Elena Village in Kalymnos

The view is what makes this hotel. I took off two stars, because; There are a number of steps up to the main entrance. No ramp access. This is a major challenge when arriving with heavy luggage. In the absence of a hotel porter the staff members ought to have offered to assist our party of three young ladies, instead of watching us struggle up the steps with huge cases. Yes, I did notice the two male staff, I believe one being the hotel manager, turning a blind eye! There are no welcome packs on arrival, no information in the apartment. Just handed our key and left to it. The breakfast could be improved. Coffee was instant rather than filtered. Orange juice tasted distinctly like orange squash. No other fruit juice was available. Two types of cereal, just cornflakes and muesli. Various pastries and toast. Small selection of fruits in syrup. Just relieved to have a coffee machine in the apartment. The pool bar and restaurant have a small number of snacks and meals on the menu. The fries and chicken nuggets were overly deep fried, but not something we expected to see on the menu to be fair. We preferred to eat at local tavernas where the salads tasted divine. There are a handful of things to do within the area outside of the hotel, but beware as the road is not suitable for pedestrians. Traffic is a free for all, literally. We took taxis to the main port town of Pothia and also to the local harbour, and took a boat across to Telendos. Also booked two trips through jet2 - bus tour and an all day boat trip. So glad we opted for a private pool apartment, as the main hotel pool seemed busy. It was essential in the hot July temperatures. So nice to cool off in our own pool . Worth mentioning the free of charge laundry room. Ideal for when you need to do a little bit of laundry on holiday. The apartment certainly looked the part. The complex is beautifully designed to look authentically Greek. Stunning views of Telendos. It's an incredibly quiet and peaceful hotel. All I could hear in the mornings was the distant crowing of a cockeral. A truly amazing view from the hotel balcony. If you're looking for a beautiful hotel without noisy tourists then Elena Village is perfect. Just be prepared for a lot of travelling if coming from the UK. All in all a truly special holiday. I probably would visit again, but next time I will be sure to bring my husband to carry our cases and drive a hire car around Kalymnos. Ha, ha .

Everyone is hyping up this hotel but it needs som small fixing. Dont get me wrong, the hotel is still great and the staff (especially the restaurant staff) is super friendly and does a great job!! But some small improvements: the cleaning in the room is not good. When we arrived at the room there was still a lot of dirt on the floors and the sink was not cleaned. Cleaning happened every day but the standard was low. The breakfast was OK. The eggs were cold and overcooked (grey inside) No conditioner on the room? Is this a thing? The balcony in our room (newly renovated) has this huge space but still they only put one tiny table with 2 chairs - why not a outdoor couch or sunbeds? The pool area got busy because people who arent guests at the hotel can come and enjoy the pool. opening hours is 10-1800 for the pool. Still at 19:30 there are kids playing in the pool screaming while youre trying to enjoy a nice dinner. The sunbeds at the pool is also dirty and there is no pooltowels available so you need to buy at the minimarket. The parasols at the pool didnt fold down, and maybe 25% of the sundbeds had parasols which made people go down and put their towels on their sunbed before breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Elena Village. Its still a good hotel＜3
