Melina's House

Our stay at Melina’s House in Kato Stalos was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Crete. Hospitality runs deep in Greek culture, and nowhere is that more true than in Crete. It’s no coincidence that Zeus, the king of the gods and also the god of hospitality (xenia), was born on this island. That says a lot about how highly Greeks have always valued this virtue. It is still an important trait of the Greek psyche that has survived for millennia.

This deep-rooted sense of hospitality is exactly what we experienced at Melina’s House. When I travel, I prefer to stay in small, locally owned places so I can connect with the real life and culture of the area. Mr. Antonis and Mrs. Melina welcomed us with genuine warmth and care. They didn’t just rent us a room, they truly made us feel at home.

Our room was spotless, spacious, and well equipped. We especially loved the sea view in the morning and the peaceful setting, just a short drive from Chania.

If you’re visiting Crete and want to experience something real and memorable, I strongly recommend staying at Melina’s House.

The hosts are warm and welcoming 😎. They even welcomed us with Raki, so sweet of them.

Location is superb, with walking distance to a long stretch of shops, very convenient. It's a friendly neighbourhood. We patronized a few shops nearby and the owners were all nice and amiable.

Melina's House is a loving looking apartment.
Ambience of the house is serene and cozy. Laundry could be done with ease with drying racks good to use.

The host was SUPER efficient in problem solving. Our bathtub was clogged. The host got it solved in no time 👍! We recommend this place!

We stayed here with my wife and my two children.
Antonis and Melina were very kind and helpful.
At the arrival we got biscuits, fruits, olive oil, marmelade and Raki :) It is a very kind gesture.
The beach is about 500m from the apartment, there are supermarkets, restaurant within few hundred meters.
The apartment is well equipped, clean and we had enough space for our children.
We will surely return in the future.

Antonis and Melina went above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay, far exceeding our expectations- but also making our stay in Chania a memorable one. I will never forget our time at Melinas House and the hospitality from the owners. Nothing was ever too much trouble and when coming and going from the hotel we always recieved a warm smile and offer of a coffee or a raki.
The view from our room of the ocean was amazing, and felt very private. There are lots of good places to eat nearby and a beach within walking distance. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, and hope I can return and stay again in the near future.

Great place to stay. Lovely family runs the business and look after you so well. Room is very spacious, clean and has everything you need. We stayed 3 weeks there. Every 2nd day towels and sheets are changed, room cleaned. Sea view at the balcony. Quite estate, after 10pm is really quite. Walking distance to the beach ( 5 minutes) and nearest store (3 minutes). We loved staying there and hoping to visit again. Thank you ♡

nice place to stay. the hosts were friendly and the room was clean and big enough for short stay in Chania. Very near to the small beach! You can also use washing mashine for 2€(? I thnk).

Wonderful staying. Very clean, confortable, fully equipped kitchen, spacious public parking, nice location. Tasty gifts at entrance (oil, wine, jam, nuts, tea) and kind owners.

Nice, warm and cosy place, like a second home. 3 minutes walk to the beach, where is all you need.

Family run family welcome great place to stay ...close to main road but quite
