Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Village

The hotel was nice. We spent a week here and the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were decent, though more what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel than a 5-star hotel, but our pool view balcony was a strong positive. Said pools were also pretty good if not exceptional. One major plus was the beach, with beautiful sand and lovely calm, clear water. However, the sunbeds are not private to the hotel, so cost extra, and were always completely full by the time we'd finished breakfast (it's a very short walk from beds round the pool instead). The food was satisfactory if, again, not impressive. We only went for half board because it was so cheap that if we only had dinner twice, it would be worth it. Unfortunately, when we went to a nearby restaurant on our second night, rated 4.8 on Google, it was terrible, so we lost all faith in the local area and just went to the buffet every other night. The food was good, but changeable - some nights were great but some were really disappointing. Breakfast also was not quite at the level I'd expect and have seen from other 5-star hotels. Finally, note that the hotel is very child-centric with activities for children aged 1-7, so about 90% of guests were families with small children. It can mean that meals feel a little chaotic and I don't think non-families were having a great time. Also, bear in mind that the majority of guests are German, so consider brushing up on that instead of the Spanish if you want to chat with anyone.

Overall, we wouldn’t come back and prefer the 4* Iberostar Selection Albufera Park to this 5* hotel. Why?

- the food is not great and not 5* (again the other Iberostar had way better food).
- dirty dishes
- we were asked multiple times to give good 5* reviews (one guy at the bar even pressed 5* on my phone for me…) - generally I expect staff to not pressure me to give 5* reviews

We wouldn’t come back

Nice family hotel. Slightly overpriced for what you get but we’ve still been there twice. Main reason is the nice setting, good food and drink selection in combination with the great kids club. Pool and beach work well for families, you’ll always have a space (but need to pay as customary on beaches in Spain for a sunbed). You can go there and just spend a week without having to think about food quality or entertainment etc. it’s not a culinary enlightenment, but you’ll have a good selection of good quality food, and usually fresh grilled salmon etc every evening.

It is our second time in this hotel as a family, although we usually don’t return to places twice. We have an 8 month old baby and this place is amazing for families with small children. It is located on a beautiful beach with shallow water. Has several pools and the hospitality and services are beyond professional: everyone is very welcoming, warm and trying to accommodate even special wishes (like us having a freshly prepared porridge for our baby every evening, just because the annoying mom (me) doesn’t want to use supermarket solutions).

Specific gratitude goes to the beautiful and awesome Virginia serving the green bar during the day: sometimes we have the feeling she can read minds and is anticipating every guests need with a warm smile and perfectly mixed drinks.

So all in all, a beautiful hotel, deserving the 5 stars and a paradise for parents with kids.

Loved the hotel, great food and even better activities. The activities were amazing. There were mandalas painting, water yoga and much more. But it was amazing because me and my sister had Irina as our instructor. She is amazing and she is so kind that even if you’re sad she’ll put a smile on your face. I’m thankful that the hotel has her to animate the kids and the adults.

5 star service in this 5 star hotel. I attended the hotel using a day pass whilst in another iberostar hotel. From the moment we arrived we were treat with a warm and friendly manner that rippled through every staff member we spoke to. From Laura on reception, to Dennis greeting us at breakfast to Pepe who looked after our every need with food and drink, everyone was friendly and their energy was infectious. The bar staff worked tirelessly to look after us, including Antonella whose smile never faded. The facilities are excellent, the views out to the sea are picture perfect but it is the staff who make this hotel an amazing experience. Excellent choice of food, especially at the beach restaurant for the evening buffet and fabulous choice of cocktails which we enjoyed sampling. Thank you for looking after us so well and making us wish we weren’t just there for the day.

We have loved our stay here. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The entertainment team make a massive effort with the children to get them involved. The bar staff are all nice - Miguel was excellent. The hotel is beautiful. Nice pool areas. The burger bar is fab too!

The staff are incredibly welcoming here from the front receptionists, to restaurant staff, to entertaining team, and finally to the management team who greet you daily throughout the resort. It’s definitely a great family resort. My daughter really likes the evening entertainment during our 4 nights stay. Food is pretty good with good variety to keep us from getting bored of the buffet. Location is great as it’s right on the beach and, if you enjoy water sport, we had a great time trying out wind surfing at the water sport shop next door. Overall, we are pretty happy with our stay and would certainly comeback again. If there is one thing I wish the resort could do better is having better “iced” coffee/latte at the restaurant or the cafe near the lobby.

Excellent! 5 nights with 6-year-old twins. The food and staff/service are highlights at this resort. Beach and clear ocean are picturesque. Resort has a nice atmosphere, not the typical mega resort vibe of various other all-inclusive properties. Coffee is great. Activities for kids are excellent, specifically the staff members Roby and Belen, who were excellent and bonded with our kids and also put on a great show. The kids were ultra excited to go to "star camp" daily to see the two staffers, thus giving parents several hours of time. During our stay, almost all guests had young kids, others seemed to be here for bicycle tours.
Unfortunately the swimming pools were way too cold during our April visit (currently pools are not heated). Despite being unused by guests, lifeguards were on duty which was a good safety measure with the army of tots running around. The ocean temperature was fine for short swims. Indoor pool was available but we didn't use it.
Overall a great vacation and would definitely stay here again.
