We spend every year a long weekend with my wife in a romantic and intimate place without our kids. My had chosen this plan last time. And it was a 100% perfect choice. All details were just great. Our room was spacious and smart with a great view of the Tuscan hills. I should say that the surrounding and the view were gorgeous at each part of the hotel. And the restaurant. No words which could describe...

I am writing in advance of our stay to commend the service of everyone on the team. I called to talk to the front desk abut upgrading my room and for the first time in my life I was disuaded, being told that I have already booked a stunning room. The young woman who helped me asked me what I wanted and shared that I would have 2 rooms so I could get up early and make myself coffee while my son sleeps...

Had a great experience here in this beautiful castle in the Tuscan hills. We loved the meals in the restaurants. Superb food and fantastic wines, and great service from the staff. My wife took full advantage of the spa and pool. Would love to go back.

The hotel is beautiful, but there is something off about this place. You should check out the ghost of Velona. I felt like a cash cow more than a guest. Transfer provided by car service €110 each way as compared to €30 to €70 by private car. Why would they do this? They also take a piece of restaurants they booked for me. It’s fine. Not worth more than that. Truly not worth even the review. Incredibly expensive for sub par food, a lackluster concierge, little to no service, rude staff. However, I will note, Domenico and the cooking class was the only highlight! Last thing - don’t pay for a suite with a terrace, the doors do not open but somehow still allowed water in when it rained. Not sure.

The environment is very good and unique, but the truffle digging activity is a scam. I suspect it was pre-set. The front desk is likely to overcharge. You must check the bill. But the hotel is very unique and the room is comfortable. The service is a bit of a scam.

I travel often and can say that this is the one of the best hotels in Italy. If you like luxury staying, blowing air full of flower aromas, Michelin 2024 restaurant and high class wines - this place is it. Will come again for sure!

An almost perfect experience. We experienced a car accident during the trip, but the hotel arranged and handled the whole process. The food service was also great, especially the Margherita pizza and T-bone steak.

Hotel to expensive for what it has to offer and rooms are very basic for the price paid

We loved our stay at hotel dei Capitani, would highly recommend. Montalcino is famous for truffles, wild boar, wine, and beautiful views, especially from this hotel. It is on top of a mountain and in the country so you can expect to see bugs in your room like spiders, mosquitos, stink bugs, but they are mostly all harmless and more of a nuisance than anything. I stayed after a day of driving from Florence. Arriving in front of the hotel with a car can be difficult. There’s really only one way into that street. Don’t use any of the mapping systems available. They will send you down small streets that cannot be traveled in an automobile. Once arriving, the staff was fantastic. The hotel is easy to get to , has a private parking lot. Being able to park and not drive in the narrow streets was a blessing. The hotel is located at the edge of town and only a short walk to everything Montalcino has to offer. The staff was excellent and helpful. We will definitely try to stay again!

We had a fabulous 4 day honeymoon stay at this hotel. The location is so convenient in the town. The room is large and views unbeatable. Lovely breakfast. A second visit to Podere Brizio after 7 years! The surroundings are stunning and was very well looked after even though I had a nasty cold. The rooms are staring to show some wear and tear, but can’t fault the service and beauty of the place!

Lovely and peaceful Tuscan estate.. Spent two nights at San Filippo on June 2018 during our family road trip through Tuscany. We chose it due to its proximity to Montalcino but also been a bit out of the way and private. We found it on Airbnb and loved the place. Incredibly beautiful property! Staff was also super friendly and helpful. There are plenty of small villages nearby so as long as you have a car, you can easily visit them all. It was a great staying point for the trip while being able to travel around the area.

We stayed for a weekend in late July and had a great time. A stone's throw from Montalcino (you can easily reach the village on foot) immersed in the tranquility and with a large garden. The pool is large, clean and equipped with deckchairs and umbrellas. The apartment where we stayed was not huge but it had everything we needed. We were three friends and we stayed two nights, the first night I took a cold shower with very timid water output, nothing to say about the apartment as it was clean and with everything you need that a small apartment should have. My fiancé and I went on our 3rd trip to Montalcino, and this quite possibly could have been the best. From the beginning Palazzina Cesira were very hospitable. In the morning they have a beautiful spread of food including "eggs your way", and delicious blood orange juice from Sicily! From there they suggested a wonderful restaurant that served the traditional Pinci pasta of the area. We highly recommend...
