The Wayfarer San Diego

I stayed here for 3 nights in June. It is newly renovated (seems like it was converted from a motel to hipster hotel vibes). Sure as some people mention there are some quirky things about the room (e.g. hotel safe a little wonky, error codes on the AC, dim lighting in bathroom). However, these things didn't upset my stay one bit. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is not to be beat for the price. It is right on the beach and close to a bunch of restaurants. I didn't move my car once! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

On the beach. Board walk directly in front. Beds were nice, room clean. I recommend you reserve early and get a room in the front of the motel. More to see from the front. Or should I say there is more shown from the front...

Bathrooms: renovated & clean; great water pressure when showering; suggest bringing hand soap because there is none provided (not even a small bar)
Site parking: $32/night & worth it! Good luck finding free open spots off site so save yourself the hassle.
Housekeeping: brought clean towels & wash cloths & made the bed daily
Atmosphere: Quiet hallways & did not hear a peep from neighboring rooms

I live in Arizona & visit San Diego frequently. I’ve stayed at two other beach side hotels within a block or two. The Wayfarer ranks # 1 compared to the others. I would definitely stay here again.

Wow! This place is so amazing. We traveled with a toddler and they are very family friendly. We got a room with ocean view and it was worth every penny! This place is a hidden gem. Great food, great service amazing views. Loved every minute of it!

Nice, updated room. Service was very friendly and helpful. Walls were very thin - could hear people in the next room talking very clearly and was constantly shushing my toddler because we were worried that they could hear us. Access to the beach and nearby restaurants was very convenient. Parking was tight but it was great that they had a garage available for guests. $24/night for parking was not great, though.

This is an affordable, comfortable, modernized hotel. We recommend you ask for an oceanfront view of you like sitting on your patio, otherwise you are a hip & skip from the ocean boardwalk, local nightlife, surf shops, bike rentals, bars, food, etc...

Such a FUN location! We have been there a half dozen times, and like to go 2xs a year!

The hotel is right on the boardwalk and some rooms have a direct view of the beach. The pool and hot tub are maintained at perfect temperatures and kept clean. The staff was friendly and most restaurants were within walking distance. All in all, a great experience.
