Hotel Astoria in Desenzano del Garda

We booked this hotel for its location to the town, it was 2 minutes to the lake and shops and restaurants very close by.
The staff were very friendly and spoke many languages. They was showed an interest as to what we were doing for the day and suggested places of interest and a but of banter to go with it.
The market is on a Tuesday and it is literally 2 minutes walk from the hotel. It is big but dont expect it to be like uk markets as its mostly high end products that bring a big price to them. There are some stalls that are cheaper but the clothes look cheap too. You can also haggle to wich I was surprised at.
The hotel itself is as ypu see it in the pictures. It is a bit dark and dated but it is very clean everywhere you go.
The breakfast is good, lots to choose from. Tho the scrambled eggs are only warm. I was pleasantly suppress with the selection tho.
The rooms are nothing special, very basic but clean. It has good storage space and the beds are comfortable. They will give you exta pillows if needed. Maids come in every day to clean. It is good to have soap and shower gell in the bathroom so a good surprise. It also has a hair dryer. The shower is ok. It works fine but not a lot of room. You have to step down into a sunken bath so could be tricky if unsteady on your feet. No plug in the bath too so not an option for a bath.
The tv was small and had nothing English at all so a little disappointed there. We just listened to music from our phones. WiFi is very good in the hotel too.
The area and hotel was very quiet and has parking spaces if you were driving.
The train station is 25 minutes walk so not too far.
Overall we had a good week and would come again.

Easy to get to literally2 mins walk from the lake shore,reception staff very friendly, breakfast is adequate to start the day ,tho you may want to top up around 11 fish lol 😆 😀 😋 😉
Hotel is very quiet and comfortable too.

Me and my wife stopped at the Astoria Hotel, Desenzano for one week. The staff were lovely and the room was nice, clean and well maintained. Breakfast was great.....it gave a good start to the day. The location was spot on...for both restaurants/bars and the ferry to get round Lake Garda. The train station was a 25 minute walk (uphill), which we used to get to Verona, Milan and Venice.....so again an ideal location if you want to explore further afield. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay👌

Very simple,clean,good smelling (very good really) hotel,kind personnel and total freedom on check-in/out time,and private park totally free. Found on Booking,very good price. In the middle of Desenzano and at 5 minutes on foot from the beach!

A lovely clean and comfortable hotel. The owner, Josef, was very kind when I felt unwell with anaemia. Really close to the centre and lovely breakfast and terrace on the roof.

Location is great, it is literally around 2 minutes away from the beach. Rooms were ok. However breakfast buffet didn’t have a great variety of foods but it was ok. And rooms didn’t have a small fridge unfortunately. And they also didn’t have an iron 🥲. But i guess the great location compensates for the other missing things

This small hotel is excellent. Located just 3 minutes walk to the lake 5min if you walk very slowly. Good size room, very clean. Comfortable bed and good nights sleep. The staff are friendly and very helpful. No drink making facilities in the room but reception will make you a tea or coffee for €1. Good choice of foods at the breakfast buffet. The view of Lake Garda from the sun terrace is fantastic. Take your book and a glass of wine to enjoy a peaceful relaxing time. The hotel is 20min walk from the station if you arrive by train or they have parking out front.
You can then explore the local area or catch the ferry or bus to explore the Lake all a short walk from the hotel. A wide selection of local restaurants and cafes mean you have no problems finding lunch or dinner.
