The location was great, easy to find. rooms themselves were very nice. the lobby/checkin area was fantastic.
Rooms are nice enough. Nothing extravagant but they are fine. Really appreciated the filtered water refill station. Staff was kind and rooms were clean. Complimentary coffee pods that they compost was a nice touch. Didn't get to take advantage of the pool or hot tub but it looked nice. Definitely would stay there again.
Stayed here during Monterey Car Week 2022. I had some wonderful visit. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the room and it's surrounding property. Very clean. Super polite and extremely accommodating. Parking was always convenient and we were never concerned about our vehicles safety. Located "close enough" to Carmel downtown allowing quick access to those amenities.
Beautiful Inn right off of 17 mile drive at the base when you exit going south. Loved this place. Rooms are adorable, very spacious and clean. Service is great. Nice restaurant "tavern" with delicious food and bar. Really loved it here. Could have stayed another night. Wish we did. Close to shopping and convenient Plaza right across the street. A great hotel to enjoy Carmel.
Delightful. From Gladis welcoming us to a wonderful breakfast experience the next day. We loved our time here. Decor was amazing. Carmel mission inn is very nice AND welcoming. You wanted to sit and enjoy conversation and relaxation in the spaces they have curated. That to me is a hotel win! The restaurant is beautiful. The staff—so personal and kind. The food had artistic presentation, local ingredients...
Really loved this place! First time staying here. Got a great deal online! Nice staff, great pool but didn't get to use it cuz lots of kids around. It is summer so I understand!

Great customer service by Rene at front desk , who set the tone. The rooms are simple and adequate and close to the beach. The breakfast bar is more of a grab and go deal and contained basics but there's good quality food bear by
This place is all about the European vibe and the location. Nothing in downtown Carmel by the Sea is more than 1500 feet away. Great coffee and pastries 1.5 blocks away. Restaurants and shopping galore just right there. Rooms lack AC by they will provide a fan.
We stayed one night on a whim. The location couldn’t be better. Rooms were extremely clean, but outdated. As others mentioned in reviews, walls are thin and you can hear everything! Overall, I would stay again.
Staff very helpful. Room very nice and comfortable. The internet did not work in the room we were in. Close to restaurants and easy access to the beach to watch the sunset.
Excellent, affordable bed and breakfast in Carmel, close to beach and shops. Our room was pleasantly decorated and spacious. We were pleased to stay at a smoke and pet free establishment in Carmel that didn't aggravate our allergies. We will visit again.
Cute inn, they have breakfast provided and are in a great area in Carmel to enjoy both the beach as well as walking around the town. Rooms are very nice although not the type you would want to spent much of your day in, but that's not typically why you'd go to Carmel. Overall I would recommend staying here.

Attended HS friends wedding over the weekend. Place was beautiful & very big I must say, shuttle was provided for guest from the Hotel to Quail Meadows and Club House for wedding ceremony & reception. Staff were very friendly, food was amazing, had a wonderful experience. Quail Meadows was serene & gorgeous, loved it.
This is a beautiful property with some majestic hills in the backdrop. The pool is heated and there are small intimate areas throughout that have a fire place or hammock for you to enjoy. The main restaurant over looks a small pond. 9 holes of mini golf awaits you just outside your door and is complimentary. Rooms are nicely furnished, and beds where among the most comfortable I’ve slept on at a hotel...
This is a very nice, little resort nestled in the Carmel Valley. The rooms are spacious and modern, with very comfy beds and pillows. The on-site restaurant serves quality food, but the bar closes at night a little early and doesn't open up early enough for morning golfers. The golf course is fantastic. There's some challenging approach shots, but most of the fairways are relatively open. The bunkers...
Everything about Quail Lodge was amazing! All of the staff were super friendly. They provided some high quality gifts for my pups and everything was dog friendly on the property. The food was amazing. The view, property were so beautiful. And they don't charge resort fees. We've immediately booked the next trip before this one ended. Highly recommend!!
Amazing hospitality at Covey Grill! Was really craving an avocado toast and Damian was super accommodating and helpful.
Great venue for meetings and a wonderful place to stay. The grounds are what you would expect at Carmel which is "beautiful". They have kept the lodge updated, staff is friendly and overall the facilities is high end. Have been coming here for over 3 years for an annual meeting and have never been dissapointed. Overall a great place to have meetings while also having a memorable experience.

