Hotel Riel delivers a serviceable three-star experience that broadly aligns with expectations for its category. The property offers clean, comfortable accommodation with some highlights and a few areas that could benefit from improvement.
One of the key positives is the air conditioning, which works efficiently—an essential feature during the warmer months. Rooms are well-maintained, and the inclusion of a balcony adds a pleasant touch, providing a space to relax in the evenings.
The outdoor pool, although on the smaller side, is kept clean and provides a refreshing place to cool off. However, guests seeking a more tranquil atmosphere may wish to note that the hotel tends to attract a typically lively “Brits abroad with kids” crowd.
Breakfast is included, though it leaves something to be desired. While the offering is adequate early on, it is not restocked once depleted. Arriving by 8:15am is advisable, as by 9:00am, options are extremely limited—often reduced to a few soggy remnants of bacon.
In summary, Hotel Riel is a solid and dependable option for budget-conscious travellers. It does not aim to exceed expectations, but for those seeking straightforward, no-frills accommodation, it delivers good value for money.
There were four of us who embarked on this trip. Upon our arrival, we experienced a sense of unease as the hotel only catered to locals, which was disappointing. Our purpose there was to relax and enjoy ourselves, however, the outdoor bar was closed, and we were hurried out during breakfast. They were unable to even provide us with toast. It was one of the most unpleasant hotels and holidays I have ever had to endure. When there was no food available for breakfast, we took it upon ourselves to visit the supermarket to purchase our own food and drinks. The locals were drinking by the pool with glass bottles of beer, yet we were informed that we could not use glasses or even eat by the pool. This led to a heated argument, making the holiday a nightmare. The owner or manager displayed a great deal of arrogance; consequently, we have all filed a formal complaint with the ABTA.
We paid nearly £1100 for a weekend getaway. It was truly disgraceful. To be truthful we all wish we stayed at home.
Rooms and hotel itself were very clean and comfortable. Room is enogh big and warm split system help to heat it. Very nice view from balcony to autumn garden.
Breakfast was the best in our 14 days travel in Italy. Really big choice: solmon fish, different types of cheese, salami, prosciotto, vegetable and fruites, eggs, fried mashrooms and some kinds of sandwiches, croissant and even donuts. All personal was very kind, there is a restaurant for lunch and dinner with nice choice of italian food and quite nice prices. Also personal there was very kind and friendly.
In room you can find kettle so it was very useful for us because it is already cold time in November but we were lucky with the sun.
And the biggest plus for us was free bicycles for any age. We took them and drive around to church, beach and then winneries nearby.
Thanks to everyone for our great stay and holiday and also the smily housekeeping signora. She made all our mornings happy.
