Mare Hotel in Savona

Location, reception, view – everything was perfect.

The place is really beautiful – especially the outdoor areas by the pool and the beach. There’s even a well-designed changing and shower area near the beach, which was a great convenience and added to our overall comfort during the stay.

We truly enjoyed our time here and felt very happy with the experience. That said, the rooms were a bit dated. Ours faced the street, which made it quite loud and noisy at times. I assume there were no seaside rooms available during our stay, otherwise we would have preferred one.

One small point of confusion: in the family rooms, there are two queen-size beds. While that may work for small children, it becomes less practical as they grow older. Separate beds for the kids would make more sense for a family setup.

Despite these details, the atmosphere is definitely five-star, and the overall experience reflects that. The rooms could use a bit of an update, but we were still very pleased with our stay.

There are parking places for free and possibilities to charge electric cars.

Great location right by the beach! The hotel is a bit old and the breakfast was average. Soundproofing could be better — we could hear the TV next door, and the neighbors were smoking (not the hotel’s fault). Overall, good stay mainly for the location.

I spent 2 nights here. Biggest minus was the room to the street (hotel is directly next to the Main Street) and the room is very outdated. The breakfast was super including sitting on the veranda seeing the sunset. If you book a room to the ocean you could have luck. Parking next to the hotel is for free, if you park in the garage you need to pay 15 Euro extra.

Great value stay right on the beach. Daytime food and beverage options are pretty limited, so plan ahead for that. Beachfront amenities are tired and not aging well. Sushi restaurant pretty good for the price. Main restaurant priced like they're in Cannes or somewhere...

Good, but….
The hotel is very good, excellent swimming pool and very near to the sea…. Comfortable bed, nice shower and a good breakfast, but it looks like they forgot to add a bar when designing the hotel! The bar was a little shack manned by too many staff that stuck to their job only. When the “man who only grilled food” appeared at the till… his arms went up not my job. When the ‘till guy” took 5 or 6 orders at a time, he didn’t help the “drinks person" and then we had to wait for the “serving person”. One last thing, when we ordered bottle of wine we didn’t expect it to be already opened! When we complained at the time, we were told that was the wine measure. Not impressed.

The MareHotel is one of the few hotels in Liguria that is truly located directly on the sea.
