Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach

Whilst staff were friendly, this doesn’t make up for the other areas lacking so substantially.

Check-in was 3pm. We arrived at 3:15 only to then wait a further 40min because our room wasn’t ready. Compensated with a drink card for the bar, which when you have plans and a schedule doesn’t really make up for it.

Upon arrival we also learnt that the parking under the hotel was owned by a third party and would cost $20 a day for us to use. We were advised that the only other parking options were either the oasis, which was also charged or street parking which is charged by the hour. Honestly, not having a parking space like other hotels in the area, isn’t great.

Rooms were okay. Bed was comfortable but the room and bathroom was incredibly old and outdated. Whole room and foyer smelt of moth balls. Cleaning was average, old shoes and rubbish still under the bed. Some kind of smear above the toilet paper and lots of bugs.

Sofitel really needs to consider some renovations because the cost does not match the product.

Sofitel was a nice place to stay, however there a few things lacking.

The view was good, and the room a nice size.

The bad:
The restaurant for breakfast has some issues. I stayed two nights, and both mornings ordered tea. The first morning I ordered a drink, got breakfast, ate breakfast and waited around. The barista was very slow and was struggling. I told them to cancel my drink order (and made a cup of tea in my room).

Morning two the same thing happened. It was a slow time of day and they had lost or forgotten my order for tea. I had to re-order (again, after I finished breakfast).

The bed is very hard and I woke up through the night both nights.

The service otherwise is good and staff friendly. I would come again but skip the breakfast option and eat out at a cafe instead.
