Reviews
I was worried by some of the reviews I read before coming. The Agency that booked my reservation ended up taking my money without making the reservation. I only found this out when I called the hotel directly the day before my check-in day.
The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful. They spoke to me over the phone from another country, and worked hard to make sure the confusion with the travel agency was resolved before my arrival.
We arrived several hours earlier then check-in started, however the hotel staff offered to put our bags in a secure room while I took my daughter to the beach.
We booked a standard room, but since it was at a a higher level, we had a beautiful view of the ocean.
The restaurant/bar Staff have also been very friendly/helpful.
Since our arrival everything has been better than expected, however we will see if things stay this great before our departure. So far, So Great !
Stand by for final review!
I asked the receptionist if I could check in for the first night, as I had paid for one day, and then pay the rest once I received the transferred money, likely by the next day. They said no, as the manager wasn’t available, and they couldn’t make any decisions without them. I then asked if I could modify my reservation to three days until Monday, when the transfer would go through and I could pay for the remaining days. Again, they said no. They insisted that the check-in had to be for the full five days since the reservation was made for the conference. They explained that, since it was Saturday, neither the manager nor the conference group was available, so they couldn’t do anything and apologized.
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. I almost had to spend the night outside. Luckily, I remembered I had some cash, so I paid using a combination of cash and card. I was disappointed that they seemed to only follow strict rules and couldn’t help or make any adjustments.
To add to the disappointment, the internet in the room was terrible with only a weak signal, and the shower gel bottle was empty.
For future guests: the pros and cons
Pros:
Location — This is the hotel’s main trump card. Just a 3-minute walk to the beach, and you’re already feeling the sand beneath your feet. The quiet neighborhood is a gem for those who appreciate peace. Not a sound from passing cars, just tranquility.
Amenities. The room came with a small safe for storing valuables — it’s nice when such details are considered. And the two bottles of water upon arrival? A thoughtful gesture, but sadly, that was the only sign of care throughout the stay.
Price. The room rate didn’t break the bank, if you don’t count the unexpected tax that wasn’t mentioned upfront. This unpleasant surprise slightly tarnished the experience.
Cons:
Room size. When booking a double room, I naturally expected space and comfort. What did I get? A tiny 12-square-meter room and a 190x140 cm bed for two. We slept like two yoga practitioners, trying not to bump into each other.
Interior design. The designer must have been in a creative mood, otherwise, how else can you explain the TV being angled towards the desk instead of the bed? One chair and a tiny table hardly make for a cozy tea or dinner in the room. The bathroom had its own "adventures": opening the door required some force, or you risked breaking a nail.
Breakfast. If you enjoy variety, you won’t find it here. By the third day, I was already thinking about skipping breakfast. Every morning it’s the same thing — it quickly becomes monotonous.
Housekeeping. Housekeeping seemed to consist only of towel replacement and bed-making. The tea that ran out on the second day was never replenished.
These minor issues aren’t critical on their own, but together they create an overall impression that, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired.
For the hotel staff
Your hotel has potential, but details matter. Attention to detail is the key to success in the hospitality industry. Each overlooked aspect may seem insignificant, but they add up and ultimately leave guests disappointed. I hope you take my comments into consideration and improve your service. If perfection is your goal, there’s still a long way to go.
1) We caught the cleaner who me and my friend thought we befriended, going through my friend’s bag! We told hotel staff and was informed later on the day that the cleaner had been let go and we was given €8 champagne as compensation. This ruined our experience entirely.
2) There was a leak in our hotel room on the third night, we was given a new room however, we kept getting locked out of our new room because the room key cards kept being faulty.
Pro: close to the beach and local mall, restaurants/ cafés/ bakeries available :) Easy access to underground
Worst part of the 4 night stay was an attempted robbery on the second night when two people tried to steal from us but gave up after my friend punched one and the hotel security came out to see what was going on, don't wear anything expensive, keep everything close at all times of the day. Then, while waiting for a taxi to the airport on the morning of our flight one of our rucksacks was stolen just before the taxi arrived. Clever, they distracted us by questioning our names on the taxi paperwork and when my friend got up to show them an accomplice swapped out a black bag for a black bag - suggest all luggage is pink and green stripes . Seems like the area is a target for thieves and muggers. BEWARE. Both incidents happened right by the hotel entrance, suggest they need CCTV and security as this is not the only review like this.
Please please do not stay here for your own safety's sake.
The room was small, which was mostly ok, but the desk was so tiny I could barely put my laptop down on it, or fit my legs under it, because it had a minifridge taking up most space. The sliding door to the bathroom would only open up to a third of the way, so I had to get in and out sideways. When I mentioned it to the staff, they came to fix it, by forcing it open, so it was open until I left the hotel.
The breakfast was limited in quality and in quantity. On the second morning, the only bread I could get in my 10 minute breakfast was so stale I could have broken a window with it. But the worst part was cleanliness. More than half of all plates and cups I picked had food residue, and the space was not very clean overall. On both days, so it was not a one off.
Overall a bad option for this area. Go to the Princess or the Diagonal Zero, if you have the option.
Now the towels, they are very very old, so old that they look beige instead of white and they don’t absorb water, I used a t-shirt for my face. The sheets have lost those « hairy » things that make them thick and absorbant.
And I was charged 125 €/ night without breakfast. I forgot something, the young receptionist was very arrogant and not friendly at all.
I had one the worst hotel stay experience ever though I travelled all over the world being a diplomat. The hotel is over rated, it should be a 3 star only so I don’t recommend at all, run run ….
Rooms are small but OK. The cleaning team is great - great English, very courteous and does everything to keep the room tidy and clean.
However, the reception team must improve a lot. They kept making promises I can get a room with a better sea view 3 days in a row without actually making it happen. First, they said tomorrow, then again tomorrow, then today but later. Initially it was offered for free then the reception team said that I must pay. No communication, not really polite to the customer, seems like they just want to make you abandon your request by making promises which turn out to be not possible or even false. I finally dropped my request due to frustration. I would think twice before booking here again.
PS
Following hotel response - Sure, you have your point of view and perception and I have and I stay behind mine point of view.
But the location is really good, close to beach and Diagonal Mar.
