The Mooring Resort

Best choice. Although I visited during the rainy season, I was able to appreciate the calm sea of Phuket throughout the trip. I think this was the best hotel I encountered while traveling with a dog.

This is a fantastic resort. The location is divine. The rooms are spacious and well designed. There is a thought for ease and comfort. Honestly the best place I have ever stayed. The staff are amazing and the owner is very accommodating. We will definitely return to Phuket to stay here.

The resort was so beautiful and lovely. Great staff, clean overall, very close to the beach which is a big plus!! what an amazing place yagggg. Can't wait to come back and stay here again!

We loved our stay at The Mooring. You step out of your bungalow onto the sand, you hear the gentle sound of the waves, the palm trees all around. The rooms are simple but lovely and really comfortable. The staff were all so friendly and very helpful with anything we needed. The hotel has 2 big baskets of toys and lots of games for children to play with, which were great!

The beach is small and quiet, there is only one restaurant next door - the Cove. Otherwise it is a 10minute walk, or a 2 minute drive to a little village with more restaurants and massage places and a small super market. It’s a 15 minute drive to phuket old town which has lots of restaurants, bars and shops.

The only disappointing thing is that the beach was quite dirty when we were there, but that is a world problem, not the hotel’s problem.

The Mooring is a quiet place, perfect if you want to disconnect, relax and really feel like you are on holiday away from the world! We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Mooring Resort from October 3rd to 6th. Our room was modern and spotless, and the service was excellent. The private beach, while busy at times, remained peaceful, making it feel like a true oasis in southern Phuket.

We also had an issue with our bike rental service, as they were late in picking up the bike. The resort kindly intervened, spoke to the rental company, and arranged for the deposit to be sent directly to the resort. They gave us the money so we could head to the airport without delays, and the rental service collected the bike later. 10 out of 10 service.

Just be aware that it’s a bit distant from the main beaches, though we didn’t mind riding a bike there, and about 20 minutes from Phuket Town. So, it’s ideal for those seeking a relaxing getaway but not the best option if you plan to explore the entire island frequently.

We would definitely recommend it.

This place is an absolute gem! We weren't initially supposed to be staying here, but we are so happy we did! After a mess up with another hotel, this was the closest place.

The hotel is right on the sea front, with its own beach. The rooms are huge with a king-sized comfy bed and a sea view. They also have a big tv with paid Netflix and minibar. They have a cafe next door called the cove, which is also great, absolutely no complaints with the food.

They have a shuttle service to take you into town or to sight see, they also have free kayaking.

When we checked out, they let us stay at the hotel and use the facilities, they even looked after our bags and suitcases while we went out. When we came back to leave with our suitcases to go to the new hotel, they asked where our hotel was. Realising it was not far, they actually carried our suitcases all the way to the new hotel and thanked us for staying at their hotel. Honestly, the staff here go above and beyond, and I could not praise them enough even if I tried. An absolute great value for money!

The Mooring is the perfect combination of relaxed simplicity, providing the most relaxing of stays. Whilst delivering all the luxury and stylish comforts you’d expect from a high end resort. You are conveniently close to the city, whilst being surrounded by lush greenery and right on the beautiful calm Ao Yon bay beach. Without all the unnecessary frills, the staff are attentive and kindly facilitate you enjoying and maximising all the region has to offer.
It’s incredibly safe and quiet with limited road access. We cheaply hired the resort bike by the day to get around, which was very tidy/capable and all too convenient!
We had a fantastic stay at the Mooring and could not recommend it enough.

We stayed here for two nights while on a day sailing course. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean.
The ground floor rooms face directly onto the lovely clean cool pool while the upstairs rooms have an amazing view of the bay and the sea.
There is a private beach which is well-furnished with sun loungers and swing seats but also perfectly shaded with beautiful trees, so can be cool even in the middle of the day.
The staff are super helpful and friendly, loaned us the office plug adaptor when ours didn't work.
It is a small quiet resort, which we loved, no loud music into the night, no big drinking groups, just small, quiet and peaceful. A perfect way to unwind and relax.
They don't have a restaurant however, as they are right next door to The Cove, which has a fantastic restaurant, we ate all our meals there and didn't have to leave the resort. The views across the bay are stunning. I would highly recommend this resort and will definitely return should I get the opportunity.

Our last stop on our Pet Friendly Phuket roadtrip was The Mooring down in Panwa. This turned out to be our favourite hotel of the trip. We definitely saved the best to last. We originally booked 1 night but we loved it so much we stayed an extra night.

The great thing about The Mooring was that it is pet friendly there was no pet policy. There were absolutely no restrictions at all nor was there any pet fee. I believe if you have a larger dog over 20kg there was a pet fee but it was quite small at around 300 baht per night. Dogs were allowed everywhere in the hotel (apart from inside the swimming pool of course), in the room, at the pool area and on the beach. They were also allowed to be left unattended in the room as long as they didn’t cause disruption to other guests. But when they are allowed everywhere in the hotel there’s no need to leave them unattended.

There was no restaurant in the hotel itself but next door they have The Cove restaurant. It’s literally a few seconds walk. So it actually felt like it was part of the hotel anyway. They are also super pet friendly and we had all of our meals here together. The menu is extensive with lots of choice so even though we ate every meal here we didn’t get bored. Price is a bit on the higher side but it’s a great setting overlooking the beach and the sea. The food is great, staff is nice and friendly so it’s definitely worth it.

The hotel itself was great. A small boutique hotel, just what we love. Rooms are split between rooms next to the pool and then rooms higher up the hill which have better views of the sea. The first night we stayed in a garden room and then moved up to a sea view room the next night. Be warned, there are a lot of steps up to the sea view rooms! But how else are you going to get such an amazing view?

The rooms were lovely and modern and tastefully decorated. They had a nice beach vibe with wooden furniture and a white theme throughout. Both rooms were very spacious with a sitting area where you could look out of the window at the view (seaview room). Or a small terrace with seats to sit out (garden room). Both rooms were as nice as each other so it would just depend on whether you wanted a view with the stairs or a terrace and no stairs.

The pool was great for the humans to keep up their exercising by swimming lengths. Being based directly on the beach also meant we could take nice walks along the beach and plod along in the sea. There were no soi dogs on the beach either so it was perfect. There were a few other people walking their dogs so I got to sniff some butts which I loved!

The Mooring was a great truly pet friendly Phuket hotel. We loved it so much we extended our stay and will definitely come back again if we are in the area.

Very cozy and quiet hotel, with friendly staff. There is no breakfast or hotels, cafe. There is no gym, but small nice pool. You can have breakfast in the cafe, that is 5 meters away, on the beach. There is free transfer for couple cafes. Central Phuket is 30 minutes away, if you need shopping and fancy food. Anyway - it’s not a place to have parties, living night life! See is really really shallow, not comfortable to swim.
