Pacific Grove, 800 Asilomar Boulevard 🧭 Map
I am sad that I can no longer recommend Asilomar. The natural beauty is amazing, but the rooms are in disrepair. The heater did not work, and instead of fixing it, they brought in a space heater. The sliding door to the deck would not open, making the deck unusable. Every ice machine I could find was out of order. Wallpaper was peeling. Renovation is overdue. If they work on it, it could become great...
If you are visiting our beautiful area, one of the less advertised places to stay is The Asilomar Hotel (Lodge) and Conference Grounds.
Perfectly situated within a few steps to the beach, spanning several acres, filled with trees and paths. This gem has a great rustic vibe.
Very cosy.
The Main Lodge has a large, locally quarried boulder fireplace, many comfortable leather sofas and two pool tables...
I stayed at Asilomar Conference Grounds for a 2-day / 1-night retreat. A few main buildings are located at the center of campus (dining hall, lecture room, guest check-in) and the residential buildings are scattered on the outskirts. The location of this Hotel is great. It's walking distance to the beach and state park.
My room was kinda average and screamed "family beach retreat on a budget"....
This place is very beautiful. Nice view & awesome sunset around the beach. If you stay on-site for the conference, you should notice that the room itself is old and honestly doesn’t smell good.
Was there for a company party set up for 500-800 researchers (teams) in the area for a conference. Not sure about the rooms & amenities but the view is remarkable and so is any other are I was able to see before dark. I hear its a great place to be and stay.
Historical grounds add interest to a lovely quiet setting along the coastline. A short sweet walk along a path leads to a white sandy beach. Seventeen mile road meanders thru between beach and grounds. If you like history, world class beach and views, this place is positively enchanting!

Monterey, 400 Cannery Row 🧭 Map
The hotel is fantastic, views and rooms and the seals nearby. All amazing.
But the best part was Conrad, who helped us immensely when our car had a flat tire and we had to leave it at the hotel. He took care of everything for us in order to allow us to continue our trip. We are both so grateful. Thank you very much!
Overall staff was good. The exception is the check in desk staff. She was not clear with her instructions, appeared unsure, and unwilling to provide assistance such as a bell hop to assist with carrying luggage to our room. My wife and I had 6 pieces of luggage (we have a 4 year old) and the staffer expected us to carry our bags and child across the property to our room. I had to ask if the bellhops...
We went down the coast to explore and got a couple different hotels along the way, and this one was the best we stayed at. Honest review, highly recommend staying here. Definitely going back to stay here again, the price is a little high but it’s worth it. It’s only valet parking but they take care of your car and parked across the street in private parking area. Service was the nicest people and rooms...
Wow. They don’t really need any more 5* reviews but wow. Staff and building is top notch. What a wonderful experience to live in their hotel! Lovely boutique vibe while being a 5 star hotel with all the amenities. From their valet, maids, engineer to front desk the service was impeccable. Wish they could give higher than 5*! Their restaurant schooners is also very good!
So this hotel calls out to me my soul, the architecture in itself....wood and brass it's just a combination of all that I find comforting with its warmth. It is inviting and to top it off it is Majestic with its secluded ways. Last weekend I was able to get away from the grind and actually sit and listen to the grand piano being played. I did not stay here nor did I eat here so unfortunately I cannot...
This is exactly what I want when I travel. Clean, upscale (yet not budget-busting for the locale), great location and some of the best service I’ve had in all my travels. From the moment we checked in, the desk agent was genuinely friendly, and not just trying to appease. Our rough commute came up in conversation and she presented us with a small token of appreciation, along with a little gift for...

