The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket

Worn, musty, poorly maintained old buildings on a steep property with a small uninviting rock-strewn beach. Not "5-star," as Google labels it.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
There are dangerous unexpected half-steps down at entrances that would be easy to trip on, and low ceilings. The hallway to our room smelled like old laundry, and sewer gas was entering our bathroom. Many surfaces are not well painted or have a black growth on them.
The room was large, dated, with a shower and tub, but not all bedside outlets worked and there were no USB charging ports. The room has its own pool, but it's shared with the neighboring guests across a partition.
The included buffet breakfast was a high point - large and ample and catered to both Asian and American tastes with a large selection. However, the space between tables is so narrow that two people can't pass each other, leading to constant "traffic jams" between tables.
The hotel looks out onto a pleasant bay, but without the massive limestone pillars the region is famous for. This is a secluded location, an hour from the airport, which makes it private, but also limits your restaurant options. Activities are very limited, and they charge for kayaking.
We checked out after the first night, forgoing our other 2 nights, and found accommodation elsewhere.

This is definitely not a 5-star experience. Anyone calling it “the most beautiful hotel” likely hasn’t stayed anywhere else. We booked a room for three people under an all-inclusive package, but upon check-in, we were informed that the package only covered two guests. The third person had to pay separately in cash. The cash menu is overpriced, with a 10% service charge, 7% sales tax, and an expectation for an additional tip. Service in the restaurant is incredibly slow, even during off-peak times.

Our room was in a building all the way at the back of the resort, and to reach it, we had to climb an extremely steep hill at about a 45-degree incline. This got old really quickly. On our very first night, my 21-year-old son suffered from food/alcohol poisoning, which resulted in a night of vomiting and diarrhea. We ended up staying only one night before checking out early.

The infrastructure is in need of serious updates, and there’s not much to do during the day. Plus, the hotel is far from any other attractions. The place is crowded with large groups of Chinese tourists, making it feel overrun. Overall, the high costs, coupled with mediocre service and facilities, give off the feeling of being ripped off. Anyone who has stayed at a true 5-star resort would immediately recognize that this place falls far short.

In conclusion: this resort is extremely average, with facilities and service that don’t justify the price.

Room smelled like sewage. Air conditioner was broke on day one. Repair guy came and fixed it. Called and spoke with front desk 4 times regarding smell and "fluid" backing up in our bathroom. This was a bathroom we weren't using at all during our stay but the water seeped into doorway and the smell.............. everyday. Staff came quickly to clean it up after we called but we should have been moved to another room with the low occupancy at the hotel and my titanium status with Marriott. HDMI port was broken. I stay over a 100 nights and never complain. This isn't a five star nor is up to Westins normal status. We stayed for five nights . Staff was polite but the property needs repairs.

I am currently on my stay at this property and is BY FAR the worst hotel experience I ever had. My whole vacation has been ruined because of this hotel, I am actually leaving two days earlier than my booking, because I cannot stay any longer in this place. I asked for housekeeping every day since I arrived, no one honoured my request. I asked at least for towels replacement, still was not possible. The property is so old and poorly maintained, that even when we checked in the room was not looking clean and hygienic. The pool was extremely dirty and there was no one to attend it. No towels available at the pool. Not even the water in the room has been replenished once. I am extremely disappointed with this stay. It has been the worst spent money in my whole life. The resort appears like a 5 star hotel, but it’s very far from offering motel services. I will make sure to inform all my friends to never consider this resort in any of their vacations.