Great location,Step out of your room and your steps away to enjoy the beautiful city. Everyone was super nice, and our room was recently remodeled. Even had a nice TV to watch the superbowl on. I'm already looking to come back.
Stayed here for a weekend and found the beds to be super comfy, the water pressure was excellent and the water hot! Not much more that we need. Unfortunately it rained all weekend so we couldn’t see Carmel but we will have to return. And we would stay here again. It’s nothing fancy but it has all that we need. Great location, easy walk to shops and restaurants. Management was great - took care of me promptly when I locked myself out of my room. Would stay here again!
Great place perfectly located. The staff was out of this world awesome!! We rented three rooms all together with our family. The beds were comfortable, pillows were fluffy, the pool was clean and the breakfast was great.. If you're looking for a place to stay, this is it!
Rooms were fine and everything I'd expect. Only down side is no ac in the rooms, heater only. To be fair no hotels in Carmel have ac. They do provide a little circular fan but it's something to keep in mind if you're staying when it's on the hotter side.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it to anyone for its location and cleanliness. Will surely return.
The staff is incredible. Brett, the GM does a wonderful job! The breakfast is tasty, freshly made omelets, etc. The gardens are stunning! The rooms are clean, comfortable & quiet! You are a quick walk to the beach! We are planning a family getaway there this summer at this remarkable hotel! This will be a yearly visit for us!
Ian and Elizabeth at the front were both great. The hotel however, needs to dump their internet service provider, whom requires the hotel guest to call if there's an issue. Very aggravating experience or else service score would be 5 stars. Great views from ocean view rooms! Would be great if they offered room service breakfast instead of the buffet (yuck).
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we couldn’t be happier! The hotel is unique and beautiful. We have had champagne breakfast every morning and cookies every night! We can also hear the ocean every night. The service has been incredible but Don at the front desk has been the BEST. He has been here every night that we’ve been here and he has truly made us feel so welcome during our stay....
From the moment we arrived everyone was so friendly and helpful. Especially Elizabeth at the front. She was so kind, upgraded our room for our anniversary and made us feel like the luckiest people alive. The shuttle service was amazing and so convenient, and the drivers were so nice. We can't wait to come back!
I recently visited La Playa Carmel mid-July 2022 with a corporate group of travelers. I was the tour planner and guide throughout the journey and would highly recommend a stay at La Playa! Absolutely amazing views from this hotel’s restaurant and outdoor patio area. Beautiful pool below. Indoor is nice and clean with a wine wall and complimentary art work. We stopped on our way down the coast driving to Big Sur to inquire about a future stay. Adding this property to a future trip bucket list.
Loved our stay here. The view from the room was absolutely amazing! We liked that the room had a fire place too, which was nice when the night temp dropped. The staff was friendly and helpful and we had a delicious dinner with another amazing view at the on site restaurant. And as an added bonus, the bath amenities were vegan and cruelty free. The hotel was a little hard to find at first, but it ended...
Slightly dated rooms but with wonderful views of the ocean and surrounding area. Easy driving distance to Big Sur and Carmel-By-The-Sea along with surrounding beaches amd hiking trails. The on-site restaurant/lounge had wonderful drinks and a friendly staff. Breakfast in the morning was excellent but can be pricey without status. We went there for a brunch for Christmas eve... the place was really nice and the view was wonderful... the ambience for Christmas was really nice there were two beautiful fireplaces with a big Xmas tree in the middle with cosy sofas which you could sit and relax and enjoy the ocean view... about the brunch I should say that it was also good and delicious but it was not as well as the ambience. We got to this hotel for my sister and I's spring break. The staff upgraded us to a suite, and the view was AMAZING! We could see the sunset from our balcony. I recently stayed at this hotel and had an incredible experience! When I arrived, I was greeted by a Panchel and attentive staff who made check-in a breeze. You are so lucky to have him. I love this place, I come here with my dad every year and I think the price is great for the room. We stay in the queen suite and love the two room 2 bathroom set-up. There is also a local bar located just a few steps away...
It's ok. I grew up in Carmel and stayed here recently for a wedding. This hotel was the most affordable I could find downtown that kept some Carmel charm. The location is incredible and the hotel's courtyard area is adorable. However, the hotel is missing some amenities that would be easy to upgrade. The towels had holes and stains. There is no conditioner or body wash or lotion offered. The room was...
Overall very happy especially for the price and location. I do agree that it's an older hotel but that made me feel okay coming back into the room with sandy feet, mattress isn't 5 stars but at least it was a proper king since we have 2 dogs (been lied to a handful of times in the past few years and it makes a difference!) checkout was very nice process as I'm always running 15 minutes behind and they...
This is a nice, quiet Inn. It is not far from Ocean Ave or the beach, but nothing really is when you stay in Carmel-by the - Sea. The people at the front desk were polite and checked me in with ease, but they did not do much more than that, so average, in my opinion. The rooms are a little dated, and the bedding was not all that comfortable. Again, it's not bad for what we paid, but it could be better...
The moment I arrived the front desk a gentleman named James treated me like I was family coming home from a long trip. So much more than cordial he was welcoming and professional and ethical. Uniquely special hotel. Friendly and welcoming. Bright and cheerful. Completely dog friendly (we saw a few large dogs during our lovely complimentary breakfast and all were remarkably well behaved). Considering its extraordinary location, it also felt like a fair price to pay...
Just fantastic. A warm welcome (thank you Sean and Mark), spotlessly clean, homely, wonderful rooms, plentiful breakfast, and only a 10 minute stroll down a gentle hill to the beach. Truly, my favourite US hotel after spending 12 years here, and Carmel itself is damn near as pretty as Nantucket.
Such a charming hotel in a lovely location. The customer service was excellent! We loved being able to sit out on the patio of our room watching people pass by. Very enjoyable experience. We'd love to come back again! Also, Mary (at the bar) was so sweet and hospitable!
This is an iconic and nostalgic hotel in the heart of Carmel By the Sea. Now part of the Doris Day estate, the walls are adorned by movie posters and photos of Doris. There is a continuous loop of her movies running in the bar/breakfast area. The rooms here are relatively small due to the age of the building, but they are nonetheless comfortable and nicely decorated. Heat is provided by a...
A wonderful place to stay in the bed and breakfast Style. Shows a lot of the homie charm of the Carmel area. But perhaps the best of all, it is pet friendly.

