Ibersol Sorra d'Or

We travelled as a four my husband and I and my daughter and her boyfriend.
We were a little dubious after reading some of the reviews but were actually quite surprised.

Our transfer bus from the hotel dropped us a short walk away as I don't think there is anywhere to get close to the hotel but it is only a short walk. It also picked us up there. Just outside the splash hotel.

The rooms were acceptable, clean and the maid came every morning to make the bed and clean the bathroom. We were on the 4th floor and she came about 11am, she was happy to come in whilst we sat on the balcony.

The double beds are small and not the comfiest. Shower was always hot and had plenty of pressure. There's Netflix programmed on the TV and we were able to sign into our account.

We had two rooms one that overlooked the pool and one that over looked the sea. Rooms 411 and 412. The sea facing room had the sum on the balcony all day and the room facing the pool got it into the late evening. The balcony facing the sea are bigger than the balcony facing the pool and the view is fantastic.

The train station is just outside the hotel and is very convenient with trains running regularly. We visited Barcelona which is about 1hour 20 minutes away and costs just over 11euros return. Get off the stop after the main Barcelona one. Once in Barcelona we got an underground pass for 10 stops in zone 1 which was about 12 euros.

We also visited LLoret De Mar and Callela both costing around 5 euros. To get to Lioret DeMar you get of the train at Blanes and get a bus for 2euro60. Lots to do there for younger generation. There's some fast food restaurants. For Callela its a direct rain and has some shops and again a McDonalds if you were travelling with teenagers like we were. There is a few shops in Malgret De Mar and the walk down to the next town is not far.

The food at the hotel was repetitive and towards the end of the seven days became very boring and it was never hot just luke warm. We ate in a restaurant in the next town once and in McDonalds a couple of times.

All inclusive you have to pay for a beaker when you arrive to get your drinks in and you get this back at the end of your stay. 2 euro. The drinks on all inclusive are limited and the red wine is vile. The evening entertainment is music from a system and the only night there was entertainment of any kind it was so busy we couldn't see it. There's a pol table and a air hockey machine in the bar. A karaoke pub a short walk away.

All in all not a bad hotel for the money. The pool is not heated and none of us got into the water but it was May and the weather was not great all week. Contrary to what we had read the sun does get to the pool area for most of the day on the left side of the pool. We were always able to get a sunbed and if not the beach is just through the walkway under the rail tracks. There was no sunbeds on the beach but I was happy just laying on my towel.

Not a bad hotel for the money.
Good location for moving around.

First off, such rude bar staff! Couple rude people on reception too. Bar area you were made to feel unwelcome by staff and we were scolded for taking a coffee as we wasn't all inclusive, only half board! Food was awful, spent a lot of money eating elsewhere! Rooms were spotless and cleaners very polite and welcoming, the most welcoming of staff tbh! The shops are great, beach is beautiful but would never return to this hotel.
