We were only here for one night, but would choose this hotel again on every subsequent visit to Oberhausen. Quiet location, the staff is very, very friendly and the heart is in the right place, whether at the reception, in the service or in the rooms. Great breakfast, beautiful rooms, but most importantly the people here are really nice. And that in these times when you unfortunately have to experience more of this, everyone is unhappy and the need to complain about everything and everyone and things only come into question. Thank you for a pleasant, albeit short time!

We checked in and went right to our city tour. After the tour late in the evening we showered and got ready to sleep. As we got in to the bed, it smelled like some sweaty man slept in there right before us. We asked at the reception if they could do something about it. But the nightshift receptionist could barely speak german and gave us only a pair of new pillows. That did not help with the stench. The next day the beddings were changed, but the smell remained. It was the mattress that was stinking. We did not sleep well and had to shower right after.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights during NYE.
+ Rooms are clean and spacious
+ Breakfast is good and offers alternatives for vegans & customers with intolerances
+ Night shift gentlemen in the reception was very kind to switch our rooms
- rooms need renovation
- issues with hot water
- major noise early in the morning by cleaning company. Can happen....
- our room was not cleaned. The receptionist (Venn) explained that this was the last day of the cleaning company and asked for our understanding. Can happen....
-We booked the hotel to work on our wedding plan and we asked the 2 ladies who work at the reception/kitchen (Venn and Engelhardt) to seat at the huge dining area after breakfast so that we can work with the the laptop comfortably for few hours. They refused because the dining room had to be cleaned. After 2 hours of seating uncomfortably on the low sofas at the reception we asked again but they said that it's against the rules. We asked their understanding but they were totally inflexible. I respect rules but this can not happen! In a hotel that is not perfect, a friendly customer service can compensate .....but unfortunately not in this case with Venn and Engelhart. Pity.

I had a fantastic stay at this budget hotel! The room was clean and had all the essentials I needed for a comfortable stay. The well-equipped and spotless bathroom was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. It was great value for money, and I highly recommend it.

Clean 0 Star Hotel - That it!
Hotel is located somewhere in the industrial area. Very bad public transport connection.
Small Hotel Bar in the lobby, might be noisy for the guests.
Restaurant Food is below canteen quality. We had a three course menu booked. The worst I ever had in a hotel. Intercontinental Breakfast next day was surprisingly OK. No Coffee Service even we had cups on the table.
Service, engaged and friendly but not experienced and professional. Might be excused due covid situation.
Partly defekt bathroom fittings! Unacceptable.
Power out at midnight and no electricity till next morning. They offered the affected guests to change the rooms in darkness without support. Unbelievable!!!

Good value hotel,but does it deserve a 4 star rating as the sign by the door claims? Let down by the very slow restaurant service, perhaps due to lack of staff, but how can a 4 star hotel restaurant have missing items on a dinner menu 2 days in a row?
Location is good, on a modern Industrial estate, but next to a railway line with lots of trains passing (double glazed windows do cut out the noise however).
The hope is the service and food selection improves to reach the usually high Mercure level. Be prepared also to spend 18 euros for the good breakfast buffet.
