We showed up last minute on a rainy day (didn’t stay at the hotel) and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful. They were happy to accommodate vegetarians with delicious local dishes like aubergines with feta, carrot soup, and Greek salad. The meat-free koupepia really stood out, and the meat eaters said the kleftiko was melting in their mouth. The fireplace made the whole atmosphere feel so cozy. It’s a perfect spot for a rural meal!

This was our fourth visit to Apokryfo - our first one was about 15 years ago, and it still feels as magical as ever. Lefteria, Christos, and the whole team always make us feel so welcome. It’s the perfect escape to peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful traditional architecture and warm Cypriot hospitality.
The food is absolutely outstanding, and finding a bottle of wine waiting in our room on arrival was such a thoughtful touch. Everything is done to a very high standard while keeping that authentic, homely feeling. We can’t wait to come back again!

A very poor stay
THE GOOD
The hotel itself is beautiful and in the charming town of Lofou. The room was newly renovated, beautifully decorated and clean. The staff were friendly and breakfast was very good.
THE BAD
We unfortunately had a very poor and extremely frustrating stay at the property. After a below average welcome, we were taken to our room where we immediately noticed that there was significant construction and renovation work going on throughout the hotel. The room door opposite us was being sanded, the balcony adjacent being resurfaced (drilling all day) and the reception being rebuilt after it was burned by a devastating fire which significantly impacted the town and surrounds. I complained immediately and was told that the hotel was very sorry and that the noise would “stop soon”. The next day, the same noise continued the entire day and then, to top things off, I discovered that the downstairs section of the hotel directly below my room had been booked out for a private event that evening which blasted music into our room until after 11PM. Again, when I complained, the hotel staff shrugged their shoulders and carried on. I wrote to management complaining about our experience. I’m yet to hear a response. What frustrates me the most is that the hotel knew about all of this ahead of our check in and decided to say nothing and rather continue to charge us full price as if nothing was going on… Overall, my advice would be to stay elsewhere in town.

We really enjoyed our stay in Apokryfo. It is a very family-like small hotel in the beautiful town of Lofou. The staff was extremly kind and making sure we have everything we needed. We arrived a bit late on our check in day and the staff even called us upon arrival to check in if we need dinner when we arrive - which we needed and it was delicious! The rooms are very clean and equipped with beautifully selected furniture. There have been some light construction work due to the fire which would have been nice to know upfront but the staff told us when we arrived.

A truly beautiful and authentic hotel with great amenities, the staff and our host Kris were all super friendly and helpful. The restaurant provides great food in again, an authentic setting which feels very warm and welcoming. The view from the hotel is great and the town is picturesque.

We booked a countryside-style cottage with friends, and it was an amazing experience! The property consists of beautifully restored historical buildings that perfectly blend charm and comfort. Everything was impeccably clean while still maintaining a sense of authenticity and history, which we truly appreciated.
We also visited the private spa. It’s great to have the whole space reserved just for your group. However, there were a couple of downsides. The steam room was unfortunately too cold to sit in, so we couldn’t enjoy it. Additionally, the bathrobes provided were very small—almost as if they had shrunk during washing, which made them quite uncomfortable to use.
Overall, despite these minor inconveniences, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and memorable getaway!

We had a relaxing stay. It’s perfectly placed to explore the surrounding villages and hike up to the waterfall etc. the room was nice and we had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool.
We had a light dinner and some wine in the evening. We’d already an eaten a big lunch but the kitchen catered to our needs and brought as a lovey salad and stuffed peppers. The young waiter (I forget his name) was polite and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed without over doing it. It feels like a family run retreat and my wife and I can’t wait to return to hibernate for a few days to read, eat and nap.

It's a fantastic small gem of a hotel in a beautiful village. Aside from tastefully decorated rooms, the staff are so helpful and attentive. As a vegetarian, I wondered what options I'd be offered. I needn't have worried! I booked in for dinner each night, and the offering was superb! Thank you for taking care of me so well!

A stunning hotel in the lovely village of Lofou.
We stayed here for 3 nights in late June and Apokryfo was a beautiful oasis from the high summer heat.
The hotel is like none other, blended into the history of the village with tasteful rooms and suites in existing buildings of the town to make up the hotel. The pool is a lovely centre piece and very necessary in my view to make your village holiday super enjoyable.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped, I stayed in the Walnut room and loved the high ceiling and four poster bed.
The hotel restaurant serviced a very well priced and incredibly delicious dinner - there was so much food!

This must range among my favorite hotels in the world. A collection of renovated houses and rooms, often overlooking the valley and village. The entire space feels welcoming and open, the rooms are well laid out and cozy. There is a spa, a pool, various terraces and a secret garden.
However, two things really set this place apart: the staff, that’s welcoming, friendly and make you feel like home. And then there’s THE FOOD. Homemade, flavorful, local and just so so delicious. Out of this world.
