Where to stay in Boca Chica

Very good family experience and not far from airport, or santo domingo for those that want to venture into the city, or bring your family over.... it is a good retreat for resting, the food is dominican, and it is in the best spot in the boca chica beach.

The staff are friendly and the pool and beach are clean. My room was large and comfortable and the food has been some of the best buffet style hotel food that I’ve had while visiting Santo Domingo. Unfortunately, the hotel seems fairly outdated and my bathroom was dark and needed repairs.

Beautiful property in great location but it shows its age. Many hallways and fixtures in disrepair. They offer a premium dining service that is not that much different than the regular buffet. We had a rest with our family since 02/07/19. drove in the mood to relax, and not look for cons. Therefore, the hotel was satisfied. Everything worked in the room, clean, timely cleaning. Everyone has the only problem with sunbeds, but for one dollar it can be solved. I liked the place

I am satisfied with the hotel. My only complaint is that for two times the same week they gave us access to the room past 4:30 pm .if they cannot deliver the room on time at least they should give some compensation.

I booked the place for my parents, as they had to be at the airport by 4:30am. They had taxis available 24/7 and even prepared a snacks box for my parents to take in the morning. Staff were friendly and dinner buffet was good as well.

Near the airport It was clean, restaurant has a buffet dinner and breakfast that was delicious.

The property is perfect for an overnight stay to or from the airport. They have a shuttle on site to transport you back and forth for a small price. Super convenient.

If you're traveling to DR and are not staying in Santo Domingo, this place is great to stay one night if you do not want to travel at night in a rental car with you're family. I have clients in the Dominican Republic. If I am not going into the city,this is a great location to have meetings . Clients from different areas of the country can come and go without the traffic in the capital, and the hotel is 5 minutes from the airport ,so it is very convenient. The restaurant is very good. Service is outstanding.

The property has a really great seaside location that also backs onto some bars and other ammenities. The Italian owner runs a tight ship with the place clean and tidy. He's also an ex chef who's happy to serve up some great cuisine and share a bottle of red and a chat. Definitely recommend.

I only stayed one night and has a great Caribbean experience: waking up to the sound of the sea (you can sleep with an open window, no mosqitos). The hotel staff is friendly and rather informal.

It says it's a private beach and secure, but it is an unmonitored gate and all the vendors and beggers come into the back and bother you, the workers don't care! The staff was super friendly. The room was very nice suite like with refrigerator, AC, 2 burner stove tops. No microwave. Direct access to the public part of the beach or could stay within the gates. The gates are closed at night till morning so you can only see the sunrise if you go out the front door but let someone know because that front door is always locked. It's not too safe of an area. Not what we’d hoped for. The reviews made this place sound like a hidden gem, but it was just a low cost hotel in a dodgy part of town. The room wasn’t great. We didn’t like staying at boca chica very much… feel like the tourism culture is not so good. People were just tryna get us to cough up as much money as possible :( But the hotel is very nice and clean. No complain. We only stayed one night - the last day before we fly early the next day. Iv been coming to the Calypso for about 5 years now and after reading the other reviews I decided to finally rate it. First of all this is not the United States and you can't compare the service here to anything their. The Rooms which are Being renovated as we speak, are ample, clean and cozy. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Average seedy hotel with prices that don't match the ambience. It was fairly clean however some of the throw pillows were showing wear and tear. Room is sparsely furnished and no drinking glasses provided even though you can refill the plastic jug from a large 5 gallon drinking water jug downstairs. I love staying here. It's not your 4 or 5 star but it is inexpensive, you can bring who you want to your room, and there is security. Every now n then the hot water or shower acts up depending on your room but my overall rating is 4 stars for overall comfort.

Cozy place, despite the fact that we were changed rooms due to some technical problems in communication between the administrators, everything was very good. Clean, no pests, sparkling pool. With wifi and everything centrally located less than 5 minutes walking to the beach. I give it a 4 for the inconvenience of changing rooms.

This hotel was inexpensive but a good choice. It is right across the street from the beach. It is very basic but clean. Has AC and warm water.

This place has possibilities, but was lacking in cleanliness, at least the 2 rooms we had. Not sure if the sheets were clean. Neighborhood is dirty, too. It served its purpose, though.

More can be done in this hotel with such a beautiful access to the beach to the restaurants, I read other reviews there is hot water. Morning time definitely you can bring the kids nighttime its a different story, the seafood around the area is fresh.

Not the best looking place but the hospitality of the owners is incredible. Very friendly and helpful people. And the price is about the lowest you will find in Santo Domingo. The room was very clean and we'll equipped. I recommend and will return. A Uber taxi from the airport is only $4.00 US

Little bit hard to find, but check in was a breeze. Obviously, it’s on a busy street and no one owns a muffler in the DR. No wifi. Might be common for the hot water to take awhile. Nice and big with 3 rooms. Ice in the freezer.

Building is nice, front desk was helpful, and assist you to the room once you get there. There is 24hr security. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Price was not bad for a 2 story loft, decent price. Hotel has a pool and gym and a couple of restaurants walking distance. Would definitely book again.
