SHG Hotel De La Ville

Terrible place. I don’t understand how they still have their 4-star rating. Everything looks like it was just pulled out of a musty bay, wiped with bleach, and placed in the room. From the moment you walk in, you can smell bleach and mildew. The walls are dirty, and the curtains had some black spots. I’m not sure if it was ink or mold. One spot even looked like blood. I don’t even want to think about what it was. In the corner of the room, we had a huge mold patch. It rained one night, and in the morning, there was a large wet stain on the wall. Throughout the entire stay, the room was damp, even though it didn’t rain. Towels didn’t dry, and pants left on the floor were damp in the morning. Even my money got damp, haha.

Luckily, the room was cleaned every day. However, after the first cleaning, the cosmetic pads we received disappeared and never reappeared, haha. The cleaners had a tube of silicone on their cart, which says a lot about the state of the hotel.

Breakfast was supposed to be continental, but all they served were artificial, overly sweet croissants. The tomato and cucumber looked awful. You had to strategize carefully to get a decent meal there. The only good thing was the coffee, which just means it's something you can’t mess up.

The highlight was the message we received from the hotel right after booking a room with a double bed. They wrote that they understood a double bed would offer us more comfort and they could give us such a room for an additional 10 euros, haha. When paying, I asked if they had charged us for that. The receptionist explained they hadn’t but would have charged us if they didn’t have the room we booked and we still wanted a double bed. In that case, for 10 euros, such a room would magically appear. It’s so absurd it’s hard to believe it actually happened.

On the plus side: there’s free parking. But even that looks like a swamp. The ceiling in some spots looked like it was about to collapse. Water was leaking everywhere, and algae were growing on one of the walls!

The people were incredibly rude insisting that the fact that the shower wasn't draining upon entering was our fault. It smelled vial as a result and they made us wait an incredibly long time to get fixed I don't understand how this place has 4 stars check your showers people.

I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel between 15-16 June. While the rooms were clean and comfortable enough, the breakfast they offered to their guests was incredible. First of all, they offer breakfast in two different standards (they offer different products in the lounges). I think they're setting this up to favor the tour operators, which is not cool. At least make sure that the 3-5 types of breakfast you offer are fresh. When the guests reported the situation to the server, he claimed that the products were fresh. Here you see the picture of the fresh product. Moldy...! When our tour guide reported the situation to the hotel management, someone on duty walked around the hall the next day, but the situation did not change much. I think this is the hotel's policy. All in all, it was very sad to receive this kind of treatment when leaving a wonderful country.

If you are going to choose this hotel, be prepared to experience such things.
