I'm a Phuket local, so I haven't stayed at the Wekata Luxury hotel, but if it's as good as its restaurant, it must be first-class. I found this gem, also known as Hongu Chinese Restaurant, while searching the internet, and now I happily make the 25-minute drive from my home.
Whenever I'm in the Kata area and want a special meal, this is where I head. The food is consistently excellent! My personal favorites are the Yangzhou fried rice, the scrambled eggs and tomatoes soup, and the Gongbao king prawn dish, everything on the
menu is also very reasonably priced.
The service is truly exceptional. The entire team—especially Nit, Pai, Kie, Sabannga, Mama, and Chef Chen—always make me feel incredibly welcome. They're a wonderful mix of Thai and Chinese staff, and they all speak English, which is a great bonus.
The restaurant is very well run, and all the staff are attentive. On my last visit, I accidentally dropped a chopstick, and before I could even call a waiter, they had noticed and brought me a new set! It's this kind of attention to detail that sets them apart.
The restaurant has a pleasant ambiance. I highly recommend trying the food; you'll be very pleased! Special thanks to Kie, who always greets me with her warm smile.

Subject: Request for Late Check-Out Clarification

Dear Wekata Luxury Phuket, Kata

I recently stayed at your hotel and would like to clarify the late check-out policy. According to the form I received, it states that a half-day rate allows guests to extend their stay until 18:00.

However, when I asked at the front desk, I was informed that I could only stay until 16:00 for the same price. I would kindly like to request the possibility of staying until 18:00, as indicated on the form, or an explanation of the policy.

The rooms stank of dampness and mold, I was thrown around multiple rooms that all stank of mold, this hotel is not fit for human habitation in its current state, they upgraded me to their luxury suite which also smelled strongly of mold. Here's part of a letter addressed to them "...which has been unacceptable and uninhabitable, severely impacting our honeymoon. From day one, our room had a strong mold and damp smell, posing health risks (I’ve developed breathing issues). We were moved multiple times, but all rooms, including the “deluxe suite,” had persistent mold odors from AC units. The hotel’s oil burners on every floor and chemical perfume sprayers in elevators appear to mask the issue, potentially worsening health impacts. Despite an air purifier, the problem persists.

I reported this to you via your system on day one, but your phone support just hung up on me. The hotel acknowledges the issue but refuses to refund directly, citing your payment process, and only offered free meals (with a waiver I refused to sign). Under Thailand’s Consumer Protection Act and your policies, I am entitled to a full refund for this uninhabitable accommodation, plus compensation for distress and health impacts on our honeymoon. I have photos/videos of the mold, burners, and sprayers in an attempt to mask the smell." The hotel claims no fault yet they refunded me for one night only because I was persistent and kept it going through booking but if they haven't done anything wrong why refund me the one night, and if they refunded the one night then why not refund the full stay as they know they're in the wrong and that hotel needs to be shut down! AVOID !!

🚨 DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL – A REAL HORROR EXPERIENCE! 🚨
I’m writing this while still stuck inside this hotel against my will. This is my second time here — the first visit a year ago was acceptable, but this time it turned into a disgusting nightmare of filth, lies, and danger.

I booked 4 nights: 2 nights in a standard room and 2 in a deluxe mountain-view room. From the start, they gave me the wrong room — two separate beds with separate blankets instead of a king, no ventilation, and a terrible smell of mold . They promised the correct room the next day.

The next day, they “upgraded” me — and that’s when the horror truly began. The bed was crawling with spiders and insects. I saw dozens of them, including broken spider legs scattered across the sheets. And that was just part of the bed — if I had checked the entire thing, there could have been hundreds.

I immediately went to reception to cancel, but they refused a refund. The staff lied, saying the head office denied it. They even tried to make me sign a document saying I would not sue or file a complaint before showing me another room — I refused.

The “upgrade” they offered turned out to be the same room I had already booked for the final two nights. When I pointed this out, the staff panicked and tried to change the dates by hand. When I refused, they canceled the upgrade and moved me back to a standard room, which was ALSO full of insects and human hair, showing they don’t even properly change the bedding.

⚠️ Lift the mattress and you’ll find a kingdom of bugs, dirt, and neglect.
I demanded that all bedding be replaced in front of me. I am still here now — they refuse to let me leave, and I feel like a hostage.

❗ I refused to accept their “solution” because this was not just a cleanliness issue — it was a serious hygiene and safety problem. This wasn’t about a bit of dust or a missed cleaning — this was a health hazard, with spiders, insects, and signs of long-term neglect beneath the bed.
It’s important to understand: my refusal was not about mood or preference. It was because no reasonable person should be expected to sleep in conditions that pose a direct risk to their health, safety, and comfort. Any offer to switch rooms or do a light cleaning was meaningless when the fundamental hygiene of the property was completely compromised.

This is unacceptable for any hotel. Booking.com and other platforms should not allow this property to remain listed.
Please, do not book this place. Protect yourself from a disgusting, unsafe nightmare.

The whole hotel smells like mold and dirt

Hotel is brilliant, great location and exceptional staff. Caming home from a night out my partner rolled her ankle on the way home, thought it was fine but once we got to the room we realised it was bruised badly. I went straight down to reception and told the staff member there (pretty sure his name was James). He was incredibly helpful by going above and beyond in preparing an ice pack for the ankle. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to thank him well enough after but he really saved the holiday with his quick thinking!

Clean and well maintained hotel with decent location. Had the 1 bedroom and was modern and plenty of space. Not on the beach but pretty central to loads of nice restaurants, bars and massage places. Kids area was nice but looked more like a afterthought, and a bit exposed to anybody just walking through (next to an automatic door leading to the street). Breakfast was fine but everything a bit bland. Nice staff.

Checking in was smooth. Arrived on a Buddhist holiday, hence they gave voucher to use welcome drink at their bar/restaurant on the couple of days later. Staff explained hotel amenities and bfast place. It had 3 blocks and seems like sharing with another grand kata vip hotel (sister company perhaps). There were rooftop bar and pool but it was closed due to Buddhist holiday 9to11 July. Room was clean, right at pool. Awesome. Breakfast was lovely and had western and Thai options. They have shuttle to Kata Beach 4times thru the day. But didn't used as we rented bikes. Walked to Tamarind Motor Rental nearby. Lots of massage shops, Kata night market and 7-11 within 5 mins walking radius. Hotel location was strategic and quiet. Hotel organised daily activities for kids like painting and adults like cooking class or muay thai. It has small playground near bfast spot so kiddo can play and parents have their bfast coffee etc. They can watch from afar.

Slightly up market but reasonably priced. We had superior room with separate bedroom and uniquely a cooking area which might be useful but with so many food options nearby we never used. Bring a mirror as there is only 1 in the bathroom, close to all you need (a new 7-11 just opened across the street) Night market 5 mins. Beaches can be reached easily by tuk tuk or walking if you have the energy (20mins). Offers a free bus but you need to book your place. Great entertainment in the evening with Mr Izzy Cool see if you can find something this guy can not play!

excellent service from frontdesk. her name is Palm. she is so polite and greeted my family w a smile! she brought over birthday cake to my room and celebrated w us as well! thank you so much Palm :) overall experience was great. def will comeback! night markets, shops, eateries everything at the hotel's doorstep. friendly locals. the only negative is the flooring. they should have done cement instead of vinyl. the floors are popping out. can't wait to be back again during the low season when the sea water at Kata beach is superb!

The place smell, for some reason the smell didn't go away even after several days. There are hair on the bed when I check-in, the fake wooden floor tile is broken, which can easily scratch someone's foot.
