Holiday Inn Express - Malta, an IHG Hotel

Do not stay here if you are expecting a quiet place or wanting to sleep before 4am (or at least make sure you are given a room facing the back of the building).
I will start by saying that the reception staff are all super friendly and helpful but otherwise we were super disappointed with this hotel.
Firstly - it is incredibly loud if your room is facing the street which unfortunately our first room was. Even with the double doors and ear plugs in, the music from the clubs below blasted until 4am every night. I get that it’s a party area, so if you’re here just to party then I don’t think you’ll have any issue. Maybe we should have researched the area more.
On top of that, our aircon didn’t work. It seems like many people have made similar comments.
We also had a super noisy neighbour who was making a lot of noise at 3am onwards despite being asked by not just us but other guests to be quiet. I understand is not the fault of the hotel but we did complain about all of the above issues and ask to be moved but sadly they didn’t have any other rooms that they could apparently give us that night, but did move us the following night at least.

Once we moved rooms things were much better in terms of quietness and a working aircon so that was great.

But then the water (not just our room but the whole hotel) stopped working and wasn’t turned back on until 1am on that night and we were leaving early the next morning and needed to shower etc after a long day out in the sun.

There are also no fridges in the room which was a small thing but surprising.

I’m sure many reading this would probably question why we stayed in St Julian’s if we weren’t looking to party every single night. We did actually go out quite a few nights but just not til 4am every night. And maybe that’s our bad for not researching, but hopefully this serves as helpful for anyone considering the hotel that are in the same boat as us.
