We stayed here only one night. The location is strategic, close to the ferry harbour, at least one of them, to the train station and to one of the main squares. The hotel looks like an 80 vintage gem in need of a refreshing. But overall it's still in a nice condition.

Very spacious room, huge bed and comfortable mattress. The air conditioning is controlled by the hotel management, it cannot be set up individually in each room. The shower was newly renovated and very comfortable and spacious.
Location is great, just 7 minutes walk to main Piazza in Messina. Very close to the train station as well.

Rooms are outdated, hallways had old and dirty carpets but the people at the reception are friendly and even offered a free upgrade to one of the rooms. Location is really good in the center of the city. Bed linen and towels excellent quality.

Okay for the budget this is a well located hotel particularly if you are coming from the train or the ferry - from train station it is just over 1 block and so no need for a taxi or bus to get to the hotel
The staff are helpful (italian helpful) and again the location is really good - the lobby large and rooms a good size
Again it’s like stepping back in time - most of Sicily feels that way which I feel is all part of the charm
Bathrooms have a walk in shower always helpful and breakfast is a large area with many options - again very Italian breakfast
It was good for a one night stay - found my room Very quite and bed comfortable - lock on door and key card needed a bit of work but 2 lifts and just 2 steps to get to them

Location is a little away from attractions, but still within 30 mins walking distance. There arent much good restaurants nearby the street

Excellent and well run hotel with wonderful staff and great breakfast.
Just a short walk to the train and convenient to the duomo and main piazza.
Spacious clean and modern suite.
Excellent AC and quiet.
Bed was comfortable and linens were of good quality.
I would highly recommend the Royal Palace hotel.

We stopped by this hotel by chance due to the technical problem we had with our car on the third day of our trip, and they did more than they could to help us. We are grateful. The biggest thank you to the dear lady at the reception. The hotel's location and breakfast were also very good. I would like to share this as a note.

It’s actually pretty good. I don’t know why reviews were not high.
Parking, normally they charge 10 EUR. But because trip.com says free parking, they waived, a bonus.
The guys in reception were kind.
Breakfast was very good. I had a lot of kiwis…
No salami only ham.