Andril Fireplace Cottages
Pacific Grove, 569 Asilomar Blvd 🧭 Map
Relaxing place to stay. Love the fireplace!! Lovely garden and grounds. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Hot tub is really nice too.
This was our fourth visit to Andril Cottages. Nice accommodations and friendly, helpful staff. It was raining when we arrived, which we anticipated, and we were planning on staying inside and mostly eating out. A big storm blew over a giant pine tree across from our cottage which was 'exciting.' Their staff got right to work cutting it up and hauling it away, not an easy task! And then the power went...
I am so glad to have discovered this wonderful gem. We stayed for three nights arriving in the midst of a torrential rainstorm. Even though there was a large downed tree and other things going on the check in process was smooth and the staff beyond pleasant. We stayed in a stand alone studio king cottage. Everything was clean and well taken care of- inside and out- at the property. We loved the jetted...
I must admit that I haven’t stayed here but my friend gave me a tour of their cottage and the surroundings. This is a pet-friendly location with grounds to walk your dog and the beach is within walking distance. They have accommodations for up to 12 people so this is a great place for a family reunion. We plan on suggesting Andril Fireplace Cottages to any friends or family looking for a nice place...
Our family of five stayed there for a week and it could not have been any better! Great location and friendly people. The housekeeping staff and groundskeepers are top notch. We would definitely go back if we did not live so far away. Highly recommended!
We love this place. Each cottage is different and fully furnished. Had a fenced in yard to bbq and for the dogs also. All staff if friendly and just once you meet them they are like friends for forever. Big lawn area for the dogs to play. We never go anywhere else when in Pacific Grove.

Sunset Inn Pacific Grove
Pacific Grove, 133 Asilomar Boulevard 🧭 Map
Just right (for our explore focused traveling taste). The owner and staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. Simple things; like a bottle of wine for a birthday, restaurant suggestions that hit the spot and suggestion of trade/upgrade. Perfect location, although not directly on the beach, it's close to everything. Cute and quaint; meaning very nicely put together and perfect in simplicity.
Super cute cozy hotel nestled in PG. The outside reminded me of a Hallmark channel. We went in Dec, so the lights were on, crisp air, excellent location to the beach. The rooms were much smaller than seemed in pictures. Very clean, No drawers for clothes, but thankfully it was a quick overnight trip. The man at the front was very nice & friendly.
Hidden gem. You might not think this is the perfect place to stay, but check it out. It really was great! Clean rooms. Fantastically nice hosts. Fireplace in rooms and ceiling fans. We had a whirlpool tub also. The hosts told us about watching the sun set and how to get there, it was the end to a perfect day and so thoughtful of them to suggest. Close to Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium,...
Staff was friendly. Room had plenty of space and was remarkably quiet. Enjoyed the gas fireplace. Best part was walking to the beach. Pacific Growth is a cute town and close to everything you would want to see or do in the area. We would stay again.
Stayed here near the end of September 2023 not knowing it was the same weekend as the Monterey Jazz Fest. Did not affect our stay at all. Room was very clean. Staff are nice and helpful. The have free coffee (lattes AND cappuccino from a very fancy machine!!), juice, fruit, and snacks available all day. They have a microwave, fridge, and a Keurig in the room!!!
They even had bike rentals on site so...
Stayed there 34 years ago on our honeymoon after being bumped from a local B &B. It was so much better than our B&B who canceled our accommodation. Very memorable. Friendly, helpful, clean rooms. Excactly the right place for us. Romantic nostalgia. I am glad it is still there to welcoming newlyweds. We would highly recommend the Sunset Inn. Fond memories. From a couple from Wisconsin.

Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages

Really great stay! Has a microwave and fridge. Beds were super comfy! Spacious parking right in front of our room. Just like any other hotel, it has minimal wear and tears. Wifi worked great for iphone and laptop. View of the cemetery from the balcony was very peaceful, some people might not like the view but there was nothing wrong with it. Would stay here again!
Updated Rooms, nice area to walk around, near golf courses and beaches. Very quiet and peaceful nights sleep. Pet Friendly! Breakfast could be done a little better and hot tub was out of use. Other than that, I would stay again for sure!
We got one of the cheaper rooms. The room had been refurbished recently, but it was mostly cosmetic. The beds were very uncomfortable, and I had trouble sleeping. There were stains on the carpet, and the toilet smelled bad.
Staff are friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was nice; similar to a Holiday Inn Express. The pool is not heated, and the Jacuzzi was drained of water. On a warm day...
Loved this place. Stayed for two nights in a studio king cottage w/ fireplace. Was very clean and cozy. The chef prepared breakfast was very good, and the service was quick and attentive. Can't wait to come back.
The lighthouse was amazing! Me and my wife stayed there for our honeymoon. The location was perfect. Right between cannery row, and the beach. The breakfast in the morning was a little underwhelming, but the restaurants nearby made up for that. I would stay there again.
The room was just as pictured on their website, the chef made breakfast was great, close to ocean and Peninsula, quiet area close to all the tourist stuff we wanted to do. Would stay again!

