Argo Hotel

Unfriendly staff say no to everything without paying you the slightest attention, it feels like we're in the way.
Only the location is good.

When we arrived, we were informed that our room had been upgraded, which we should have recognized as a bad sign.

As soon as we entered our room, the first thing we noticed was the distinct smell of sewage. The smell came from the bathroom, and looking closer at the bath drainage hole, we saw 2 antennas sticking out, signalling that there were cockroaches. We thought that was that, but only a few days later, said cockroach came out through the bath drainage hole. The sliding door was also not very functional and would close improperly.

The pool's water was murky, and in the deepest part you could not see the bottom. On closer inspection, it looks like that pool lacked a filter, which was concerning.

The two owners (I assume) were very nice and welcoming. Though I cannot say the same about the other receptionist. She was rude, made snide comments and overall made you feel like an inconvenience when expressing your concerns about the cockroaches/questions about car renting etc. We didn’t catch her name, but she had curly hair and worked mornings.

When we told them about the cockroach problem, they moved us to another room, which we were thankful they acted without hesitation. Though, the same evening, I was out beside the pool when I saw the owner walking around in the room we were just moved from with a flashlight. I thought maybe he was just examining the situation to later do a deep cleaning/see where these cockroaches were coming from, but only a few minutes later a saw a couple in the same room looking around. They had checked in other people in the room with the cockroach problem!

I assume they were also told that their room had been upgraded, and the owner hope their clients take as much time as possible to complain and be moved so that they can still use the room.

The conclusion is that the owners probably rotate customers through these infested rooms and move them when they complain, just to do it again and again. The customer service is good, disregarding the rude receptionist. The rooms suffer defects, like our sliding door not working and the lock system on the main entrance of the hotel rooms looking questionably fragile. The hotel says that they will not take financial responsibility over any item lost/stolen from the room, but still requires you to pay for the safe in the reception.
The cost of the hotel was very high for what we were given. A one star for this hotel would be a high rating. The fact that there are so many good reviews makes me question if it’s really the owner putting making them.
