Hotel Podgorica

Pros: spacious rooms, nice balcony with good view, restaurant was nice, location is good.

Cons: There were stains on the carpet and some of baseboards were coming up. Additionally, the hospitality of the staff wasn’t the best. The wine in our minifridge had gone off- smelled and tasted like vinegar. I respectfully brought it up to front desk as I didn’t want to be charged for a clearly expired wine that I didn’t drink, but they insisted I pay for it anyway. I didn’t make a fuss and just paid. Very unprofessional and rude for a “4 star hotel” as they didn’t even apologize or try to fix the situation at all!

The other strange thing was the bathtub in our room. It was a jacuzzi-style tub but it didn’t work as a tub and was pretty dirty. The shower head wasn’t able to be attached the wall so taking a shower was not very comfortable.

Overall, not a horrible hotel but not up to par at all for a 4 star hotel, especially in terms of service.

I was in the hotel with my partner for 4 nights, and here is our experience.
1) A hotel has the rooms downstairs, and if you are a girl or an elderly person, you could suffer bringing your luggage down the spiral stairs without the help of the hotel members. No elevators, no bell boys, nothing.
2) We didn't have the promised safety deposit box despite multiple tries. The staff's response was unhelpful, suggesting we leave valuables at the reception. When we asked for a discount due to the missing amenity, they dismissed us, saying everyone asks for discounts. Does it matter who seeks a discount? After our demand to the manager, a box appeared magically the next day.
3) We also didn't have a Do Not Disturb sign, and it was quite an adventure to get it. We had to ask for it several times, and finally we got it. Not sure what was the problem here, but okay.
4) Also when we booked the room, we certainly mentioned that there are going to be 2 adults in it, but suddenly we hadn't found any amenities for a second person. No 2nd slippers, no shampoo/conditioner stuff, not even a 2nd hand towel. After our question we finally got a 2nd pair of those, but the next day the 2nd hand towel disappeared.
5) We left a used glass in our hotel room, assuming the staff would clean it. However, even though it was clear that the glass had been used, the staff didn't clean it for days, even when we left it with dirty room service dishes.
6) First, they gave us 2 toilet paper rolls when we arrived, but things changed. The next day, there was just 1. I talked to the person at the front desk, and they gave us 2 more. But then, when they cleaned our room, they left us with less than 1 roll. I'm not sure why this kept happening, and it was frustrating.
7) We had breakfast included in our stay, which was pretty good. My partner wanted a cappuccino from the coffee machine, but it didn't have any milk. After my partner told the waitress, she filled the machine with milk. The waitress then mixed my partner's cup of cooled coffee with milk foam to make a different kind of cappuccino, but my partner didn't like that because the coffee was already cold. My partner said she'd rather make a new cup of coffee, and the waitress seemed annoyed, took the cup, and left without saying anything.
8) The best story comes with the dinner just before check-out day. I am even going to split it in 3 parts:
- I ordered a Tequila Sunrise cocktail with orange juice, tequila, and grenadine. The drink I received didn't look or taste like real orange juice, despite the simple ingredients. The waiter insisted it was made with orange juice, but even after adding more, it still didn't resemble a proper Tequila Sunrise.
- The wasps decided to join our delicious dinner. We relocated to another outdoor table, but they continued to bother us. We inquired about moving to the partially indoor area beneath the tent. Sadly, the waitress turned down our request, mentioning a dress code. Despite our suitable outfits, as hotel guests, we felt like inferiors being haunted by both the wasps and her response.Good job!
- So we decided to ask them to pack the remaining food to the room, and they did it! They brought it on the food tray (there were 2 plates and a glass of orange juice), and when I took it from them, intending to bring it with the tray (so, you know, it would be both easier to keep and dishes and keep the room cleaner, since you eat over the tray), they asked me to hand it [the tray] over back to them. I even forgot how to ask them if they could bring a single napkin. After all these events I was still confused that they couldn't even leave a damn food tray. Come on.

Furthermore:
No shower shelves
Stained carpets, water marks, mold in the shower
No balcony WiFi, even though available nearby
Few inconveniently placed power sockets
No free water or kettle
Unexpected restriction on outside food and drinks
Odd indicator showing room occupancy

Very disappointed with our stay. The staff's neglect made us feel unwelcome and inferior.

Not recommending this place at all.
