Reviews
We stayed here in December 2023. I hate writing bad reviews, but I must warn people against this absolutely terrible hotel as I'm still thinking about this over a month later. The mattress on the bed wasn't a mattress at all but a box spring. Seriously. We took the bed apart to investigate, and that's what we found! Four nights of horrible sleep, even with the hotel's remedy of providing three (THREE!) pillow mattress covers.
The toiletries in the bathroom included minimal toilet paper (we had to call to the desk TWICE to get more) and a heinous smelling concoction -- all of them the same exact thing -- in each of the four individual bottles of "luxury" hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The breakfast was meh, though expansive, but also kind of a rip off -- we had better breakfasts a few doors down, with superior service.
The location is terrific for both Kata and Karon beaches, and the staff at the bar were friendly and fun. I also highly recommend the gent who plays guitar at the bar on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. This part of the hotel was great and the only reason it gets more than one star.
But if you want the basics of what a hotel should do -- a good night's sleep and a decent shower (with soap) -- skip this place.
Pros:
- Staff were very friendly and helpful! Can't think of any negatives on that front.
- The rooms, despite their issues, were well cleaned every day. The swim-out functionality of our room was a great alternative to fighting for pool chairs.
- Great amounts of bottled water are delivered to the room daily.
- There is free WiFi. The speed wasn't fantastic (roughly 10 Mb/s) but got the job done.
- Musical performances are performed every night at the outside bar. A great listen.
- The position is great! There are many restaurants nearby and Kata beach is only about 10 or so minutes away on foot.
- The hotel restaurant has decent food. Bonus points for being able to serve us at 10 PM after arriving late from the airport.
- There is breakfast. It's nothing fantastic, but there is a chef who will cook eggs live on request. Expect a lot of thai foods to choose from and a limited sandwich selection.
Cons:
- The soundproofing of these rooms are non-existent. Expect to hear anyone passing by in the hallway and every performance at the bar (which can sometimes last until 11 PM).
- There was clearly no designer on board during the creation of the hotel rooms. Our shower door can only be half opened before it slams into the wall, forcing you to worm your way through the small open gap. You also could not open your closet without closing one of the doors, and in a relatives room thier couch was directly blocking their porch.
- Our couch was stained all over.
- The television was set to russian by default (which was hard to change) and didn't have any internet connection, locking out streaming services like Netflix.
- The bathroom soaps and shampoos are some kind of otherwordly concoction because they smell terrible. Bring your own for your own sake.
All in all, nothing fantastic although passable.
If you're just looking for a place to stay, it might be good to also consider other options.
Pros:
•Very good location and close to Kata beach which was my favorite one. Many restaurants, bars and other amenities nearby.
•Staff was very kind and happy to assist
•Spacious rooms (the toilet was not part of the bedroom which we liked)
•Nice breakfast with a variety of options
Cons:
•When we first entered by the room, the floor was not clean; there was beach sand on the floor and the bedsheets did not feel clean. The next morning we asked from the reception desk a thorough clean and thankfully it was sorted out.
•The breakfast hall was always cold up to a point where we couldn’t enjoy our meal.
•The booking description mentioned that the room included an iron (much needed when traveling) which was not true. We asked for one in the reception desk and never got it.
•The flip flops in the room we’re used. For me this is unacceptable since many fungus can be transferred by foot. This is a 4 star hotel; this approach must change 🤷🏽♀️. Of course we asked for a new pair and never got it.
•There were two TVs in our room; both set up in Russian language. We manage to switch them to English language but there was no connection to wifi 😅. We didn’t ask for assistance on that.
•No water pressure at all (at some points the water stopped running) and mixing cold with hot water was sooo frustrating.
•And finally, the worst smell on shower products (shampoo and shower gel). 😏😖
Considering the cost of our stay, I would probably not recommend this hotel.
+ Clean hotel
+ Polite personnel at breakfast
+ Great live music on Wednesday and Friday at the bar
+ Good location
- if you need a taxi, you will need to ask the staff 4 days in advance…! Not a good service. (They are not helping you finding any other solutions).
- not enough beds at the pool
- hard to mix hot and cold in the shower
- aircon is too cold or too hot (and loud)
- lots of Russian visitors that stare you away at breakfast
- one service staff member was screaming at us for taking the copy of the receipt instead of the real receipt. No need for screaming, gave us not a welcomed feeling.
- Thin door, you can hear everything on the hallway (take earplugs with you)
Not advertised:
- They ask for a safety deposit (3000 BTH / 100 EUR)
