Simple hotel, but large room and very good service. We had half board, and could choose from two main courses. The meal was not too big, but good quality.

Positive: -quiet location -clean rooms -expensively furnished -nice sauna with relaxation area -good breakfast - nice personel - well-kept outdoor area Negative: -already in the old hotel Conclusion: The price-performance ratio is right. The rooms are very clean and functional. A very good breakfast for this category. Would love to come back for a stopover.

Nice little hotel. Rooms are newly designed and furnished. The breakfast buffet and the menu selection in the evenings as part of half-board are plentiful, varied and very good. In addition, drinks are included during mealtimes. The staff are very careful and courteous. Well suited for children, as there is a playground, a game reserve and soon a pool. We would come back.

It's a beautiful hotel right next to the Blankenburg Castle. It's in 15 minutes walking distance from the train station. The room was very clean with a really nice view. My only complaint would be the wifi speed.

Very friendly dutch couple hosting this hotel. Beautiful located and as a political/social scientist I was especially fascinated by the fact that this is just a few hundred meters from the old BRD/DDR-border. Here you can combine nature with fascinating historical sights. Very recommendable

October 2022 we spent a week looking for peace and beautiful autumn colors in the forests and mountains of De Harz. What a great environment. Friendly reception even though we turned up without a reservation and the staff were busy with a wedding at the time. We had a choice of campsite and plenty of space (end August) and were able to wash and dry our laundry (€8 a bit much when compared with other campsites). The washrooms were a bit limited, with cooking, washing up, laundry, and chemical loo emptying all in the area of the women's toilets

Nice camping place next to the Hotel with access to all facilities and restaurant. Good place to start a visit to Wernigerode and its surroundings

Stay here for work quite often. Have always had a pleasant stay. The Hotel isn't always busy so breakfast might sometimes be limited.

Overall nice hotel - always friendly staff and nice, clean rooms. Breakfast was ok. The usual standard. As vegetarians, we would have liked a little more choice here. Overall, however, we were very satisfied with our stay

We had booked the apartment/holiday apartment with two bedrooms. We didn't realize that this wasn't directly in the hotel, but 1km further away in Haus Tannengrün. When we arrived, the bed in the second bedroom was unmade. But it was done quickly after calling. The second bedroom is not directly in the apartment, but on the ground floor and you have to go through the hallway. May be difficult for families...

We booked two double rooms for ourselves and friends through reisenaktuell, but unfortunately we only got very small two-bed/twin rooms in the attic. If you are looking for a quiet hotel without service, bar and restaurant, this is the right place for you. The hotel is idyllically located in the middle of the forest. No cell phone reception. Free WiFi with 1 bar. Dinner only if you book it, then only warmed up, no changes possible. The same cake was in the fridge all week. "Bar" closes at 8 p.m. "Biergarten" only with self-catering from fridge...

A wonderful hotel.. Not only do the rooms and the atmosphere score points, the surroundings are fantastically beautiful.. I can definitely recommend.... There is a sauna area and a large winter garden invites you to eat. For larger celebrations, a lovingly designed room is available separately... I was a completely satisfied guest...

Rooms are small but nice if you don't have high expectations. In other words, a small closet for things, no safe in the room. Service is friendly and makes an effort. Food is so holla, you shouldn't have too high expectations, you'll get full, everything isn't what it looks like. There's nothing going on at this time of year, not even in the hotel itself 🏨 and the outside area just looks like it does...

Room not cleaned upon arrival. Overall, some things seemed unprofessional. It's a shame because the hotel has potential. Blaming everything these days on a lack of staff and sustainability is getting annoying. After all, I'm paying for it too. Breakfast and dinner okay. Nicely decorated rooms, good beds. Staff tried hard. We were accommodated when invoicing. Sauna area was great!

Nice place to stay as a starting point for various hiking trips to the Harz mountains. Decently furnished rooms that have names like "Orient", "Paris" and "Himalaya".

It's a hotel and restaurant right next to the namegiving Schanzen. The location provides indoor and outdoor tables. I didn't visit the rooms but they will be fantastic if they look as good as the restaurant. The brunch buffet was just as delicious as a normal A la carte plate while you can choose to eat whatever and how much you want. The staff was always nice and competent.

Like many places in the area, it seems understaffed. But the staff is friendly and accommodating....2 years later...We stayed a week in the village. It's over priced and under staffed! The units are great, but for the price that we paid, it was disappointing. It's like an over priced Hostel. We paid extra for linen and the only things inside were 2 dishwasher tabs and 3 rolls of toilet paper. Not even...

Great. Note that the sauna stops letting people in 1 hour before closing, and shuts down the saunas 10 minutes before closing.

The swimming pool is public and is very nice for families with kids. We had a lot of fun there.

