Carmel Bay View Inn, Carmel1 / 32

Carmel, Junipero between 5th and 6th 🧭 Map
The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was simple but filling. It’s centrally located in Carmel and we’d come again for a weekend stay.
Room pretty outdated. Bathroom needs a remodel shower very tight and hot water almost non existent. No a/c witch was ok cause wasn't hot. Bed was very comfortable. Only thing made worth the price was the view. Other than that pretty much like a motel 6. Lady at checkin was awesome got us in early after long day of travel. Great location to everything. Overall good stay just need to update rooms little
Stayed for 3 nights and was not happy with our stay. The only good thing about this place is location. Paid for ocean view and got a partial ocean view if we looked between the trees. There was a problem with their boiler. The water would fluctuate to extremes and when we called in to front desk they said they would check it out. Nothing changed. Their wifi wasn’t working properly either. When we brought...
We decided to take a trip down to this lovely little town for a few days and this cute Inn had rooms available for an excellent price! We called to book a room and the price they offered beat all of the websites by quite a bit. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The Inn itself was very cute and conveniently located by the downtown area. The room was very cozy, quiet, and had a delightful...
I haven’t checked out yet but I’m so impressed with this place I had to write the review now. For what the hotel offers comparatively to others in the area, the prices are almost too reasonable. 10/10 for the cleanliness, service from both front desk and custodians, views, and location. We got the king suite ocean view room and it has an incredible view with plenty of space for three people. (When...
Stayed for 5 nights Pros: comfortable bed, room was compact but had everything we needed (except no microwave). Bathroom looks newly renovated. The shower is huge and it had nice water pressure and temperature. Room had two luggage stands. The gas fireplace was very nice. Room had a nice amount of lights. Entry front desk is a very nice area. Had a vending machine, ice machine, and suite case wheel...

The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it to anyone for its location and cleanliness. Will surely return.
The staff is incredible. Brett, the GM does a wonderful job! The breakfast is tasty, freshly made omelets, etc. The gardens are stunning! The rooms are clean, comfortable & quiet! You are a quick walk to the beach! We are planning a family getaway there this summer at this remarkable hotel! This will be a yearly visit for us!
Ian and Elizabeth at the front were both great. The hotel however, needs to dump their internet service provider, whom requires the hotel guest to call if there's an issue. Very aggravating experience or else service score would be 5 stars. Great views from ocean view rooms! Would be great if they offered room service breakfast instead of the buffet (yuck).
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we couldn’t be happier! The hotel is unique and beautiful. We have had champagne breakfast every morning and cookies every night! We can also hear the ocean every night. The service has been incredible but Don at the front desk has been the BEST. He has been here every night that we’ve been here and he has truly made us feel so welcome during our stay....
From the moment we arrived everyone was so friendly and helpful. Especially Elizabeth at the front. She was so kind, upgraded our room for our anniversary and made us feel like the luckiest people alive. The shuttle service was amazing and so convenient, and the drivers were so nice. We can't wait to come back!
I recently visited La Playa Carmel mid-July 2022 with a corporate group of travelers. I was the tour planner and guide throughout the journey and would highly recommend a stay at La Playa! The amenities included (breakfast, cookies, sangria, free shuttle to downtown Carmel) all enhanced the experience to make it “feel like home”. The property is gorgeous, clean, and interior and exterior show great...

Pros. New bathrooms, nice linens, helpful staff, great location Cons. Limited parking, threadbare rooms, limited breakfast. ( but great coffee)
Highlights: 1. Excellent location: a short walk from the beach and in the midst of restaurants, bars, beautiful boutiques and stores. 2. Decent rate: compared to other hotels/inns around Carmel-by-the-sea, Village Inn had very decent rate and included all facilities - 24-hour reception, complimentary breakfast, parking (limited) on-site, full bathroom and huge room. 3. 17-mile drive: starts a short...
This hotel is easy to find just off the main street and minutes from the highway. The anticipated weather forecast was rain so we weren't worried to much about the location as long as it was in Carmel. The hotel is easy walking distance to everything (stores and restaurants) and a very short walk to the beach. The room was small with a firm king size bed. The bathroom was updated and fresh/clean. There...
Clean, large rooms aren't anything fancy -location is the best feature of this hotel. Parking is a hassle in Carmel, so it was nice to simply park the car and walk around - breakfast was meh.

