are prepared fresh". The beef with onions was taken to the point (Medium) and of good quality, and also in the Ticino chips had a good taste. In the case of the sauces, we were but not quite sure whether these were originated out of the bag or self-prepared, especially since its obvious readjustment was not managed with a SIP of wine very good (Sirloin steak with red wine sauce is not my case..).

The roasted potatoes as a side dish, however, were simply a disaster! Lukewarm and mushy, from the fat by pushing and, apparently, either pre-cooked, cooked and/or warmed up - but not fresh! That was very disappointing, especially since the addressed service during the mandatory question of how we tasted, showed no response to our "complaint" and the bottom set with the plates. Good staff is hard to find...:-(

With two drinks, two main dishes, incl. Supplement and two final coffee drinks our bill and then just over€ 40 - not a lot, when in fact, all the dishes were freshly prepared. For lettuce from the bucket, and fried potatoes from the Konvektormat it was us, but clearly too expensive!

Our final impression: The Küferschänke is living more of your ambience as the quality of the food offered, at least with regard to the standard dishes. If you are with the finished products, is the price/ performance ratio is also okay. But fresh food is different, and we also spend more money. But it was more of a disappointing experience, and for us probably the first and last visit to the Küferschänke.
