Best Western Plus Dana Point Inn-by-the-Sea

Just remember this is on the opposite side of the highway as the ocean and the train tracks. We stayed in one of their newly remodeled rooms that was oceanfront. It was definitely as close to the ocean as you can get in that area. But it is still across the street and the train tracks from the ocean. The view was still very nice especially in the morning. The management and staff were wonderful friendly helpful and accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The breakfast was nice as well.

I stayed here after reading all the reviews about the family run location and the positive interaction with the staff. While we only stayed a night and arrived at 10pm, Phil and his wife were all smiles upon my arrival, told me all about the beaches and things to do. He also mentioned his wife's secret coffee recipe, which I had the following morning and it was wonderful.

Pleasant experience, no extra charges, especially for parking (rare in California) and I liked it more than the 5 star I stayed at by universal. Just has that charm and the sound of the ocean at night.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 years in a row for our anniversary (married for 11 years) and it was the most relaxing vacation/stay! First time we stayed there we had the jacuzzi tub room. The second time we had the ocean view room with balcony. Both stays were soooo memorable. Phil, his wife and staff have made it more than perfect for us. If we could, we would make it a tradition here every anniversary. The breakfast is AMAZING, my husband absolutely loved the waffles! Look forward to staying here again. Thanks again for everything, you guys are awesome!

The owner's were so sweet and wonderful to work with. They made us feel very welcome and were willing to help with anything we needed. The room was beautiful. It looked out over the ocean and we were able to listen to the waves as they came in and out. Very soothing. The bed was super comfortable. The only thing I might change is having a larger table with a couple of chairs available for eating at or games/cards. It's something we enjoy doing when we feel like staying in and have extra time.

The room we stayed in was recently redone, spacious with a beautiful view. However, the best part was the warm staff that manages the hotel. The (I think) husband and wife team were extremely friendly and went out of their way to add little touches to the stay such as warming up the room before we arrived in December. We will definitely stay here again when we come back down to visit family.

I stayed in an Ocean View Room with a balcony and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach and there was no obstructed views. I also like that the hotel is a smaller more intimate environment. The room is modern with really nice decor. Everything thing is set up nicely (including fridge & microwave) to fit the room perfectly. I felt like I was at home!
Phil and his wife (owners) are the most gracious people. They are very kind and will do what they can to accommodate your needs.
There is a continental breakfast, not just an ordinary continental breakfast. There is a wide variety of items to choose from. Waffles, bagels, toast, pastries oatmeal, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, juice and fruit just to name a few!
Even though I was there for a “Workation” the overall experience made it seem all leisurely. I will be returning! Oh and the price is very budget friendly considering all that you get in return, well worth it!

When I arrived at check in, I was greeted by Phil. He was so sweet and helpful. He also upgraded my room to a room with a balcony right in front facing the ocean! It was so amazing hearing the waves crashing while laying in a hotel room. The room was nicely decorated and in better shape then even the pictures online represented. Phil and the other staff were a wonderful and refreshing set of individuals.
