Mercure Saint Malo Balmoral
St. Malo, 24 Rue Théodore Monod 🧭 Map
Big clean rooms with lots of natural light.
Awesome breakfast selection.
Helpful staff.
Very close to the train station.
Clean simple efficient nice staff. All you need for a quick business trip. Next to the train station.
Not the best if you are visiting the old town.
My husband and I enjoyed our overnight stay at the Hotel Mercure Balmoral in Saint-Malo. We were travelling on Brittany Ferries back to Portsmouth in the morning and wanted a fresh, clean, comfortable place to stay with secure parking near restaurants and bars and this was exactly what we found. Spaces in the underground car park are limited so it’s best to book in advance (not cheap at 13 € but our...
Spacious and comfortable room. Very welcoming and professional staff. Good location opposite the train station
Very warm welcome, pleasant and smiling staff. Very well located hotel, 15 minutes from the ramparts. Underground parking or paid street parking. Very clean and spacious room. Spacious shower. I highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent hotel. Shame on the crown, that's why the restaurant is not open. The dining service in the room was, by all accounts, very limited. Friendly and helpful welcome
Location is perfect - right next to the train and bus station. Very easy access to Cancale and Mont Saint Michel by bus. Distance to the city center about 15 min walk. Grocery store and a few cafes around

Grand Hotel de Courtoisville - Piscine & Spa
St. Malo, 9, rue Michelet 🧭 Map
It was a very good time spent there. Staff are very welcoming people and focused on our needs.
Spa,hamam and the swimming pool were very good and clean.
The room wasn’t as expected, too small, poorly ventilated, toilets did not smell good at all.I do not remmend the standards rooms
But the most important for me was the service and localisation of the hotel.
This hotel is located very close to the beach, employees are very kind, rooms are nice, except toilet and bathroom... swimming pool "ok"
We enjoyed a good dinner and excellent Mojitos
We enjoyed our stay here very much - great location, facility and service. Especially impressed by Ms. Yvanaelle who seemed to be handling many assignments at all times.
Lovely hotel, 3 minutes away from the sea. Had a very nice time there. Staff all very kind and available.
Rooms are small but clean, organized, and well decorated. Strangely, the sink is not in the same room as the toilet so you have to go to another room to wash up afterward. Kind of weird but given the tight room layout, I can understand. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide assortment of meats, pastries, fruits, etc. The garden is beautiful, and you're less than 100 yards from the beach and ocean promenade...

Very modern and simple room in the rear block of this hotel. That meant no street noises and no light pollution. Big walk in shower, decent sized bed with small table and good sized opening window. Several charging points for electric items, sensible sized TV with French, English and other channels. Free WiFi.
Breakfast available from 0630 to 1030, continental style with lots of options. I found the...
A very nice hotel, good position, Clean and neat and with friendly and helpful staff. Large rooms with everything you need. Accepted our little dog with no problem
We had a good stay here with our family of 4 for 3 nights in one of the duplex rooms. Unfortunately we faced the back street, not the ocean, but otherwise it was as expected having read the reviews. Two twin beds up a very steep staircase (almost like a ladder) that you have to be very careful climbing (I would not recommend for young kids), a large (king?) bed downstairs and very little room to walk...
The room was modest and comfortable (with a lovely view of the ocean), but the staff were the real stars of our trip. They went above and beyond to help ensure our stay went well. We intended to only stay one night, but we ended up extending our stay to three nights. They worked hard to where we could keep our room, plus we rented bikes on-site for our final day, and that process was incredibly easy
Excellent location and beautiful sea view from our room, which, however, was way too small. Fine selection at the breakfast buffet but generally a poor cleanliness of the room and public areas.
+ clean and neat
+ perfect location
- at arrival I was told I needed to pay another 160 euro for tax and breakfast, though I booked without breakfast. I needed to explicitly say I only wanted to pay 10 euro city tax. This feels like entrapment and thus minus two stars.