Best Western The Inn & Suites Pacific Grove
Pacific Grove, 660 Dennett street 🧭 Map
The suites are huge. They are more like a townhouse than a hotel room. The inn is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to all the great sightseeing and dining options, but away from the throngs of tourists in Monterey.
Good value, the patio king suite is huge and a great choice for longer stays; the rooms are clean with a somewhat retro, woodsy late 70's decor complete with a wet bar, living room, full kitchen and dining nook. Huge wood deck suitable for gatherings. Very comfortable beds, gas fireplace adds ambience. Peaceful setting just a short walk to Asilomar beach, and a quick drive to excellent restaurants...
What a completely charming spot! Clean room, there were stairs to navigate but it was doable, good breakfast and overflow seating provided outside. The room was nice with lots of room and a balcony. The hotel is tucked away in a neighborhood and surrounded by trees.
Great location. It is a short distance to the aquarium and wharf. It felt like it used to be apartments that were converted to a motel so the rooms were large and there was covered parking available. The room we were in had a kitchen area and a fireplace. Everything was clean and the area around the model was quiet.
The Best Western Inn & Suites Pacific Grove has the cutest townhouse style hotel suites. We were in a king bed suite, which had its own kitchenette, living room, bedroom, covered porch, and yard. I loved the towel swan in the bathroom, fireplace, and the gazebo! And I loved that it is only about an 11 minute walk from the white sands of the Asilomar State Beach!! The hotel was clean, employees were...
This hotel is a converted condominium site, and as such, there were many room options .We chose the largest king suite and were very pleasantly surprised how large and roomy it was. There was a full kitchen, living room and large bedroom with two patios and two tv's. It was very clean. It would remind you of a 80s condo in the mountains, with nice rock features, an inviting fireplace and autumnal...

Affordable and comfortable place to stay in Monterey! There is a nice fireplace in your room and drip coffee is provided in the morning!
Breakfast is no longer included since the pandemic but still worth a visit!
Great location! But small things: Bed oddly close to the door. Bed had tiny square pillows in lieu of standard adult pillows 🧐. World's smallest hand soap. Can hear neighbors upstairs. Tea bags in the front office were open and exposed. Would stay again!
Very nice inn in a quiet neighborhood. Close to the beach, aquarium, and 17 mile drive. Room was very clean and the fireplace was a nice touch. Only complaint was we had a downstairs room and you could easily hear the people upstairs walking around. I would stay here again.
We loved our stay at Deer Haven. It is in a very quiet neighborhood area, just 1 short block from Asilomar. You can walk down through the historic conference center to the beach. In California, place names often refer to animals, plants and geographical features that could not have existed there. But Deer Haven is the opposite. You will see deer in this neighborhood. Even as we were checking into our...
Yes, the Dear Haven is a low key, low budget motel and doesn't offer a lot of amenities. However, I have stayed at alot of 5 star to 1 star hotel/motels in the past and this one is pretty fair.
The rooms are updated and remodeled but admittedly the shower is low water pressure and has other issues. The management however, is very nice and responsive and they post on their purchase receipt no breakfast...
Clean, cozy - with a fireplace in the room, great location and wonderful staff. We are early risers so I can’t speak to the breakfast offerings but the staff was very clear that it was very light and we were close to downtown anyway so we ate out. I would stay here again.

Nestled in the heart of Monterey, the Gosby House Inn stands as a testament to the harmonious union of old-world charm and contemporary luxury. Lovely inn in Pacific Grove. Very charming. Always available staff. Good breakfast. Also nice for hanging in the living room. We also could borrow some bikes to ride along the scenic coast.
We just stayed here for 2 nights and loved it!! Monterey and the surrounding area is super nice with so much to see. Gosby House Inn was the perfect base to explore it from! Staff is really kind. We stayed in room 20 Everett which was spatious yet cozy, beautifully designed. Breakfast is sooo yummy! And we also loved the snacks & wine in the afternoon. Thank you so much for having us and making this...
Great spot in Monterey! They recently revamped the interior. It is nice and a few things that needed updates got them (bathrooms, doors, etc). Kinda miss the granny-chic vibes that it used to have though. It's all modern monochrome palettes now. Still a cozy spot, okay price, and friendly staff. Will continue to stay here.
Lovely old house. Nice wine and cheese in evenings. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom tiny and old but functional.
I am not a B&B fan. I don’t like old and socializing with others at breakfast. They don’t have irons but hand held steamers that really aren’t want I needed.
Room was fine. Clean.

