Hôtel France et Chateaubriand in St. Malo

The hotel has a fantastic location and lots of historic charm, which really adds to the experience. Our first room unfortunately had a musty smell, but the staff were very helpful and quickly moved us to a much better room. Due to the location it can be a little noisy at times, but overall the team were welcoming and accommodating. A good choice if you want to stay somewhere central with character.

The hotel has a good location in the old part of town, within the city walls, and close to the beginning of the rampart walk around the old town. The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. We had a room facing the castle, but could still see the ocean.
We could drive to the hotel when we arrived, but beware there are times when getting to the hotel by car can be a bit more challenging since the are close to the hotel will be pedestrianized. The hotel provides a voucher for parking at a nearby underground parking lot. This is much cheaper than paying the official rate for a day, and parking in Saint-Malo is very expensive.
The breakfast room is nice and the selection available is quite varied. We enjoyed the breakfast.
The restaurant recommendations were spot on.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and I would consider the hotel again in the future.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Room was comfortably appointed, view was spectacular. All of the common space was equally lovely…breakfast room, bar, reception. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to explore the very charming St Malo.

Excellent location. We paid for parking through the hotel website and it was in an underground car park nearby, easy to use and a 5 minute walk - be aware you cannot drive to the door of the hotel, no problem for us but may be an issue if you have mobility problems. Lovely view of the city and sea from room. Decor in our room was nice and being able to open the window was lovely, but my daughter’s room was not as nice, with mismatched furniture that had stains on it. Receptionists were helpful and efficient. Breakfast was good in a lovely room. The drab corridors need improvement, they let the rest of the experience down

Very nice staff and beautiful historical hotel.

The air conditioning did not work in our room but they immediately gave us a fan which was enough for us!

The location was excellent and they were able to get us an early check in during a busy weekend.

We would stay here again.

Good location with parking

Lovely building and great location. Staff responded well when we had minor issues that needed to be addressed. Stunning breakfast room and also a lovely breakfast though the room was a bit too busy at times We would have liked access to a cosy salon or comfortable place to sit as our room, despite having a wonderful view, was very small.

The listing for this website showed free parking on site. This isn't true. There is plenty of parking for those visiting St. Malo, but the only free parking is over night, 8:00 PM to 9:00 AM, and it is a short walk from the hotel. During the day, all paring has a charge.
The staff was very friendly, the hotel was very nice and the views ocean view from the upper floors are excellent.
