Good rooms - only challenge was that mine only had a single window, so limited cross ventilation. However in the summers they provided a standing fan, that was helpful. The service was good. The hotel is wonderful, with friendly staff and more than enough to get by. There is a supermarket about 1km away and a few restaurants close by. The old town is a bit far away with about 2.2km walk until you reach it. When you get to the old town there are wonderful restaurants and shops all along the roads. Really enjoyed the town!

Very good value for money! My family and I enjoyed both the comfortable room and high quality breakfast. We've been in Bamberg B&B. The position is ok: there is a bus line connecting to the city center in 10 minutes, and we found a parking spot on the street. The room was clean, modern and essential.

You get what you pay for here, basic room to stay in in the heart of Bamberg; it was pretty much equal walking distance to the train station and the old town. Staff were not the friendliest but, again, this was really a great value and no worries on our part.

Reasonable price Hotel in Bamberg. Room was clean, but small. The bunk bed for kids is right on top of parent's bed, dangerous because I hit my head several times.

The hotel is located on the top of the hill so if you have a heavy luggage then you may consider taking a taxi from a train station. It's still a walking distance anyway. Rooms are clean and cosy, friendly and helpful staff. Full continental breakfast with a glass of fizz was a nice surprise! :)

Please AVOID this place at all cost. If You do not arrive between 15 -20 pm You will not get access to the rooms.???!!!?? ...they will charge You full cost and You will not be permitted even next day ..and money are already gone. After reading some other reviews we weren't sure what to expect, but parking was not a problem. Checkin went easily. The rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is pretty awesome. We spent two days walking around Bamberg after leaving our car in the hotel parking area and though we logged over 23 km during those two days I'd still say anything you want to see is within walking distance.

We stayed from the 13. on the 14.05.2016 in the Arkaden hotel. Our room was in the old renovated wing, so that we could look in the courtyard. The facilities and cleanliness is very good. The ambience fits. You can tell that the country inn doesn't want to be a typical Franconian restaurant, which you can also tell when eating. Unfortunately the quality of the food varies depending on how busy it is as there is only one waiter and one chef. In summer you can relax in the garden with a beer. All in all well worth a visit.

The food (lunch on Sunday) was delicious. Very well seasoned sauces, tender meat, decent portions, fast friendly service and fair prices. The only downside: the very cool-looking light unfortunately creates an uninviting atmosphere in the otherwise beautiful and renovated guest rooms. Maybe exchange a few new LED bulbs with warm light for the old energy-saving bulbs and there will be 5 stars.

Very good home cooking, you can't complain. The portions are more than sufficient. The service area should be rated with 6 stars. Street food or food to order and collection is also great. We like to go to the mold or order the food by phone and pick it up. Also over the New Year's Eve menu was very good and priced ok. Too bad there wasn't one in 2017. We hope for 2018👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Delicious Franconian food and even for vegetarians there is always at least 1 dish on the menu, which is not the case in most traditional restaurants. Even when it was busy, the waitresses were always friendly and courteous and even the toilet area is modern and clean.

Really good service overall. There's water, bread and more in the room all for free which was really good. Also you can make tea or coffee. I loved that! The place is clean, and very well maintained. Very good hotel in the middle of the old city, where everything happens. It is very clean and the rooms are spacious. Would recommend this for a short stay.

The hotel reception is closed after 18:00, so you have to check-in earlier. You have to pay attention for time, otherwise you may not any person there. But, you may find some contact informations when you get there.. On the other hand, the location of the hotel is quiet well! You can easily reach the city center by a small walk and you may find a lot of restaurants, pubs, live club, jazz club etc....

The best feature of this hotel is that it’s smack in the middle of the most popular beer bars... but it’s not the freshest or coziest of hotels...

The location is perfect, all sights were near on the hotel. You have to walk like ten minutes for the most sights. The rooms are good, some looking bit older than my room. Since my room was new, I was lucky. Breakfast was nice, too. All in all I can say that Hotel Sandstern is a good choice!

This is a nice place located in one of the many beautiful alleys of Bamberg. The food was pretty good, not my favourite though. The waiters were nice for most of the time except for when we were about to leave and basically got pushed away from our seats.

Very tasty pizza (better than any of the pizza places in town, in my opinion) and we were served with a smile even at 23:00 when most places in town are already closed or would be shocked that you came in last minute. Definitely recommend.

Good environment and good service

I had a nice stay with my family here. The rooms were basic but comfortable and the location was very accessible. Parking was easy and safe. The room came with a single soap for hands/body/hair, but its Ibis so I wasn’t expecting very much anyway. Glasses for brushing teeth were available near the reception if you need them. Overall, it’s good enough for a short stay.

We stayed over the weekend its very busy and our room overlooked the front where there is a Brau haus so was a bit noisy, not the hotels fault. Clean, affordable. Great location. Bamburg is beatiful. The hotel was partially closed when we stayed there so check-in was a bit of a nightmare involving finding another hotel several blocks away where we could pick up the keys.

The room was on the smaller end but beds were comfy and clean. We didn't spend much time in the room as there is so much to do within walking distance so the size was exactly what we needed.

We booked our room late and ******* allowed us to book a room that wasn’t available. The proprietor sent messages in a timely manner and met us at reception even though it was past check in time and made accommodations for us. Hotel was located close to bakeries, cafes, old town and shopping. Clean, plenty of towels and bedding. Would recommend and stay again.

excellent except for the mattress protector! The location, staff, service and cleanliness were excellent. However the beds were incredibly noisy every time you moved the culprit being the mattress protector. Being a woman of a certain age it was uncomfortably hot due to the plastic/rubber material.