Spindrift Inn
Monterey, 652 Cannery Row 🧭 Map
This is great place to stay, although I had a room facing cannery row, it's great for people watching. Room had a fireplace which was nice for ambiance and warmth. Bed was comfortable, bathroom is a little small other than that excellent stay. I rarely give out five stars for service but this time they earned it, from the doorman valet to the check-in to the maids everyone was friendly and polite
Air con doesn't work in the building at all, tiles coming away from the wall in shower, chipped paint and water takes ages to get warm even though California is in a drought seems a waste. The hotel probably needs a refurb and it would be amazing. The staff are really nice and the location perfect.
My husband and I booked the Spindrift Inn for our 25th Anniversary. A couple days before our intended stay, my husband went into the hospital, and I needed to postpone. The staff were very accommodating, and understanding.

I stayed in Room 304 and it was beautiful. It had a fireplace and a great window with a view of the central coast. The marble floor and the shower was pleasant as well. I enjoyed my stay and it’s great location close to the Fish Hopper, Bubba Gump, and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory :)
Super cute place in a great location. I love the fire place and the view of the day. Quiet, staff is great and helpful, room was clean, well decorated and a good size.
Great location, friendly staff, dodgy fireplace. You can’t ask for a better view of the Monterey Bay. The room even has binoculars for watching the otters and sea lions. Nice muffins or toast breakfast delivered to the room. Only unfortunate thing was the plugged chimney on our in-room fireplace. Our room filled with smoke that left a cloying odor long afterward. I would love to return in cooler weather and use the fireplace.
We were there in June and had great weather in the 60s. We felt safe to take long walks in the neighborhood and along the beach.
Older inn that's clean and well located. Thought it would be loud with solid floors and paper thin walls. but it wasn't bad. Could use a throw rug or two. Breakfast was decent.
We were there several days in a rainy week, and the room has a wood-burning fireplace. How can that be bad? It is less than a 10 minute walk to the fishwife restaurant and to the Pacific shore. The room was huge, but older, and the fireplace had a big stack of logs next to it. We’ll go back again anytime.
Thank you for a great stay Pacific Gardens!!!
All the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Check in was a breeze. The hot tub was hot. The location was beautiful. The fireplace had a gas starter option so it was a quick start with real wood- PROVIDED BY THE INN! Such a bonus.

Pacific Grove Inn has lot of potential, but the way it is being currently run is very cold and impersonal. It feels like a creepy ghost house instead of a warm, old-school Bed & Breakfast. Room was nice. Is Jacuzzi tub.
The room I was in was very quiet I was in the very end 2nd floor.
Very enjoyable I needed to be compressed that 1 night helped me.
The location and staff were amazing!! The rooms are quite small but still work just fine for 2 people. Nice location but first and foremost the room was not worth the price. We booked a room with full ocean view: 655/night. Lovely motel in a great location. Rooms are clean but could use some updating. You can tell renovations have been done but not to high quality. Otherwise it was a wonderful place to stay. Safe and quiet. My only complaint was they have a fireplace in the room and they supply a packaged log that you can burn. Our neighbors did just that and some of the odor wafted down into our room.

