Reviews
The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and charming. As an LGBT+ couple visiting Cyprus (which is a pretty conservative country) we felt comfortable staying there, and everyone was very friendly with us.
Personally we really liked the overall atmosphere of the hotel, as it kept its vintage feel (although renovated throughout, with only a few exceptions). Our room was beautiful, with a very spacious balcony, and really comfortable bed and overall very nice relaxing feel.
The terrace and pool area of the hotel were beautiful and relaxing. The breakfast was really good, with a big selection of food and overall fresh quality. We tried the dining restaurant and we were also very pleased with the quality of food.
We were a little sceptical after reading some of the reviews but overall our experience there was very nice. I wouldn't say this is a luxurious hotel but it is definitely kept at a high standard.
The hotel is located in an area with nice scenery in the mountains but it is well past its prime.
Parts of the hotel are falling apart and the interior is very dated. Very little has been spent on the up-keep and the hotel is well overdue a major facelift; food is over priced and the breakfast buffet’s cooked food was cold.
Some staff can be friendly but others at times seem to be very laid back and not wanting to really to be there or help when things go wrong. Guests are a burden.
Indoor spa area is a mess; nothing was working (the sauna or jacuzzi) and the outside pool is very deep/unsafe (380cm with no life guards on duty with many small children jumping off a dated diving board in to the 380cm deep water). And the floors in the pool area are uneven, the steps broken in areas. There’s also a smell of raw sewage coming from somewhere as you walk down the 80+ steps down to the pool. Far from an easy walk for elderly and passed them on the stairs while they catch their breath
Strange pool times 10am till 6pm most hotels across Cyprus are 8am till 8pm
Over heard a disabled guest complaining to another guest that they couldn’t join the rest of the family by the pool as there is no easy way of getting them there unless they get in a car and drive down to the hotel entrance where there is another entrance to the pool
One positive: our room was a good size and the bed was comfortable - that’s about it, it’s still very dated.
I would never stay again and advise you don’t either!
There are much better hotels in the area at similar prices.
We booked due to being told it has recently been renovated which it hasn’t other than a possible slight freshened up paint job in some rooms.
They boast about inventing a drink for the king of Egypt in 1953 very much where this hotel still thinks it’s operating.
This is in no way a 4 star hotel in 2024 maybe standards for 1930 when it was built needs to be closed and fully renovated
The manager acts as if this hotel is the 4 seasons and doesn’t acknowledge there been any problems in his hotel
Stay away at all costs!!!
However the entire hotel is very badly maintained, almost everything in it is badly deteriorated, including the "new" more expensive rooms. Rust everywhere. The elevators are often broken, the gym is permanently out of service, the main outdoor areas are left abandoned. It's a mess.
The restaurant food is very low quality for lunch and dinner, and the breakfast is average.
Overall, it's definitely overpriced for what it has to offer. There's so much potential in this place but sadly the management doesn't cate about it.
Great beds and amenities in the bathroom and nice soft towels! Basic breakfast but was good and included in price!! Super friendly workers too!!
I enjoyed the stay, the walks between huge trees around the place and history lessons this hotel offers.
It gives you the nostalgia feeling...
Very much recommended for the bird watchers...
The actual ‘resort’ however was awful. Swimming pools advertised were out of use, green and filled with algae. Everything looked really run down, not charming sort but clearly neglected with peeling paint, a few broken windows, and a ratty looking other half in decay and moldy. The hallways smelt strongly of damp and were very cold. Reception did greet us however what we think was the manager was stood in the reception hallway arguing with members of the cleaning staff. When going down at dinner time a strong burning smell was present and we chose not to eat here due to the state of the hotel it self
No massage, sauna etc as advertised nor other trips as on website or booking.com and really poor general facilities. No wifi in rooms and barely any parking facilities too. I do not reccomend. Only good if you are simply requiring a room to sleep in
