Reviews
Lots of youth and tourist groups.
Our room was nice, clean, quiet. No complains.
Breakfast experience not good. Noisy, kids running around, youth leaving their luggage and bags everywhere including tables. Lots of items running low. A bit dirty. Coffee and bread.
Bar area nice to sit since nothing much around. Big hotel but only two elevators so be prepared to wait during busy times. Reception area crowded when tourist groups checking in or out.
During my stay, my daypack was stolen from inside my room while I was showering and the hostel staff did absolutely nothing to help. A woman followed me from the lift into my room. I assumed she was a new guest as my room had empty beds and while I was in the bathroom, she stole my bag and disappeared.
The response from the hostel was beyond disappointing. They sent me on a wild goose chase to a police station that refused to help, claiming it wasn’t in their jurisdiction. The hostel staff showed zero empathy, offered no guidance, didn’t call the police, and made no effort to assist. It was only after I called the emergency number myself that officers were finally sent to investigate.
The least you could have done was to direct me to the right police station or advice me to contact the emergency hotline. As a local you should have known that the police station in the train station does not cover crimes that happen beyond the police station and you still directed me there. You'll need to relook on your SOP for when crimes like this happen as this is truly unacceptable.
Even after the incident, the hostel took no responsibility. My roommates raised our concerns, and the staff blamed us for not having our belongings locked instead of acknowledging the clear lack of security. Someone also tried to break into our room the day before this incident. It seems like this hostel attracts a lot of unwanted visitors.
There was no follow-up, no security improvements, no apology, and no compensation. During my stay there, here are other lapses in security that I observed:
1) Anyone can enter the lift lobby, there was no card access only to the lifts
2) No locks or lockers in rooms, you're expected to get your own lock
3) Security guards were present but did nothing
4) I enquired about using their lockers the next day and they were out of order during my stay (an icing on the cake for sure)
There are many better, safer places to stay in Venice, do yourself a favor and choose one of them.
The staff were welcoming, helpful, and spoke good English, even during late-night hours. Elevators are available, and the atmosphere felt safe, calm, and relaxing. The place was bustling with travelers from different nationalities—clearly a trusted choice.
A few notes: no toiletries in the bathrooms, and I observed a friend entering the room without a key, which raised some security concern. Buffet breakfast is offered (I didn’t try it), and there’s a budget-friendly coffee machine, which I used even at 2 a.m.
Halal and Indian food options are within walking distance, though limited.
Highly recommended for solo travelers or groups. Clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money.
What I liked:
- Location: It's located a few hundred meters away from Venezia Mestre Train station and is very easy to locate. For me this was really important because I had two heavy suitcases to wheel around.
- Rooms are clean and cleaned daily. Also somewhat spacious and they have an ensuite bathroom with shower gel, hair dryer and hand soap.
- Fresh sheets are given on check-in
- Luggage room where luggage can be stored for free
- Large common area to hang out
What I didn't like:
- the USB ports on the beds didn't work.
- Top bunks had no sockets and I had to charge my phone from the socket right next to the room door (which was really inconvenient).
- The guest kitchen smelled really strange and there were no cups or cutlery. Quite disappointing
That being said, it's a good hostel with decent value. If some of the challenges are addressed, then it can be even better.
I talked to expedia too, and they said they were unable obtaind the refund from the hotel, and now expedia also don't want to return the money too.
In case A&O indcated my review is a scam or that I never registered at this place, this is the Expedia itinerary: 72761571561000
* Few headlights together in one room made me feel disturbed from my bed while sleeping and the authority can think to find a solution. :)
