Park Inn By Radisson Wismar in Wismar

Already upon arrival the issues started. Right before us a bus load of people arrived and that was obviously too much to handle for the front desk staff. We stood in line, waiting for them to get their keys and when it was our turn and the guy behind the desk realized we were not part of the bus group we simply got a "I can't deal with you right now, you can talk to my colleague". Talk about a warm welcome to Wismar... The colleague in question had been standing there the whole time, but hadn't made anything to indicate that we should go to her. Anyway, eventually got checked in and although the room was decently nice, we did not get the one we had booked. We had booked with two separate beds (since we're two friends travelling) but got a double bed. From their perspective we had been upgraded, probably because the hotel seemed full. We separated the beds which by all means worked, but we didn't get another bedsheet so we had to improvise with brought along blankets of our own. In the bathroom, the floor is constructed in a weird way, so when taking a shower the water runs AWAY from the shower corner and pools around the toilet. This seems to be a known problem since a rake was provided, but still... The weird thing about this hotel is, in most ways it looks brand new, but there are small signs everywhere that it doesn't really work. The staff not being able to handle pressure is one thing, but the hotel itself don't seem to get much maintenance. One power outlet was loose, the one in the bathroom not properly encapsulated, the soap dispensers in the bathroom was empty and/or broken, there was limescale in the wash basin, dirty grout and silicon joints, and other things like that, which you don't really expect at a hotel that charges +200 euros per night. The positives was that breakfast was really good and AC worked great which was a dealbreaker in the 35 degree heat. Because of that, I still give two stars, but will probably book another hotel if we're ever going back to Wismar.
