Where to stay in Platres

Vintage and beautiful. A "Forest" paradise in the mountains. Old, mature and full of history. It's my second time staying at Forest Park hotel. Stayed during winter, it was snowing and it was magical. This time it was summer and it was as beautiful as it gets. The smell of trees in the summer, listening to the soft wind passing through the trees. Just calmness. But the summer heat is strong this time...

Me and my friends were out here for 2 nights. We found in the toilet cupboard smashed wood that made holes and we found dirt in them, we obviously didn't put anything in there. Then I had my other friends tell me that their mattress was filled with dust and hair. The doorknobs barely worked, we had to put a nightstand to properly close and some keys opened other rooms. We enjoyed a one night stay. We arrived after a great day of hiking nearby. It is definitely a 'step back in time' place which we embraced. Basic hotel that is very dated but just what you need for staying in the mountains and using it as a base ir quick place to stay but wouldn’t stay here if wanted to relax at the hotel! The hotel is quite old, and while the room had air-conditioning and a nice shower, there wasn’t really anything special about it. The breakfast was limited and didn’t offer much variety, which was disappointing. I also feel the hotel is overpriced for what it provides. However, the view was very nice and probably the best part of the stay.

A hotel with lots of character and history nestled amongst mature pine trees on the outskirts of Platres. The staff are polite, very helpful and accommodating. It was an incredible pleasure to stay at the New Helvetia Hotel! The location and the view from the windows are stunning with all the pine trees right next to the balconies and the mountain views all around. Absolutely charming hotel up in the mountains in a beautiful village. Having a steam room and hot tub amongst the trees of the forest took the whole experience to the next level. Andrea’s the manager there was so kind and helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable.

This is a boutique hotel situated in a quiet location in a pine forest above a small mountain village. I had an excellent meal and a comfortable bed. Internal stairs, so not suitable for disabled customers.

We stopped by at this hidden gem with some friends that know the village well. The hotel is lovely, the food , exceptional!! What a great find, the chef is so good , the hotel is so Nicky laid out and am impressed by the herb and vegetable garden for the kitchen! Highly recommend you searching this hidden gem out.

After several positive recommendations, specifically for the food, finally we spent a weekend with a good bunch of friends. Our initial plan was to go for a tour on Sunday and have lunch elsewhere. The extremely attending Manager and later in the day the Owners made the atmosphere so welcoming and friendly that for two days we only left the hotel to stretch a bit. This was not our first time staying at this hotel, and we keep coming back mainly for its excellent location and the beautiful mountain views from the room balconies. This hotel is very well located in the center of the village and offers an excellent service, as well as a delicious breakfast for a reasonable price. So not much to report about except for the size of the rooms : very small, and the bathrooms: tiny. A pity, otherwise it would be perfect.

In Platres there are not many places open to eat in the evening in September but we got a decent meal here with a friendly helpful waiter who was happy for us to order food early but specify a time we’d like the food to arrive, which was most accommodating. We didn't stay at the hotel, but stopped by for refreshing smoothies. The smoothie was made from local fruits and was absolutely delicious with beautiful presentation. We had a little chat with lovely manager Chara, she was so sweet and gave us some plums from their garden to go. Highly recommend this place!

We wanted a budget friendly place to use as our base camp as we would be out hiking the natural trails and this small place was recommended to us. It is family owned and operated, super friendly and very accommodating. Rooms are clean and have all the little amenities like a/c, tv, kettle, small fridge and hair dryer. This is a hotel with restaurant available to non-hotel guests. It is at the roundabout on Troodos square. We visited on Sunday lunchtime which was busy. They have a buffet but we ordered something simpler from the menu. Service could have been friendlier and there were a lot of young children running around uncontrolled. We visited the restaurant just for dinner. The atmosphere was very cozy! Hot chocolate with marshmallows was amazingly tasty and the soups delicious!!! We had a mushroom soup and a veggie soup..both portions were big and very satisfactory.

Great place to stay during your visit in Cyprus. Well equipped house with living room and kitchen on the 1st floor and 3 bedrooms on the 2nd. It has some balconies and exit to a lovely garden around. We really enjoyed our stay at the River House. Very lovely setting with beautiful mountain views and everything you would need in the villa. The owner was very friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had prior to our stay.We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend the River House for anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing break.