St. Malo, Place Chateaubriand Bp 77 🧭 Map
Lovely building and great location. Staff responded well when we had minor issues that needed to be addressed. Stunning breakfast room and also a lovely breakfast though the room was a bit too busy at times We would have liked access to a cosy salon or comfortable place to sit as our room, despite having a wonderful view, was very small.
The bed in room 302 should be replaced. Someone from management should try lying in it and see just how bad it is. I had a terrible night sleep. The check in process was smooth and the restaurant staff are good but I thought the staff who worked the morning breakfast were commendable.
This is a true grand dame of a hotel who has been there for generations. It has the feel of another era. Our room was large with tall ceilings. Our carpet, as others have mentioned, was worn and dated, but the room was clean and we appreciated the space. We overlooked the front entrance to the hotel and the building where the author Chateaubriand was born. Sorry we didn’t get to see the water. It was...
It is a grand hotel that is a bit shabby at present. We had a room overlooking the ocean. The view was spectacular but the room tiny. The hotel's public rooms are updated and refurbished, in a grand and interesting style, but the guest rooms and hallways are very outdated, old, shabby, not so clean carpet, dingy walls, and outdated bathrooms. The staff is very kind and helpful, we were able to get...
The hotel was in a good location and the parking lot was very close. The room was nicely decorated and a fair size. Everything was clean. The wifi would go in & out sometimes but was generally good. We enjoyed the breakfast selection. The bathtub/shower that we had in the room was a new arrangement for us. Would prefer a standing shower.
Food here was sublime. The restaurant was very well looked after and the steak was juicy and soft, utter perfection. Price was good too.

Been here three times now. Only possible complaint is that the heating is too hot!
Bar is good, very friendly staff.
Overall ideal place to base yourself for a stay in/around St Malo.
Booked as part of a Brittany Ferries deal, nice hotel, with good amenities, although tea and coffee facilities in the room were lacking. Good breakfast selection. And a great location. Although the ferry docked at 8am, we were unable to check in until 3pm which kinda spoiled our plans to explore on the first day.

🌟 🤩 🌟 the hotel is clean breakfast is so good!!! The hotel is clean they accommodate you very well .... highly recommended very practical, the hotel is in front of the beach and you can walk like 15minutes to go fortress (but that one is depend how fast u walk) from gare as well its near u can go by bus bus or by foot..
Excellent position, GREAT breakfast for 3 star, comfortable room and beautiful common areas. Special thanks to Anna at the reception that helped us to solve our problems.
Good little 3 star hotel. Nice spot on the beach, friendly staff. No restaurant though, so be prepared to eat out. Good restaurants nearby.
We very much enjoyed our stay at your hotel and found St Malo really beautiful. The location was superb and everyone we encountered absolutely delightful. We would love to visit again.
Old school beach hotel. Within pleasant walking distance from the center. Visited in july and had the beach in front of the hotel almost to ourselves
The view was amazing and the location was right on the beach. The rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was nice with another good view.

B&B HOTEL Saint-Malo Centre
St. Malo, 76 Avenue du Général de Gaulle 🧭 Map
Despite being marked as no smoking the room and particularly the bathroom smelt of smoke. The room was very hot and we were concerned about leaving the window slightly open as the window restrictor did not appear secure. The restrictor could have been disengaged from outside and entry gained to the room. We noticed that for some other rooms the restrictor had been upgraded and looked secure. On...
It's OK for one night. There is no A/C and our room was extremely hot. The window catch was broken so we had to sleep with it closed for security. Our daughter and her partner had a family room with their two small children. It had two floors with wooden stairs, no stairgate, the window was broken and it was even hotter than our room. On the positive side, breakfast was good and the Receptionist was...
It’s exactly what you need for a Quik overnight stop. The rooms are functional and clean and the bathroom was surprisingly large. Parking was available and at no additional cost. I arrived late so completed my check-in using the ATM style machine. I just entered my booking reference and the machine printed out a ticket with my room number and door code.
There are a couple of fast food restaurants...
The hotel is in a good location. The only negative point was the structure of the room. As we have two little children with 3 and 21 months, the presence of stairs without a protection gate is a bit dangerous. Despite this the other points were positive.
Our room had a light directly outside our window. I understand the need for safety reasons but the room should be equipped with blackout curtains so that the light does not prevent sleep.
The kids loved having their own elevated bedroom. Facilities were good and the place was clean. Recommended.

