Where to stay with pets in Makriyialos

Everyone was friendly, the food was good and every part of the hotel very clean. At night it was fun to hang out with Martin, the barkeeper. We had a fun and relaxing vacation and we´ll definitely be back

Ionio Star is an exceptional place. Located not at the center but closed to it with proximity to the bakery, grocery shop and local bar, at the sea (you can swim if you are good swimmer)

We liked also is a freedom - you can stay at the sea side on free of charge sunbeds, you can swim at the swimming pool (with sea water) or simply you can seat at the outdoor restaurant and admire sea

Artemis hotel is a somewhat tired 80's property with rooms that could use a renovation. Having said all the defaults, it is a family run property located literally on the superb beach of Malaria Gialos

Everything you expect from such a place. Food was actually way better than expected. Right on the beach (mind the steps if you have a room on the highest floors) and perfect for spending your days on the beach.

Great beach and just up the road is a lady who sells homemade wine and great figs from a charming roadside stall. The Lybian sea is noticeably warmer that the Aegean sea on the north side of Crete.

Also bring some bug repellent, the screens don't keep all the bugs out at night. It was a great place to fall asleep with the wind rushing down the gorge at night, particularly after a day of hiking

This place is very peaceful and the staff is very kind! You have to try the breakfast with the local cheese pie, it’s delicious.

They offer organic self-made breakfast, products, cool cottages with authentic details (petroleum lamps for example) and the most amazing windy views. Be prepared to take many steps and reconnect with nature to the bone

Cozy, central location but far enough away from the overly beaten path, authentic, good breakfast, super friendly employees, hide-away place.

The cats are charming but don't let them into your suite. Go for a long hike to see the gorge or visit Myrto's shop back in town

Even though we experienced about 50 hours of constant strong wind, so typical of the southern part of Crete, we found time to rent a car and visit many pleasant and interesting places, including sandy beaches in the southeastern tip and the eastern coast of Crete

As an experienced traveler (here I also include business trips around the world), I greatly appreciated the atmosphere of the hotel and the approach of its staff

The evening program for children and adults was also imaginative and pleasant, thanks to the young French artists, accompanied by great dance routines and music

Programs and care for children, even very young ones, were, thanks to the lovely Czech animators, meticulous and enthusiastically accepted by the children

I would also like to highlight the unobtrusive, but friendly and very efficient help of Mr. Stephanos Kaminis, the hotel's Guest Relations Manager

From the reception to the aforementioned bars or playgrounds, it was professional, attentive, friendly, and helpful

Being able to top up your own water/juice at the dispenser was great and I I know that a review mentioned about rules but we very much support this as the Pool restaurant wants to maintain a high standard and we are in agreement! We loved that there was table service for drinks at the Pool restaurant as well

We're still listening to and dancing to the brilliant holiday songs at home! The Theatro pool bar/restaurant and Animation pool/stage are in the same area and there was where we spent most of our time - you could be in or out of the sun which was a great bonus

We even appreciated the quality of the sound and lighting at the Animation Stage - a lot of investment in the place. The programme/activities are well considered and implemented with high professionalism

The pizzas (lunch served here as well as the buffet and then 'pizza & desserts' late afternoon) are fantastic - and we have a pizza oven at home! The staff are incredibly hardworking and professional

The Club Eldorador team are multi-talented professionals with wonderful charisma and incredible skills in hosting. We knew we were booking a French hotel - which to be honest was part of the appeal

But for the first half of our stay we did feel at times a little invisible - if you don't book through Club Eldorador you get a different wristband and I would say this is a helpful tool for staff when engaging with guests

Housekeeping is not quite 5 star, pull out bed not made, no sheets for it, daily floor wash but no restocking but definitely clean!! If it didn't take me a day to get there and a day back, I would go every year

We came here to mostly relax and take a few days off in the sun, but due to heavy winds the first couple of days we then decided to rent a car and explore the beautiful island of Crete for two days

Perfect family getaway with 2 adult sons. Breakfast buffet is unsurpassed. Dj and singers at the pool, on a different level. Even had an accompanying saxophonist one day

- the hotel is mostly well maintained, quality of food and drinks are a 4/5 - the spa team does an amazing job, definitely recommended getting a massage - pool and beach areas are perfect The negatives: - on our first night, we were given room 1101, which is right behind the reception, overlooking the parking lot of the hotel

The next morning we were first offered to move into another room (not the category we have booked but a lower one) and then again move to the room we initially paid for

Example 3: during breakfast we asked for some fresh cutlery and the server literally rolled her eyes when we were asking for it. Example 4: cleanliness in the rooms was fine but the floor was basically sandy all the time

A very good place to stay nice rooms nice breakfast and really wonderful helpful staff would stay there again

Water in the pools is filtered all the time and the guys playing the music know their businesses. Chillout after lunch and live music after dinner. Very kind and smiling you the guests

We had a standard room with a balcony that had a pleasant pool and mountain view, the bed was big and comfortable. It is close to city centre and to the bus station of Ierapetra, it was 15 minutes of walking for us

In the evenings, there are various programs and live music, but it's calm enough so you can still have a conversation. The area itself doesn’t offer much. You can reach the town of Ierapetra in 10 minutes from the hotel

Lovely hotel covering a large area. Food was brilliant with numerous different options for all meals. There was also a large vegan option at all meal times even though I am not vegan myself

There was all day entertainment, but the evenings are mainly about children so there is not a lot for adults. We had one fire and LED evening during the two weeks which was good

Vila Istron is a fantastic place to stay, very well-equipped and comfortable. The only minor issue was that the air conditioner could be quieter. Overall, everything was excellent

THE HOTEL on the website, clearly but some of these reviews they didn't check the website. It indicates what is free and. We booked the golden gate room for under £100 a night, nicest room in the hotel

They do happy hour from 17:00 to 21:00 where its buy one get one free on all cocktails. Our rooms were cleaned everyday, maids are very friendly and polite. The food, some said was repetitive

The woman is not miserable on the counter, they work 7 days a week (I mean this literally as well), all the staff are hard workers and polite. No offence, if my job consisted of that, I wouldn't be smiling 24/7 either

The sun was behind you above the mountains, reflexing of the sea. it was as good as the photos if not better. If you don't like the steps towards the beach from the hotel. there is another route you can take

cut through there, through the car park and down about 20 stairs. you're straight at the sandy beach. Sun beds are 15 Euros for 2 of them, and you can have them all day! But of course, you don't have to buy them

so feel free to read this if it helps in anyway THE BEACH About 150 or so steps away, down hill from the hotel (and of course back up hill on the way back) is a very narrow but beautiful sandy beach

We stayed for 11 days, no problems at all. The apartments were very clean and conveniently located near a small market and two restaurants. You will be welcomed with fruits and a bottle of wine

After recommendation from my Mother and Sister that were staying at the hotel in 2018, we decided to choose Elpida Village as our holiday destination this year and we had the best time! Hotel is situated in a quiet village

There are plenty of choices and baklava is to die for! Around 15 minutes walk from the hotel or 3 minutes drive by hotel bus there is a beautiful beach - Voulisima. I highly recommend to try jet ski - great experience
