Carine Hotel Park

My spouse and I stayed here for four nights on our honeymoon, expecting fun and relaxation.

Pros:

• Location: The hotel is situated in a picturesque spot, nestled between scenic mountains and the bay. The views are stunning, and the serene environment is ideal for a relaxing getaway.
• Building: The hotel building is impressive, and our room was nicely furnished. We had a huge shared terrace, which was a pleasant surprise.

Cons:

• Air Conditioning: The AC throughout the hotel is very weak, which made our stay uncomfortable due to the hot and humid weather. Even after a technician checked it, the issue persisted. He was like “it’s working” (??) The whole hotel, including the lobby and restaurant, was warm and humid. So I concluded that it’s just like that everywhere.
• Arrival: Upon arrival, the reception kept our passports on a shelf behind the desk with others. This felt insecure. We had to request our passport back, which was only returned after being scanned. So if I didn’t ask, they would’ve kept it for the whole stay?? Very strange.
• Room Issues: Our room on the 5th floor was dimly lit, with non-functioning bed lights. The bathroom setup was awkward, the separate toilet and shower areas had the sink between them and partial glass doors, compromising privacy. There was also a lingering bad smell in the room that never really went away. There were spiderwebs!
• Housekeeping: Towels were changed daily, but bed sheets were only changed after we requested it on the 3rd day. They typically change bed sheets only if you stay 7+ days, which is unusual for a “four-star hotel”. They reluctantly accepted this after I told them it’s our honeymoon.
• Food: The food variety was good/ diverse, but the quality was inconsistent and usually very bland, probably catering mostly to French tourists. Few dishes were well-prepared, while others were poorly cooked (e.g., crunchy risotto). Spice bowls were available for self-seasoning, maybe these were added after the tons of reviews mentioning the lack of spices. And I am not talking spicy hot food, just even plain salt and pepper. The food also doesn’t include local dishes at all (except sometimes one or two simple dishes offered in the buffet, mostly mashed potatoes or something). So I can get if someone says the food is passable, but certainly not “ sooo good” or “world class” or anything.
• Beach and Pools: The beach was crowded and the pebbly floor required sea shoes. The water was clean albeit cold. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were small but usually empty.
• Hallways: The hallways near the sea and pool areas smelled damp and moldy.

Additional Issues:

• The AC made loud noises, and there were multiple power cuts at night. The reception said they would send someone but they didn’t. Am I a joke or what?
• There was a temporary water outage, which the reception said affected the whole town.
• The weak AC led to poor sleep and discomfort. At one point, I tried sleeping with the balcony open but was attacked by tons of mosquitoes, furthermore it being shared with another room and the hallway made it quite unsafe to leave open the whole night.

While the location and structure have great potential, our overall experience was marred by several issues. I hope the management can address these problems to improve future guests’ stays. Either they cater to a specific group of people, since many reviews are praising the service which is somehow “outstanding” or “out of this world” or these are just meaningless reviews. Funny how almost all 5 star reviews are from new accounts with only this review, and all from the same region🤷‍♂️ I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for a couples getaway. Probably if you speak french or something you may be treated seriously.