Clean, spacious, well heated house. 4 adults and 2 children sharing and we had plenty of room. In terms of amenities at the hotel, we only used the swimming pool and found it to be very good.

As we arrived our house was very clean. We were welcomed in a pleasant way. Our house was quite close to the pool/bar/bowling/etc. But some houses are located pretty far away. The swimming pool is nice with a fun water slide, and it has an average size. The swimming pool is open till 22:00 o'clock.

Cosy hotel for families with young children! Free cultural events in high season at the Kleinkunstbühne with pub. Highly recommended as the whole landscape is cultural somehow "dead". Empty streets in the evening in WR, GS, Bad Harzburg, Halberstadt etc.

Nice spot of nature if you’re nature lover and would like to run away from stress. The staffs gave me the feeling that they love their job and love to serve you. We have the Honeymoon room and I love it! It‘s worth for that money. 4 stars instead of 5 are just to give them a hint, next times at Christmas Buffet, just notice guests if they book the Christmas package that it wouldn’t be Christmas food...

Great place to stay in wernigerode. Rooms are more than awesome, staffs are very supportive and sweet. I just loved it.

Beautiful hotel with a castle view from the room. Everything is within walking distance. Rooms are very clean and staff is lovely and polite. Gets a bit loud since it's situated next to a fairly busy road but it's not a big deal. We rented the family room with kitchenette and it was nice and spacious. Highly recommend.

We are extremely happy to have stayed here. We had an amazing stay from the moment we got here, the hostess is super friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was great with so many options. Short walk from the old town and you can also walk to the castle. We were also very excited to hear about the hotels history! Thank you for our amazing stay!

I really liked the hotel and the location. Just one point which I didnt like was the breakfast spread. It was fancy undoubtedly but the quantity and the variety was not sufficient especially for the tourists from different nationalities. I understand its a very small town and not many things are available but atleast the basic breakfast should have been better. Rest was all good.

The cutest and prettiest hotel in Wernigrode, it's like a little castle! Parking was ample and free, the rooms were extremely spacious and very comfortable. Staff were lovely and helpful (they give you a little discount booklet for local attractions and dining), buffet breakfast was great and they had umbrellas to borrow (which came in handy for us). Only a short but steep walk to the actual castle...

We really had a wonderful 4 days holiday. Quiet and idyllic location at the foot of the wooded Harz mountains. Incredibly friendly staff. Tasty dinner and breakfast menu was good and was completely renewed. Good parking space. The rooms with balcony have a wonderful view.

If you're looking for a budget-friendly vacation, this is definitely a recommendation. There's a parking garage nearby, €8.50 per day. Otherwise, only residents' parking spaces and paid parking areas are available. Unless you park at the train station, of course.

100% yes. Cozy hotel in the center. The food is delicious. Breakfast is excellent. Fresh rolls and bread. Cheese, sausages, various jams, boiled eggs. Yogurt, juice, and much more. Dinner is available from two menus. Very friendly staff. In March there were four people, and now (until September 2, 2025) there are six. We'll be back. Thank you very much.

The location was very good for our planned trip because we wanted to go into the city and also take short trips from there at this time of year. The hotel is very centrally located. There was a parking space nearby that had to be paid for. But that was okay. Price/performance was good, staff was courteous and friendly. I think I would go again.

A few meters away from the Christmas market and the hustle and bustle. A little oasis in the middle of the city. The cream puffs were delicious.

The hotel room is clean and in order, breakfast is completely sufficient for the price, even if it's baked rolls, it's right in the city center and for a 5 day vacation 130€ it couldn't be better, completely fine for me

A small but very cozy hotel. The room was clean and big enough for two people. The location in the city center is also an advantage. However, there is no parking lot near the hotel, the car can be parked in public parking lots (about 300m away) for a parking fee. Well, it's difficult with the luggage. I still give 5 stars.

Simple hotel right in the center with a few lovely touches such as flowers and fruit in the room. You can make tea and coffee in the hallway. There is no breakfast in the house itself. You can have a good breakfast at the bakery next door. The location means that even the hotel smells of baked goods.

Good hotel, great breakfast buffet, friendly staff! Rooms could be slightly larger. Parking space is ample , a supermarket is closed-by! I've to say I though Schierke is technically a part of Wernigerode, it is a 20-30 min drive away from Wernigerode-proper, where the main focus of my stay is. If you don't mind driving to Wernigerode, this is a perfect hotel, and you can start hiking tours directly...

Breakfast was great. Large selection of food. Rooms were good size and bed comfortable. Pillows were like pancakes, had to use pillows from sofa. Make sure you bring your own wash clothes. If not, you shower with soap and your hand. Check Restaurant in the area for availability. Most of them require reservations. We were turned away at several because we did not have reservations