Really warm atmosphere in the village. Parking spaces available in the beginning of the town and there are signs pointing towards it. Enjoyed walking around, you can do some wine tasting, enjoy a drink at the cafe’s, get some souvineers and there’s a monastery here too

Lovely picturesque village with a good mix of local culture, places to eat and nice shops selling local crafts. Mala-Craft shop is a definite must for a visit (located on corner by village car park) - selling beautiful, quality handcrafted gifts, made in-house by the friendly owners, at good prices

A fantastic taverna in Omodos with delicious food and friendly service. The meze was something out of a box that we had before with extra touch of innovations.The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended!

Really a big dissapointment. We had to order the set menu (meze) as there was no a la carte options. With the exception of the roasted pig knuckle the rest of the dishes were below average. Quantity was ok but overpriced for the quality. I would defenetelly say not worth eating at this place. The people were nice though and attendive.

This restaurant is a must if you are in Omodos. Food is absolutely fresh and delicious, traditional but with modern twist. They serve their own wines along the food , that make the experience complete. The atmosphere is very warming , with live music and the service is top - they give you time to enjoy the food! Probably the most peaceful place I have ever stayed in. Located in a quite, but charming small village. There is also an amazing local tavern down the road to eat at. 30min drive to the beach and 30min drive to Mount Olympus. Ideal place to stay in Cyprus.

We showed up last minute on a rainy day (didn’t stay at the hotel) and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful. They were happy to accommodate vegetarians with delicious local dishes like aubergines with feta, carrot soup, and Greek salad. The meat-free koupepia really stood out, and the meat eaters said the kleftiko was melting in their mouth. The fireplace made the whole atmosphere feel so cozy...

My daughter (5yr) my husband and myself stayed here two nights and it was heavenly! Away from the bustle of the city and the beaches nestled into the enchanting village Lofou. We found this lovely little spot whilst looking for a cafe. The food looked and smelt too good not to try. Had the chicken souvlaki and it does not disappoint. Defiantly worth a visit if your in the area or worth making a trip If not. The venue has Accomodation if your wanting to make more of a trip Out of it and it looked great quality. This Adult only Boutique hotel is 7 star Jaka and his sister are looking after the hotel what a great credit to the owners. The hotel experience and village reminds me of south of France Village Eze breathtaking views. The room was very warm and comfortable. I will be returning very soon.

Second visit to this wonderful place and it was even better than the first time. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay special. We were celebrating a birthday and the room was nicely decorated with very romantic touches. The gin selection is also unexpected. We will be back again that’s a given!

The best traditional luxury suites in Cyprus . Our last visit was the 3rd one on this place, this time on the shiraz suite !! All the suites are really beautiful with high quality furniture on traditional style , fire place and small kitchen . The 2 of the 3 suites have Jacuzzi! You also must check their bar where you can find exclusive Gin and spectacular wine cellar with wines from around the world...

Special thanks to the staff, the sweetest couple from Sri Lanka, so caring. but we need to take care of the water. Pipes are leaking, low pressure in the shower. An ideal and cozy place for a romantic. Very good selection of wines and gin, quiet location. Comfortable bed and warmth.

Extremely nice apartment with very enjoyable veranda. Unfortunately we had some small issues: one morning there was no power and we also got locked in. The host quickly came to get us out but the design of the door to the balcony should probably be revised.

A magical place in the Marathas valley, the village of Pedoulas, where you don't want to leave. Surrounding mountains, beautiful nature, clean air. Beautiful, comfortable rooms for living, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. In winter there is heating and fireplaces for romantic evenings. Nice design but no Service consciousness at all. Don't even think of breakfast - just go to 'two flowers'. Which means you have to climb up to the restaurant.

The room was great, a bit chilly maybe, but the warm comforter in the closet made all the difference. The furniture is a bit dated, but the bed was one of the best I've ever slept in. My friend and I were to this restaurant one week ago. The staff is very friendly and nice. The man who served us was very friendly :) It's cheap and good. We have just waited a lot for the food, but it's low season and they might be under staff so it's fine. Thank you!

Nice hotel in the center of Pedoulas. Inside it is all made of wood and there are some stuffed animals. The furnishings are a bit old but everything is clean and tidy. The staff are welcoming and make you feel at home. In the adjoining restaurant it is possible to eat typical Cypriot dishes such as stifado, moussaka and pork kebab. The courses are abundant and tasty and do not take long to arrive....