Great service. Enjoyed the breakfast each day and the short walk to lots of good restaurants. Great attention to detail. They wrote a very kind card to wish us a happy anniversary, helped reserve great restaurants, and kindly brought a delicious breakfast to our room each day.

This is now our favorite place in Carmel!! The room and service were top notch. Michelle P the manager was truly amazing, her detail to service and hospitality was like nothing we had ever experienced by a host, she is the best!! Loved everything about this place. It's so convenient to central Carmel, you can just walk everywhere. And the entire experience from the front desk to the comfort of the room were top-of-the-line.
We had an amazing experience at the Carriage House in. Very nice room, great breakfast and happy hour. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. The Inn Manager, Michelle P. ,was exceptional. Have read some very mixed reviews. Here’s mine. Old hotel, which means character but some negatives because it has not been updated with things like AC and sound control, and elevators, etc. Room 46 was small but comfortable. The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was simple but filling. It’s centrally located in Carmel and we’d come again for a weekend stay.
Room pretty outdated. Bathroom needs a remodel shower very tight and hot water almost non existent. No a/c witch was ok cause wasn't hot. Bed was very comfortable. Only thing made worth the price was the view. Other than that pretty much like a motel 6. Lady at checkin was awesome got us in early after long day of travel. Great location to everything. Stayed for 3 nights and was not happy with our stay. The only good thing about this place is location. Paid for ocean view and got a partial ocean view if we looked between the trees. I haven’t checked out yet but I’m so impressed with this place I had to write the review now. For what the hotel offers comparatively to others in the area, the prices are almost too reasonable. 10/10 for the cleanliness, service from both front desk and custodians, views, and location. One of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever been to. The whiteness of the bed sheets put a big smile on my face. The toilet was very well cleaned as well, not sth you can say for most 5 star hotels. There was a nice fire place outside, which was nice to sit by.
Tranquil getaway a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Ocean Ave. Warm cookies upon arrival and hearty continental delivered to the doorstep each morning. Comfy beds!! Friendly staff.
This inn is convenient to downtown, which is walkable. The rooms are top notch, clean and well appointed. Views abound. The staff, particularly on the front desk at check in and check out are stellar. This is now our Inn of choice when we are in Carmel.
Perfect spot to stay for Carmel by the sea. Great free parking. Easy to walk to town. Comfortable beds. No AC, but that’s how it is in this town. A room with a balcony is helpful so you can leave the sliding glass door open with the screen and let in the breeze at night. This place is better than the inns near ocean Avenue, because it is very quiet at night here.
Loved our stay here. 5 stars for every category. The breakfast baskets were a great touch. If we ever visit Carmel again, we will definitely stay here.

