Khaolak Forest Resort

We loved staying at this hotel. We were there alone and received excellent service from all the hotel staff. The rooms are very clean, and the staff is friendly. The pool is great too. The location is also close to a street with restaurants and a market. We will definitely return here soon.

A truly well presented hotel.
Would have rated it a 5 due to location.
The pool villa is absolutely immaculately presented, spacious, bright, well designed, clean and fresh. Separate sower room/bathroom. Separate dressing room area, internal sitting room area and patio doors leading out to patio where you have seats and a lounger with direct pool access. All said the pool is more decorative than anything else as only knee deep but there is a large main pool a few steps away for a good swim.
A good breakfast is served in a nicely appointed dining area although for once no egg station.
There isn’t a bar or pool bar either.
Staff so friendly and FC welcoming.
Beautifully designed gardens surround all areas allowing for good privacy.
It is a good 25 - 30 minute walk to the beach at La Flora hotel (a challenging walk in the humidity) and you have to cross the busy main road.
Numerous excellent local Thai restaurants on the doorstep of the hotel.
A very enjoyable and relaxing stay - would recommend and likely stay again.

I really wanted to give this place a 5 stars. I really do but where they fall short is their receptionist.

There are two staff one morning one afternoon that would not greet us when we go in or out of through the lobby. I wonder if it’s because we are Thai. Because they would greet every foreigners that go by. How did I know? Because I was waiting for my sister and watch them greeted other guests but never did once for us.

The lady receptionist at night even told us not to lose a key card or we will be charged after we asked for extra key since we wanted to keep the AC cold by leaving one key they gave us in the room. Every 5 stars properties I have stayed at even leave the key in with cool AC for their guests.

It’s just mind blown how different we felt like we were being treated as a paying guests. Let alone, just because we were Thai.

Now, the positives:

The location isn’t next to the beach but it’s ok, we had a car. And there were no kids so it felt very private and peaceful.
The property is stunning. We booked the pool villa and it was so beautiful at night and morning. The flowers in this property are so lovely. We were on the street side where I wish they would have build a wall to separate the property from seeing to the street.

Breakfast was included but it was below average that we didn’t even eat there after our first morning.

the bell boy and house keeper on the other hand, were so lovely, hard working, and kind. We love them!

Buffet breakfast with choices for all. The Best we have had on our travels in Thailand.
Lovely reception staff who give you a warm welcome. All staff are so warm & friendly.

Very clean and beautiful resort. It is quite central to all supplies such as 7/11 stores, scooter rentals and more. Beaches nearby by scooter also.

They are always happy to help. They organized a Taxi Shuttle to the airport for a very fair price.

10/10 would recommend.

Very nice hotel with beautiful garden. Staff was very polite and friendly. Rooms were big enough and balcony was spacious. Breakfast was also good and there were no rush. Pool area was quiet with a few sunbeds and sofas. Pool bar was not open and gym was not very well equipped. Some nights loud music game from temple area.

This hotel is so very lovely and peaceful with beautiful plants that are tended to daily. Very clean allover.

We had a wonderful villa with access to the shallow pool which we would book again anytime. The small dressing room is a great addition.

It takes about 25 minutes to walk to the beach and about 10 minutes to the market and the centre of Bang Niang.
There are several good and inexpensive restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
A recommendable laundry is directly to the left on the main street.

Breakfast was absolutely sufficient for us, mainly ate the nice Thai dishes. We loved the little outside breakfast area.

The resort also has a separate bar by the roadside run by a very friendly older couple. You can get everything from cocktails to small dishes here.

All staff were super friendly and attentive, special thanks to Tony and Kung from reception.

We have been travelling to Thailand for 25 years, staying from 2-star to 5-star places. We can definitely say that the Forest Resort is a fabulous smaller hotel with very good value for money. We felt very comfortable and will definitely return to this peaceful haven when staying in Khao Lak the next time.

We stayed four nights in a room with pool access and enjoyed it. The hotel is stylish, clean and worth the money. Thank‘s to Toni the desk manager. He is a very nice and helpful guy.

Good value for the price. We where the whole day diving anyway, so this was perfect, instead of paying multiple times as much for a beachfront hotel. It makes sense here to rent a bike, since it is a bit isloated. With the bike you can reach many stores and restaurants, and also the market in a around 5min drive. You can rent a bike directly at the hotel or just around the corner.