What a lovely place! We stayed here a few nights and had a wonderful time. The location is PERFECT for Carmel - walkable to the downtown area with all of the shops and restaurants as well as a local beach. There are also several walkable (within 2 or 3 blocks) restaurants outside of the downtown area that are hidden gems and worth finding. The customizable breakfasts are fantastic as are the wine...
We had an amazing stay at vagabond’s house inn! The rooms were clean and updated with heated floors in the bathroom. The fireplace made it very cozy. They provide daily breakfast and happy hour snacks and drinks, which are both included in your nightly room fee. The managers were very friendly and helpful as well. Location was great, too! Very walkable to all of the shops and restaurants downtown...
My wife and I stayed for a wonderful weekend in early October. The staff was helpful and courteous, even going so far as to take care of a small maintenance issue and texting us updates while out and about. We enjoyed our room, the breakfast and found the inn to be quiet and clean. The property is extremely dog friendly so some dog barking can be expected. I would love to visit Carmel again and would...
Everything about this Inn is fabulous. Rooms are clean and spacious as are the bathrooms. Comfy bed and convenient mini-fridge, microwave, fireplace. Delicious breakfast is delivered to your room and wine and cheese is served every afternoon. The single best thing for me is the wonderful staff-nice, helpful, fun!
Our first trip to Carmel was so special because of this place! Such a sweet inn! Randall was amazing and gave us a lovely tour when we arrived. We looked forward to wine in the afternoon and breakfast delivered to our door in the morning! The croissants and jam were incredible! Next time we are in Carmel we’d love to stay here again! My husband slept soundly but I travel with an eye mask and earplugs...
Amazingly relaxing, wonderfully dog friendly, and absolutely beautiful. I went in the off season and loved that Carmel was not covered up in tourists. For me, that made all the difference.

Very clean and comfortable in a great location. It was very quiet and you could select a room with parking which is off the street.
Exceeded my expectations for a $225/night hotel room! The room was clean, warm, comfortable and well appointed. Everything we needed for a 1 night stay. The fireplace was a nice bonus. My boyfriend is a very light sleeper, he slept through the night here without any disruptions. Potential cons that aren’t disclosed until after you reserve the room: - some of the rooms do not have a parking space....
We stayed here mid-week in December for 3 nights and loved it. The price point was affordable compared to the competition nearby. We were able to check in early, the location is great, a quiet neighborhood, within walking distance from downtown and restaurants. It's actually located directly across the street from The Hogs Breath Inn, and a popular Italian restaurant right next door. We had the upstairs...
Lovely little place, the room was delightful. Bummed that the advertised breakfast & gym did not actually exist when we stayed there, but it was super cute for a weekend getaway.
I want to start out by saying, I feel like most of the negative reviews are from people not reading the VERY descriptive website. We have been staying here for almost 1 week for our honeymoon. The website is very transparent about which rooms have reserved parking and which rooms are most affected by the construction on the property next door. The website also has pictures showing that the rooms are...
Nice inn to stay at that was reasonably priced. Good sized room with electric fire place. Convenient location which is within walking distance to ocean avenue. The room also had a microwave oven, fridge and ironing board. Downside would be the amenities in the bathroom. It’s good that they provide a shower cap but the shampoo and lotion are in very tiny bottles and there are these thin bar soaps. The...

Hands down best place to stay in Carmel!!! Very clean and comfortable beds. The room has everything you needed for a amazing stay. The location was right where it needed to be. Perfect distance from shopping and dinners. The added breakfast delivered each morning made life so much easier and it was all organic and very fresh fruit with other goodies. You will not be disappointed by the friendliness...
This is such a cute quaint little spot! My fiance and I had a lovely time here. The room was very clean and cutely decorated for us for the anniversary package, and the staff is super friendly. They brought light breakfast to our room in a picnic basket every morning which we loved, as well as providing wine and cheese for happy hour. The location is very close walking distance to shops, restaurants...
Fabulous stay! Loved the room - especially the fireplace! Wonderful basket of breakfast goodies each day - even accommodating the vegans and vegetarians in our group. The hotel personnel were warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Great location is the USP. It's an old place but maintained well. Not very convenient if you have seniors with knee issues. Limited choice of breakfast. No kitchen / restaurant. We stayed in a 2BR suite with oceanview. It's their largest suite and it had a kitchenette with burners, microwave, mini fridge n few utensils. Other rooms don't have kitchenette. Our room had gas fireplace too.
My +1 and I spent a few days in Carmel, and decided to stay at the Colonial Terrace. In short, the grounds are beautiful, the room was cozy, and the staff was very accommodating. The location is only one street up from the beach, and a 5-10 minute walk to downtown. There is a pretty good hill you have to walk up if you take Ocean Avenue, but we thought being closer to the water was worth it. We decided...
Excellent location, great breakfast delivered to our room every morning. Property grounds are beautiful and staff is very helpful and nice. We are a family of 3 stayed 4 days in unit 26 overlooking the ocean. It was a very spacious suite. We will be back.
Great location one block from the ocean. The front desk has chairs and towels you can borrow for the beach which great. Lots of cute outdoor seating and a fireplace which was cool. Staff was very nice. Our room (queen courtyard view) could use an update but was good value for the price.
If you stay here in late Nov, walk down to the beach about 5:40 pm and catch the sunset. And grab a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie from the lobby on your way down.
Good customer service. Rooms are small but vintage with a touch of home. #21B has a great view of the ocean. Few residential homes but closest hotel to the beach! I can hear the ocean from our room.

