My Worst Hotel Experience Ever – I Strongly Do Not Recommend!

We booked this hotel through Booking.com and arrived around 9 PM to check in. Despite no one being at the reception, the check-in process dragged on until 11 PM. We had two small children, were tired from traveling, and hungry. The receptionist kept apologizing but was just stalling. At first, she claimed they couldn’t find our reservation. I found it on their computer myself and showed it to her — it clearly said “Booking” on it, but she insisted, “I don’t see it.”

We had a confirmed room number, yet they refused to give it to us. Instead of the suite room we booked online for 2 adults + 2 children, they tried to put us in a small room with two single beds. When we refused, the receptionist took a card and started opening random room doors to look for a vacant room! It’s unbelievable that they disturbed other guests at 11 PM by knocking and entering with a “sorry” as if it was normal. Eventually, very late, we were forced to settle in a room.

But the worst part came after: a few hours later, while my husband was showering and the kids were trying to sleep, a man opened the door and entered! My children cried out of fear, and I was in shock. The man just said “sorry” and left. This is a serious violation of privacy and a security scandal. We had to spend the night locking the door and blocking it with a chair.

The hotel was dirty and poorly maintained, infested with bugs. Regarding parking, we were blatantly misled. They said it was 15 Euros per day and warned us that parking outside would cost by the hour. Later, we learned that parking outside was actually free! So they lied to charge us parking fees. We paid in Euros, but when they said no spaces were available, they refunded us in Serbian Dinars. When I asked for Euros back, they said “No change, not my problem.”

The female staff blamed Booking.com for all these issues and refused to take responsibility. The hotel has no proper system and gave the impression rooms are rented by the hour. Excuses like “busy schedule” for rooms still unclean after check-out time are unacceptable.

This place is absolutely not safe! They have key cards that open every room and no respect for your privacy. As a family, the trauma we experienced proves how unprofessional and unsafe this hotel is.

I came to Belgrade with high hopes, but this hotel ruined my impression of the city. Comparing to the hospitality standards in Turkey’s tourism sector, this was a complete disappointment. Speaking as a Turk: such disrespect and security violations never happen in hotels in my country. I would love to host their staff in Turkey’s tourist areas to show them what real service means.

I will file formal complaints with both Booking.com and local authorities. A horrifying experience — avoid at all costs!