An older, dated BW but considering how expensive hotels in Carmel are, it’s a good value. The owner/operator is terrific.
Cute and convenient but very dated rooms. Everything was clean, but could use a bit of updating. Only major issue was lack of outlets (only one in bedroom and one in bathroom which is used for coffee maker and microwave). Parking was also a challenge and we got lucky to have a spot in the lot when we arrived at night. The staff were friendly but would love to see a take-away breakfast or any option...
We enjoyed our recent stay at Carmel Lodge. The room was spacious and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. This hotel is also in the heart of Carmel, so you can walk to nearby restaurants, cafes, shops and Carmel Beach. Monterey is also only a short drive away. A fair price. They knock on your door and bring breakfast to your room. Beds made each day. Nice and clean. Hot showers. Large rooms, balcony, clean, fireplace, practical room and bathroom layout for family activities. Parking provided. Well located. Small kitchenette. Only thing missing for a longer stay would be microwave and/or kettle.
My stay was October 9, 2022. The location was nice and one block walking distance to town. The room was old and scratched up. Furniture, smells, carpet etc. The view was great. Would not book again.
This property is nicely located just off the very center of Carmel within a few blocks walking distance from main attractions. I especially enjoyed the heated swimming pool (felt like 80 degrees). This was a wonderful way to unwind and relax on both nights of our visit. It’s a special thing to have a heated pool for cool April days.
Excellent location. Free underground parking. Walk to everything, Shops and Restaurants 2 blocks away. Nice beach side walking trails along scenic rd. We stayed in one of the king suites. The room was nice and big, but it certainly didn't feel like it was worth what we spent on it. Staff was lovely, the Continental breakfast was nice and the room was clean, but it didn't have that high class feel that a $350+ room should. Breakfast was brought to our door @0800 in a basket, enough food and fruits to feed Us 4 and take some to go 😂😂 (yes, is included 😉) Our check out process was done by Kate, who we later found out was the owner, she was very attentive...
This review is long overdue. 5 years overdue. I stayed here on a whim on a holiday weekend with my partner and we had a fantastic time. Randy called restaurants to get us on the guest list and begged them to make space for us one night. The dinner was incredible and we had such an amazing night. Thank you Randy! He deserves a bottle of wine! Also this hotel had great robes!
Our night was perfect! The location is excellent - down the street from the beach on one side and the heart of the action on the other (yet on a quiet side street). We were able to easily walk the town and to dinner. The room was absolutely adorable, opening to the beautiful courtyard. I read several positive reviews about Randy and he is so wonderful and helpful. I am so happy we chose this cute,...
This was such a quaint bed and breakfast right in the heart of Carmel. Randy at the front desk was an absolute pleasure when we arrived. The rooms were comfortable and clean (and I'm very picky about cleanliness!). We stayed in the East building and I felt that it was perfect. In the morning you could hear the street, but that is not the fault of the hotel. It's such a cute little town, hearing the...
Very nice hotel and conveniently located. The breakfast delivered to the room was a good touch. Will definitely consider for our next stay in Carmel

Very clean and comfortable in a great location. It was very quiet and you could select a room with parking which is off the street.
Exceeded my expectations for a $225/night hotel room! The room was clean, warm, comfortable and well appointed. Everything we needed for a 1 night stay. The fireplace was a nice bonus. My boyfriend is a very light sleeper, he slept through the night here without any disruptions. Potential cons that aren’t disclosed until after you reserve the room: - some of the rooms do not have a parking space....
We stayed here mid-week in December for 3 nights and loved it. The price point was affordable compared to the competition nearby. We were able to check in early, the location is great, a quiet neighborhood, within walking distance from downtown and restaurants. It's actually located directly across the street from The Hogs Breath Inn, and a popular Italian restaurant right next door. We had the upstairs...
Lovely little place, the room was delightful. Bummed that the advertised breakfast & gym did not actually exist when we stayed there, but it was super cute for a weekend getaway.
I want to start out by saying, I feel like most of the negative reviews are from people not reading the VERY descriptive website. We have been staying here for almost 1 week for our honeymoon. The website is very transparent about which rooms have reserved parking and which rooms are most affected by the construction on the property next door. The website also has pictures showing that the rooms are...
Nice inn to stay at that was reasonably priced. Good sized room with electric fire place. Convenient location which is within walking distance to ocean avenue. The room also had a microwave oven, fridge and ironing board. Downside would be the amenities in the bathroom. It’s good that they provide a shower cap but the shampoo and lotion are in very tiny bottles and there are these thin bar soaps. The...
