SHG Hotel De La Ville

We stayed here as a family expecting a comfortable experience, especially since it was advertised as a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very disappointing stay.

First, the customer service was unresponsive and unhelpful. We were not provided with any basic complementary items such as bottled water or an iron box. When we tried contacting the reception for assistance, we discovered that the telephone in the room wasn’t working.

The TV was outdated, and to make matters worse, the remote didn’t work at all. There were hardly any charging points, which made it really difficult for us to charge our phones and devices.

The air conditioner wasn’t functioning properly, and the room was stuffy and uncomfortable throughout the night. Housekeeping service was also very poor; the room did not feel clean, and there was no effort to check in or refresh anything during our stay.

Overall, the hotel did not meet even basic standards, let alone that of a 4-star property. We are very disappointed, especially since we were traveling as a family and expected a relaxing and convenient stay. Would not recommend unless major improvements are made.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff was unprofessional and seemed uninterested in helping. The check-in process was slow and unorganized.

The room was not clean — there was dust on the furniture, stains on the sheets, and the bathroom smelled musty. The air conditioning didn’t work properly, and when I asked for help, maintenance took hours to respond and didn’t fix the issue.

The location was also noisy, and I could barely sleep due to loud sounds from the street and thin walls. On top of that, the Wi-Fi was unreliable, which made it difficult to get any work done.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. It did not meet basic standards of comfort or service, and I regret booking my stay here.

Terrible place. I don’t understand how they still have their 4-star rating. Everything looks like it was just pulled out of a musty bay, wiped with bleach, and placed in the room. From the moment you walk in, you can smell bleach and mildew. The walls are dirty, and the curtains had some black spots. I’m not sure if it was ink or mold. One spot even looked like blood. I don’t even want to think about what it was. In the corner of the room, we had a huge mold patch. It rained one night, and in the morning, there was a large wet stain on the wall. Throughout the entire stay, the room was damp, even though it didn’t rain. Towels didn’t dry, and pants left on the floor were damp in the morning. Even my money got damp, haha.

Luckily, the room was cleaned every day. However, after the first cleaning, the cosmetic pads we received disappeared and never reappeared, haha. The cleaners had a tube of silicone on their cart, which says a lot about the state of the hotel.

Breakfast was supposed to be continental, but all they served were artificial, overly sweet croissants. The tomato and cucumber looked awful. You had to strategize carefully to get a decent meal there. The only good thing was the coffee, which just means it's something you can’t mess up.

The highlight was the message we received from the hotel right after booking a room with a double bed. They wrote that they understood a double bed would offer us more comfort and they could give us such a room for an additional 10 euros, haha. When paying, I asked if they had charged us for that. The receptionist explained they hadn’t but would have charged us if they didn’t have the room we booked and we still wanted a double bed. In that case, for 10 euros, such a room would magically appear. It’s so absurd it’s hard to believe it actually happened.

On the plus side: there’s free parking. But even that looks like a swamp. The ceiling in some spots looked like it was about to collapse. Water was leaking everywhere, and algae were growing on one of the walls!

The people were incredibly rude insisting that the fact that the shower wasn't draining upon entering was our fault. It smelled vial as a result and they made us wait an incredibly long time to get fixed I don't understand how this place has 4 stars check your showers people.