What's better then being a walk away from the beach right. 5 star location and 5 star service/staff. 3 star rooms If you plan on just staying in your room then you may want to look for a little more updated room with bells and whistles. But really who wants to stay inside when your in a little paradise?
Nice pet friendly motel, good value for the price. The former owners always had a dog bed, a treat & bowls set out for the dogs that came. That was missing when we came this visit, found that the motel had changed hands & the nice guy in the office went & found a couple of bowls and a thick mat for my dog, which I really appreciated. Hope the new owners will make provision for the pets that come in...
It's a cute place with great potential, but there are some simple things that could make a stay MUCH nicer.
Please upgrade the pillows. The pillows were small, flat, and pointless. My neck was very unhappy after two nights.
Please provide a fan of some sort... it could be wall mounted, tower, pedestal ... any kind of fan. We stayed during a warm spell, but even with all windows open the air was stagnant...
It was simple, cute and the rooms were as described on the website. We were a last-minute late arrival the first night and they clearly explained how we could get into our room. I love that we could bring our dog too. When you arrive the driveway loops around clockwise and if you're lucky you'll be able to park right close to your room. I'd go back. The owners were very pleasant too. From the location...

Rosedale Inn
Pacific Grove, 775 Asilomar Blvd 🧭 Map
Great location reasonable price and the fireplaces were a nice touch. If you are staying at the Rosedale Inn it's a great jumping off point to Asilomar Beach. Rooms decor was somewhat dated but had everything I needed, plus a hot tub built into the shower bath.
The bed was comfortable, heater was very quiet. The location is close to everything. The room we had needs some TLC (maintenance). I have pictures if you want them. We enjoyed our stay though.
The spa tub room is awesome! I was shocked at how big the room was... More like a cabin or apartment! Comfortable bed, clean. Older facility, but very nicely taken care of. The owner is super nice and helpful. Would definitely stay again!
I booked this place on a whim and I am not disappointed. This is in a great location. Just ten mins from Monterey’s Cannery Row and a short walk/drive to Asilomar State Beach. I didn’t care for the breakfast as it was just cereal, coffee, and waffles, but there are so many other places to go when you’re here that it shouldn’t even matter. The room was quaint with a spa tub. It was a little old, but...
The location of the hotel is amazing and super close to the beach; however, the "breakfast" could improve... It is mainly just cereal, which is why I gave this 4 stars out of 5. Everything else was great!
Very sweet place to stay at. Fireplace in the room. Jacuzzi also. Nice and clean. Very close to trail to the water.

Good value for money.
Location is very convinient.
It was exactly what we needed.
The rooms are old but you get what you pay for.
On the way down the coastal highway we only needed a bed to rest it was perfect
It was a fine place. The room was clean and had a refrigerator in the room. We were able to get a room with a balcony facing the ocean and that sunset was beautiful. The breakfast box left a lot to be desired since there wasn't any protein but that's how it usually goes. They did call and let me know my kids left their tablet so that I could come back and get it so that was cool.
Great location in a quiet residential location near the beach. Had a cool island vibe with slatted shutters, no A/C and sliding glass doors. Get one with a balcony facing the ocean (upper floor) and you’ll be able to see the sunset :-) It’s a bit outdated but still manageable. Breakfast provided though simple. Great coffee!

Monterey Peninsula Inn
Pacific Grove, 1101 Lighthouse Avenue 🧭 Map
I have stayed at this Inn a couple times now and we love it. Last time we booked a block of 4 rooms next to one another so our immediate family could join us. It is a great location and I love the rooms with the fireplace and kitchenette. As for the AC it is very common in this area to not have AC as the weather is very mild in the summer and they do provide fans in the rooms. We saw so many deers...
Super cute room and friendly staff. Only thing that would make it better was if they had a table to eat on inside. There was a side table we were able to use.
Lovely room. Stayed in late November. Worth noting that there is no AC it looks like, so a summer stay may be different but it was very comfy and warm for me. Staff is fantastic and the location is very nice. I will be coming back.
This is the 4th time staying at this Inn. My wife and I think it's the perfect spot away from the usual tourist noise in Monterey and absolutely love it.
The rooms are nicely configured and most of all, CLEAN! That is my main issue with hotel rooms, are they clean, do they have good linens and are the bathroom towels scratchy. I can say that all 3 of my checklist items are exceeded by this very...
Was ok, nice proximity to beach, lighthouse,Monterey & Carmel, experienced no hot water, and had to reset the heater twice for our unit. Nice little whirlpool & firepit sorta hidden. Would go back
Very, Very pleased with my stay ! Quiet and cozy and clean. No noise from traffic, airplanes or elevators. Nice walk to ocean walking trail. Easy access to downtown. I would stay again if I visit Pacific Grove in the future. Jeffrey, from N.Y.