Ample and clean rooms. Beautiful property. Jacuzzi was great for relaxing after a long day and food at the bar on the property was great (and so were drinks and service). Loved the architecture and layout of the rooms and outside seating areas.
We had a great stay here. Very large and comfortable rooms with nice touches likes robes and espresso machine. The staff were friendly and we appreciated the happy hour and simple but delicious breakfast. Food and drinks can be ordered from the bar on-site. Walking distance to great restaurants in town, we’d definitely stay here again.
We loved our stay at the Hotel Carmel. Great location, lovely room with a fireplace and delicious continental breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful. Would recommend and stay again if we're in the area.
Fantastic staff, friendly and knowledgeable helped set the trip on the right foot. Beautiful spacious rooms with automated fireplaces, herculean water pressure showers, comfortable beds/linens/pillows. Will be coming back on the next trip, definitely recommend!
LOVED the outdoor seating area with fireplace, breakfast in the AM / cookies at night, proximity to shops/restaurants, and brophys next door. DIDNT LOVE no AC (if no AC then they need windows that make you feel safe having them open - girls trip and didn't feel safe at night having windows open...was sooo hot!!), over priced for age of rooms, outdated bathroom, TV didn't work.
Very cute and in a great location to walk around! But stayed on the bottom floor and wasn’t fun listening to everyone’s footsteps especially early in the morning and the TV satellite wasn’t so great.

Charming inn with lots of character. It’s expensive for a place to sleep. Clean but not very comfortable. An easy stroll to the beach. Front desk was never manned and staff were not wearing masks in the kitchen around the food.
This might have been the most comfortable night of sleep I’ve ever had. Picture this: windows open, light breeze, you can hear the ocean, and sleeping on quite possibly the softest bed I’ve ever used. In the morning, you’ll have an incredible quiche and croissant breakfast served by delightful staff. 10/10 would recommend. Oh, you also have a view of the ocean and it’s only a 2 minute walk to the...
Amazing, cozy little place. Very home like with amazing staff. They make sure you feel right at home and do their best to make sure you're comfortable. Although the best part is the breakfast with hand prepared dishes and self serve coffee, orange juice, milk, yogurt, etc. Also, it's walking distance to the beach and you can hear the waves crashing from the front door! Definitely a romantic place...
We like the location, close to the beach. Love the breakfast and building. Service was so so for us, lack of service upon arrival at 6:30pm (had to look around the property for a staff to open the front door). WiFi was terrible for us given we are in the back building, so had to go to the common area ( this was a huge disappointment)
Simple, cozy and true place. From your room you could hear and see the ocean. Very good choice if you want to escape from your regular routine and to stay close to the beautiful coastal nature of California either alone or in a company of your loved one.
Great B&B close to the beach, one of their largest rooms. Very clean and well presented. The breakfast quiche was delicious and I especially appreciated the tea-time cookies:) Feels like you're staying at an aunt's house, with some self-service aspects but also great hospitality for breakfast. We could hear the ocean waves from our room and see parts of it and Pebble beach through the trees. Only bad...

Amazing place! The staff Lucita is a nice and sweetly lady! The breakfast was good. You can walk around 12-15 minutes to arrive beach and shopping. Convenient place.
My husband and I stayed here for our wedding weekend and loved it! It was a wonderful experience. We got 2 rooms for family and 1 for us. Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed breakfast every morning. This the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in!! There were snacks available throughout the day. The breakfast options were plentiful and the option to eat in the dining room to take the food back to the room or to eat at one of the outdoor tables is great. This is a deal for the Carmel area. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. They are pet friendly with a reasonable pet fee and the rooms are clean and updated. What a great find in the area and walking distance to food, ocean and parks. VERY QUIET, TOO
This was my second stay at Carmel Country Inn. It is lovely to have 2 bathrooms as an option with four adults. I love the resident kitty, Mr Big and they really cater to your furry children. The breakfast frittatas are delicious, fresh fruit and lots of snacks/cookies. Parking was easy.
Loved our stay at Carmel Country inn. The location was great, 15 minutes walk from the beach, 6 from downtown restaurants/shops. Breakfast was included and it was a great selection. The rooms were super clean and pet friendly. Was able to park and leave our car in the lot after checking out. The staff was very friendly!!

