Hotel COCO Phuket Bangtao - SHA Extra Plus

The hotel claims to be 5 stars, but the service is far from it. We just checked in yesterday, and today after the daily cleaning, no replacement toilet paper was provided, even though ours was already running out. When we asked for some at the reception, the staff member told us it would be delivered *tomorrow morning*! Meanwhile, we’re left with none and unable to address a very basic need. This is simply unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one with a 5-star rating. Such neglect of fundamental guest requirements is appalling and shows a serious lack of professionalism. This level of service does not deserve even a fraction of the luxury status the hotel advertises. Terrible experience!

My stay at this hotel was a big disappointment. The cleanliness left much to be desired; the walls were yellowish and breaking, the bathroom was not as clean as expected, and the mirrors had fingerprints on them. What was even more frustrating was the lack of basic amenities. During my four-night stay, there were two nights without electricity or water. Despite being assured that the issue would be resolved within an hour, it persisted throughout the night, leaving us without essential services. Additionally, the staff seemed unconcerned and did not understand basic needs. Communication was challenging as they struggled with English. It was clear that this place is in need of better management to address these issues.

However, the view from the hotel is breathtaking, and the area is fantastic. If the hotel focuses more on addressing these basic needs, it has the potential to be a five-star establishment.

Good price for size of room. We had room 2109 which had outside spa but the jets didn’t work plus it appeared the main pump that services all the spas is located under the deck in the outside sitting area - right next to where you sleep. The DSPA was also dirty, green in places with tiles missing & loose. We also noted that because of the trees overhead we ended up with lots of bird poo in the spa. We did request the spa be fixed but we spoke to 3 staff & non seemed to understand. The room was a great size & overall pretty clean. It could do with some maintenance though, a chair was broken, fridge noisy, shower leaking onto tiles near toilet making the floor potentially dangerous. The bed as comfy & extra pillows. Air con good but noisy. Great sized kitchen but only minimal cooking utensils etc. No phone in room so you need to go to reception for anything you might need. Breakfast was very minimal choices with no bacon which is very unusual! The main pool & gardens are good. Location wise it is about a good ten minute walk to the beach & maybe 15 odd minutes to main shopping area but the roads are narrow with bugger all paths do not ideal at all if you have kids with you. The hotel doesn’t have a shuttle but there are tuk-tuks outside the hotel normally waiting. They don’t have dinner available or room service so eat in is very limited. Whilst for the size of the room & spa (had it been working) the price is not to bad, it’s quiet most of the time apart from building works all around but we couldn’t really hear that inside our room of a day - when we were sitting outside the main spa pump drowned the sound out anyways 😜 It probably a good choice if you are going to be spending all day out & about & just want somewhere to sleep.

This hotel has a big sewer problem: our room was smelling like if there was a dead animal in the bathroom… and nothing has been done until a proposal came just before our last night: the staff is kind but overall not very concerned. This place needs a manager. The WiFi is mediocre, the breakfast awful (for western selection at least) and the place is not really close to Bang Tao Beach. Visited once, won’t go again
