Shaba Boutique Hotel

We booked Shaba Boutique quite last minute when our trip changed slightly, but so glad we did.
This is definitely not a 2* star hotel, and we would highly recommend staying here.
We booked a suite on the first floor. The room was so spacious, and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The air conditioning and fans were very welcome. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the decor is stunning, with lots of unique antiques and art pieces at und every corner. We really loved the spice tables too!
The filtered water available in large dispensers on the landing was brilliant and so convenient!
The location is fantastic for exploring Stone Town, and is in a really lovely quiet area. We didn't hear a single call to prayer, (which while expected staying in a Muslim area and not an problem) was a very pleasant surprise.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was fresh and sufficient, with a selection of fruits, pastries, eggs, teas and coffee.

Lovely owners and workers. When the air conditioning wouldn't turn back on in my room, they were able to fix it quickly. There was a small leak in the ceiling of my room the first night but nothing serious. Overall, great place to stay for 2-3 nights if you aren't looking for something fancy or luxurious. Not someplace for people looking to lounge in their room. Location was great for access to anything in Stone Town. Great juices for breakfast!

This is a great hotel in the middle of stone town which really punches above its weight in terms of the price range it is in! Very friendly staff, and a breakfast spread that surprises. We had a two-bedroom room, and the only downside was that the aircon in the main room was noisy and only had a very cold setting. But with a fan in the ceiling in both rooms and a functioning aircon, we got by just fine 😊

We stayed one night in this hotel after arriving on Zanzibar from mainland Tanzania. The style of the hotel is charming and its location is great to explore the city. Our bedroom was equipped with airconditioning and the bathroom was quite large. There is a drinking water dispenser guests can use to refull their water bottles. The breakfast is really great with a lot of options, including local food. We had a small issue with our room in arrival, but a very charming and hospitable hotel employee named Bianca made it go away and handled it very professionally, which had a great impact on how we perceived our stay. Bianca also explained the different local specialties to me at breakfast, which I appreciated and made sure we had a lovely meal, thanks a lot!

The hotel is meticulously maintained and beautifully decorated. The cleanliness is remarkable, and the staff are exceedingly friendly and accommodating. However, the breakfast options were somewhat limited and basic, which was a slight disappointment.
I would stay again ☺️

Location is absolutely perfect! Everything is in walking distance.
Lovely and unique rooms! The rooms are a bit stuffy - because of the small windows, but the AC helps.
Breakfast was great - fresh fruits, eggs, pancakes etc.

Wonderful experience. Room was very clean, decorated nice and bright. Bathroom was efficient if a little squeezed. Location is excellent. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Absolutely recommend this place
