Reviews
The restaurant only opens for breakfast and you can't even get so much as a coffee during the day. Breakfast was okay on the day we tried it but overpriced at 12 euros per person.
The rooftop pool is much smaller than the photos would suggest and was very crowded whenever we vsited it.
We had a room on the third floor and our view consisted entirely of looking into the block of migrant workers apartments across the road - 4 to 6 young men in each apartment with three beds to each room with little other furniture. I met one of the occupants in town one night and confirmed that this was what the building was used for. While there's nothing wrong with this, it's hardly an idylic view.
The worst thng about our stay was the noise from both within and outside the hotel at all hours. It's in a very busy area and you may have trouble getting a good night's sleep if this bothers you.
The staff were, however, generally excelent and it is very clean and well run.
In summary, this hotel is on a par with a low end budget hotel and, while not bad as such, I can't recommend it when there are so many better alternatives nearby.
Pros:
• The team are incredibly kind and welcoming. From the front desk to the pool bar and housekeeping, we were met with genuine warmth throughout our stay.
• Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds are very comfortable. We really appreciated the thoughtful touches like gowns, towels, and complimentary bottled water.
• The bar offers a great selection of drinks at very reasonable prices, all well made and enjoyable.
Cons (depending on preference):
• The pool area is very quiet. Apart from the tannoy announcing when orders are ready, there’s no background music or atmosphere. If you’re after total peace and relaxation, you’ll love it. If you prefer a bit of a vibe while sipping frozen cocktails, I’d suggest bringing headphones. 😅
That’s genuinely the only downside we noticed - and for some, it may actually be a plus! Overall, the Mayflower team do an excellent job, and we’re so grateful for making our stay (while visiting a festival) such a pleasant one.
When we tried to resolve the issue with her directly, she became aggressive, rude, dismissive, and highly patronising. She denied everything she’d previously said, laughed at us while we explained our concerns, and even mocked other staff members who were kindly trying to help with the situation and she told us that it was their job to be polite to us. What should have been a simple request turned into unnecessary drama — we ended up wasting a huge amount of time at the front desk on the last three days of our holiday, dealing with stress that could have been easily avoided with honesty and professionalism.
To make things worse, she quoted us a different price for the late check-out than what she told others and then denied ever saying it. Price was never an issue as we previously requested to book another night at the hotel before all of this drama. She even shushed a senior staff member who tried to step in and help our situation — putting her hand in his face. Absolutely unacceptable. We were in shock when this happened.
While the general staff overall were polite and our room was clean thanks to the lovely cleaning faculty unfortunately the pool was very dirty at times and the AC didn’t work properly, and to be honest the whole situation with Entela was enough to ruin the experience. Because of this, we won’t be returning to the the Mayflower Hotel again, and we certainly wouldn’t recommend it to others.
We really hope the management team takes this review into consideration, as business owners ourselves and also working class citizens, it took us a lot to write this review, as we’re very easily pleased when we’re on holidays but unfortunately this experience was just so unpleasant we had to share, as when we booked the mayflower we purely booked on the reviews.
The cleaning lady Maria was super nice and friendly. Big love and hug to her! :) In general, all personnel were super nice and helpful.
Breakfast was great, good variety, everything was fresh and delicious.
Swimming pool was amazing, beautiful view, you can find a free seats anytime.
Location is great - bus station is less than 3 minutes away, you can get anywhere from there. Different restaurants/bars are around the hotel, beach is around 5-7minutes walking.
We strongly recommend this hotel! :)
Breakfast buffet in the restaurant is good. Staff are very friendly.
Not a bad sea view from the room, although a building site directly in front with piles of blocks.
Enjoyed breakfast, lots of choice, hot and served until 10:30am.
Although don't appreciate the cleaner knocking on the door at 9.45 waking us up after a late night when we're checking out that day.
Towels were ridiculously small. I'm only small but they barely wrapped around me. Bars of soap and shower caps provided only but maid would throw it away each day which seems a waste.
Very large, comfy bed. Fridge, kettle, tea/coffee. Hotel wasn't too noisy, heard a few doors shutting in the morning but that was about it.
Good value for money and a good location.