We had a very nice stay at Château Hôtel du Colombier, and would like to thank the management and especially Nicolas for their exceptional service during our stay.
Nice place to stay if you travelling by car.

Hotel restaurant was closed for 2 days...
Staff (it’s actually same lady who doing everything - reception, helping with luggage, cooking, serving...) not really great and willing to make you stay pleasant..
Hard to find. I tried two SatNav and both had trouble. Was frustrating start to my visit after a long drive. Rooms are nice good size and comfortable. Dinner was decent but slightly expensive.
We had a great time!! Nice and cozy, quiet and well appointed! We spent one night in late March. Ate dinner at the restaurant and it was superb!! Wish we could have stayed a weekend!
I stayed here during my trip to France when I wanted to visit Mont Saint-Michel. I must say this place is quite nice if you want to experience what it was like living in the past. One thing was, I felt at night it was a bit scary, like something you would see in the movie.

Fab hotel right in the centre of St malo, the room was nice and the bed comfy. We arrived late and they put the key out for us plus texted a code so we could get in after closing. There were coffee and teamaking bits in the room and considering the location, it was good value
A three star hotel with four star qualities. We requested and got one of the four triangular rooms about the main entrance. These are all over sized and give you a great opportunity to people watch the busy pedestrianised streets below.
All room prices include a well provisioned continental breakfast with all the usual delights which also includes cold meats and cheeses. Good coffee and orange juice...
Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms. Centre of town with all amenities. Loved it!

Very nice location in the centre of the walled city. Friendly staff, clean rooms and lovely and spacious, though the a/c was too effective. Parking is either on street or outside if the city.

We had a great stay here, booked 2 nights and extended to 3 nights. Very well looked after by Emmanuel and his wife. Safe car parking and easy walk to St Malo. Very friendly host and English speaking.
Lovely stay near Saint Malo intra-muros.
We stayed here for the first time for one night, and what a beautiful surprise. The hotel is quite small, and the rooms are not big either, but the decor is very modern and feels much more luxurious than 3-star. The room smelt lovely from the moment we opened the door.
The staff is so lovely, friendly and very accommodating.
We booked the stay with breakfast...
Impeccable standards of hospitality and comfort. The welcome was warm and cordial. The monsieur is an excellent host. Room clean comfortable and quiet. Breakfast perfect. A short walk from the lovely Solidor neighbourhood. Recommended highly.
We stayed overnight before our return on the ferry to Portsmouth. This hotel was a revelation - a great welcome from the owner with wonderful style in the hotel. Bedrooms were very smart with modern en-suite. Definitely recommend the breakfast with homemade ingredients . Peaceful area of town but within walking distance of the centre if you have time to explore
Very friendly service, helpful and polite. I stayed in a room with a small balcony, I loved it. The room was very clean and had everything I needed. Bathroom was small but nice. We were a large group of 12 people, and were wondering if it was going tu work out. It ended up being super easy. The place is beautiful and clean. Be careful in the rooms on last floor: it gets super hot even when it’s not that warm outside. There is an A/C but it’s the loudest ever.
We had a pleasant weekend stay. They read our notes and gave us a room with a "view" and sent us a rose for our anniversary. Very nice gesture from their end. Close to a lively courtyard with restaurants and bars, and 2 minutes from the fortress.
Comfortable, friendly, accessible. Locked garage available, though that isn't wheelchair friendly. Plentiful choice for breakfast.

We intended to get a hotel in the old city, but all were full. Instead we chose the Antinea, which backs on to St Malo's magnificent beach, which was even more enjoyable than the old city. Lovely staff who were super nice even though we arrived 30min before kitchen closes. I got some scallops with chorizo, it was a delight and everything you can expect from scallops. They melted on my tong and the little sauce with lemon was just the perfect touch added to this.
Calm and well placed hotel. The beach is 2 min walk from the hotel, and it's one of the best beach of St Malo.
You also have a small shared living room with a couch and TV and small games.
We stayed there 3 days. The walls of the rooms were very thin. It was extremely loud because of other guests. It's not the hotel's fault, but not being able to sleep was very bad. Opening and closing the doors are making too much noise. It would be better if there was a card system instead of keys so it could be less loud.