My son, nephew and I recently stayed at this excellent inn, and we were all delighted! The gentlemen at the front desk and his daughter could not have been more friendly or accommodating! Our rooms were large, clean, cute, and well equipped. And the location could not have been better. I highly recommend this wonderful establishment!
We were visiting Carmel-by-the-Beach for a wedding last weekend and found this place on Expedia. We booked two king bed rooms for one night through the third party site with no issues in May. When the time came, we found out the day before that we needed to obtain lodging because my mom is horrible at planning things. So I went to their front desk and thankfully they had vacancy, and the rate was even...
Short walk to the main shopping street of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Room is reasonably sized and with comfortable beds. But lodging does not provide any self service guest laundry and I couldn't find any self service commercial launderette in Carmel-by-the-Sea either. So that poses a bit inconvenience.
It is very close to all he shops and restaurants at a reasonable price. Clean and is good value for the cost. Staff was very helpful
1.Best place and location 2. Room based on the price are best in category 3. Front office assistance is class apart 4. parking space 5. The "Fruit-Basket" with news paper lands to door step in the morning is a best courteous service. I love this place.
Thomas at the front desk was very accommodating and provided great service. The rooms were perfect for what we needed. Nothing fancy but it had what we needed and contributed to a great weekend. I’d recommend this place for sure. I’m gonna book again.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an incredible experience! When I arrived, I was greeted by a Panchel and attentive staff who made check-in a breeze. You are so lucky to have him. The level of service throughout my stay was exceptional—whether it was the housekeeping team, the concierge, or the restaurant staff, everyone went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and well taken care of...
I love this place, I come here with my dad every year and I think the price is great for the room. We stay in the queen suite and love the two room 2 bathroom set-up. It’s a super close walk to all the restaurants in downtown Carmel and a short walk to the beach. Parking is on site and right around the hotel, I’ve never had an issue with that. There is also a local bar located just a few steps away...
It's ok. I grew up in Carmel and stayed here recently for a wedding. This hotel was the most affordable I could find downtown that kept some Carmel charm. The location is incredible and the hotel's courtyard area is adorable. However, the hotel is missing some amenities that would be easy to upgrade. The towels had holes and stains. There is no conditioner or body wash or lotion offered. The room was...
Overall very happy especially for the price and location. I do agree that it's an older hotel but that made me feel okay coming back into the room with sandy feet, mattress isn't 5 stars but at least it was a proper king since we have 2 dogs (been lied to a handful of times in the past few years and it makes a difference!) checkout was very nice process as I'm always running 15 minutes behind and they...
This is a nice, quiet Inn. It is not far from Ocean Ave or the beach, but nothing really is when you stay in Carmel-by the - Sea. The people at the front desk were polite and checked me in with ease, but they did not do much more than that, so average, in my opinion. The rooms are a little dated, and the bedding was not all that comfortable. Again, it's not bad for what we paid, but it could be better...
The moment I arrived the front desk a gentleman named James treated me like I was family coming home from a long trip. So much more than cordial he was welcoming and professional and ethical. Greeted me with a smile as though GOD had told him to greet me as though GOD was showing up HIMSELF! Respectfully, Steven Juarez

What a dreamy experience staying at Edgemere Cottages. The location, the setting, the curated cabin, the scrumptious goodies Gretchen had available? I'm half hesitant to share this gem with the world, but, alas, I suspect it's not so hidden - and credit is certainly due. This place was all-around awesome! We stayed in the Devon cottage, and couldn't have been happier. You'll never want to leave! There...
We loved our stay at the fairytale cottage, “Devon” with a bit of an ocean view. We could hear the waves at night with the windows open. Lucky for us there was a full moon during our stay and we awoke in the middle of the night to see the moon through the skylight over the bed. The kitchenette was stocked with yogurt, fresh fruit, lemon poppyseed loaf, fresh-baked cookies and coffee with mints at...
I stayed here with my husband and three small children. We appreciated the fresh home-baked goods, comfortable beds, and cozy atmosphere of the cottage, but the space is incredibly small and left us all feeling a bit claustrophobic. The location is superb, which is why we chose it - very quiet, in a sweet garden, at the far end of the Carmel beach, just one block from the waves crashing. But for this...
Best place to stay in Carmel! The hosts are kind and helpful. They even made us delicious home made cookies and bannana bread. The cottages are cute and perfect. Great little kitchen and clean and comfy beds. The garden like grounds are full of beautiful plants and it is only a block to the beautiful Carmel beach.
I can't believe it's taken me this long to post a review! My husband and I absolutely LOVED our stay in these quaint cottages by the sea.
