When we were going on a night market tour organised by Havana Beach Resort, Koh Phangan, my grandma was thrown from the back of a truck onto the road, as the rear door had not been shut by the driver, and broke both her shoulders. She had to be repatriated and suffered life changing injuries. The hotel have never taken any responsibility for the accident that happened last summer. This caused life changing damage to my grandma's health and ruined what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime holiday.

A wonderful resort in a quiet corner of Koh Phangan. Breakfast right on the beach is delicious, with a wide selection of options. The restaurant also serves tasty dishes, including a barbecue. Various services are available for a small additional fee, such as laundry or taxi service. Due to its remote location, I recommend renting a scooter (available near the resort) to explore the island. Within a 5-minute walk, you’ll find a small village with a supermarket and an amazing food street. We’d love to come back here! :)

I don’t usually write reviews but I have to for this hotel. They took my 83 year old grandma out on one of their night market tours. The driver loaded my grandmother in the back of the truck and forgot to close the rear door. He then took the handbrake off, rolled back and then slammed the breaks which threw my grandmother out onto the tarmac. She broke both her shoulders and it has been a life altering injury. The hotel are refusing to communicate with us (they have not even provided the accident report which we have requested). Please avoid this hotel at all costs. They completely ruined my grandmother’s health (and less importantly our holiday) and are refusing to take accountability for it.

Be warned that whilst Rickshaw Travel were extremely helpful in planning our family holiday in Thailand, they were not helpful when my mother was thrown from the back of a truck and broke both her shoulders. We were on a trip organised by the hotel, Havana Beach Resort, Koh Phangan, a hotel booked for us by Rickshaw Travel through their local agents, Kiiri travel. Neither the hotel nor Rickshaw have taken any responsibility for this totally avoidable accident. My mother had to be repatriated, suffered life changing injuries and ruined what was supposed to be the holiday of a life time. The Havana Beach Hotel has never responded to any contact made by us and Rickshaw seem to have totally washed their hands of it altogether. Totally un-acceptable!

Each building is two-stories high nestled within a jungle-tropical atmosphere. The birds, frogs, cicadas and other wildlife sing in concert together every morning!
Room was very clean. I had building C, second floor. Initially I was given a room that didn’t meet my needs and they totally listened to my concerns and changed my room immediately (nothing wrong with the room). They were so kind.
Room: spacious. Noted the mattresses are a wee bit old and tired but the mattress cover was super clean - no bugs.
No smell, odour or mildew.
Balcony doors: slide apart - beautiful !
Balcony - huge ! Lots of room !
Fridge: Large
A/C - worked very well.
Cleanliness of resort - A+++
Staff service/friendliness: A+++
Pool: I didn’t use but was cleaned every morning and used by families
Beach: very clean and safe. Just a little walk to the water
Swimming beach: Safe and great for distance swimming. Just be careful of the boat anchors.
Breakfast: included every morning - buffet. Great selection: fresh fruit, watermelon, pineapple, Cappucino, espresso, coffee, bacon, eggs cooked to your liking, French toast, pancakes, toast, and more.
Solo travellers: If you go swimming in the ocean, you can leave your key at the bar.
Cats: There are a few friendly cats that roam throughout the resort. One thought my room was hers and kept making herself at home when she ran in.
Village: there are two villages within walking distance - one approx 8 mins away - there is a “food market” across from the 7-11 - quite popular - can get good delicious locally made food for a reasonable cost.
NUI beach: is about 30 mins away (2.2 km) with a whole bunch of shops and restaurants. For those that like a challenge, can walk up and down the never-ending hills.
Scuba Diving: / Snorkelling/
H2O Scuba divers are located at “Pens” just a 5 min walk down the beach, and they have their main office by NUI beach as well. Professional and safe diving ! They also provide a delicious lunch between dives/snorkels.

Not a great experience. Hotel rooms had damp on the wall. We were meant to be in a deluxe room, but for some reason this meant it had 3 double beds in it? There was no comfortable chair etc in the room despite all the space for the beds. As we were on the ground floor everyone walking past could see directly into the room, (and everyone walked past as it was on the route from front of hotel to the beach.) There were no "net" style curtains, so we had to use the black out curtains. As this was the only window in the room, we either lost daylight or privacy. If you were in an early number room on the ground floor the outlook was dark and damp. There are very steep stairs from the front area to the back area of the property. Breakfast was a bit of a scrum. For some reason they expected you to take your shoes off in reception. On the positive side the beach was very nice and the beach bar was good.

beautiful place with all the greens but the service was mediocre. we were told we could go into the room and that they would bring our luggage. after 30mins we went to get all the suitcases ourselves, the reception staff didnt apologize and acted like they didnt promise us to bring it. no hot shower water and the stream from the shower head felt like thousands of needles and really hurt. the massage was not worth the money, the masseuses kept talking to each other, they didnt ask us what kind of massage we want, if we had any pain or health conditions, and they didnt properly massage, most of it felt like just touching and rubbing oil. otherwise the pool and the private beach are amazing. also the own restaurant and bar have a lot to offer.

There was a strong smell of mold in the room, which caused headaches. The beds were stained and partially moldy. The pool loungers were completely worn out and unusable.
The resort felt soulless and is run by an Indian owner with unmotivated guest workers (presumably from Burma). For us, it was impossible to find any relaxation at this place, which is why we left after only two of the seven planned nights.
To make matters worse, our neighbors, facing the exact same issues, also chose to move to another resort. This further reinforced our feeling of being misled by the deceptive portrayal on the resort’s website. Our days here were far from restful, and we are extremely relieved to have relocated to a new resort—one free from the stench of mold, with a welcoming atmosphere where we can finally enjoy our vacation as intended.

The hotel is clean, beautiful and comfy. The territory is well-maintained. The breakfasts were okay, more in European style. Lots of families with children, sometimes it got quite noisy.
Overall it was a good experience for us. Just be ready that it’s a really remote area of the island and it took us like 30 minutes to go to the center by scooter
