La Playa Carmel

This place is a dream. The room was beautiful (with its own fully stocked little bar, complete with cocktail recipes and all the bar gear to shake something up yourself.) The staff was warm and welcoming. And the champagne breakfast? Fresh pastries, cheese, fruit, biggest and most delicious made-to-order omelets… and bubbly with an ocean view. Honestly, the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had.

Could not more highly recommend staying here while you’re in town. From the very moment we checked in we were greeted by the most kind staff who checked us in, and carried our bags to our room. Every single staff member during our stay was so thoughtful and kind and made our stay extra special. The property is stunning with views of the ocean around every corner! The location is central and very walkable to both the ocean and downtown Carmel. Not to mention the food at the restaurant, breakfast spread, free happy hour and chocolate chip cookies every night just put this place over the edge for us. They went out of their way to make each guest comfortable and we had the most beautiful and relaxing stay here!

15/10 recommend La Playa Hotel. My husband and I came for our 10 year wedding anniversary and had an absolutely DREAMY time at this hotel exploring the town of Carmel. Free champagne breakfast, daily happy hour, and warm chocolate chip cookies at night just took our stay to another level. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. From the lobby, to the grounds, to the restaurant patio, to the rooms, everything is perfection. There is a hotel car that can drive you to and from downtown if needed, it’s only about a 5-10 minute walk, but hilly, so depending on the circumstance it was nice to have the option. Both food and drinks from Buds (the hotel bar/restaurant) was excellent. The hotel staff is so friendly and helpful. 5 min walk down the hill to the beautiful Carmel beach. We will 1000% be back. Thank you La Playa!!!

Reviewing La Playa Hotel as a wedding venue! I'm a local wedding and elopement photographer and have worked here many times. I photographed here before and after the remodel, and while it was absolutely beautiful before, it is even more stunning now. The interior and exterior spaces make you feel like you're transported to Europe, with so many textures, colors, and details that have been carefully thought out. It's truly a photographer's dream - you can photograph in so many nooks and crannies of this venue that you'll never tire of it! Highly recommend this venue if you're looking for a unique space in Carmel for that destination wedding feel in California.

Carmel is a typical American wealthy town. The hotel fully interprets the old money style, revealing a low-key and luxurious taste everywhere!
Located in Carmel Town near the sea, there are a few free parking spaces (take your chances). The room is very small, and you can't even open the suitcase, but the bedding and toiletries are very good. The hotel's breakfast is very good, and the bar is also very good. In the evening, the hotel lobby will distribute self-baked cookies. The staff is friendly and smiling, which is commendable.

So many wonderful perks and fantastic, warm service. The rooms were beautiful and the hotel bar was full but not too much that we couldn’t get a booth. We really enjoyed our weekend away!

One thing is that we could hear the people above us pretty loudly at night which wasn’t too much of a problem but they stayed up pretty late. In addition the beds had great cozy toppers and had great bedding/pillows, but the mattress itself was pretty hard.

Overall though this place is a gem, I can’t wait to come back and bring more of my friends and family.

An unexpected hotel, every corner is a view, small and exquisite. The service is very good, the breakfast is great, the room is small but comfortable. The location is very good, 5 minutes to go out for dinner and shopping.

The design of the hotel is very good. I like the retro American style very much. The breakfast is also very surprising. I will stay here again.
