Reviews
Myself and my Boyfriend stayed at Catalonia for our Anniversary. We enjoyed the large pool, selection of food, cleanliness and ease of access throughout the hotel. However, the majority of staff there are not LGBT friendly. They made their opinions and judgements very clear to us.
The dining staff in their restaurant repeatedly asked us “have you paid, have you paid” as we were leaving. On one occasion we were chased out by a lady to “make sure you’ve paid”. Although we had already charged to the room.
Their restaurant have a “dress code” which we completely understand and can respect. On one night we went down for dinner and were denied entry due to the fact I was wearing a vest top. I went back to my room and changed and was allowed in. I was then very annoyed to find 4 men walking round wearing a vest top. Over the next few days there were more and more men wearing vest tops that I was denied entry for wearing.
One night I was going down to the pool and found myself stuck in the lift. I used the emergency phone inside the lift which contacted the front desk. They assured me someone was on their way to help me. I was waiting 30 minutes and had no response. I then heard people outside trying to get the doors open for around 5 minutes and they weren’t answering me. They then went off so I used the phone again and the lady at the desk said “they can’t find the lift” even though I heard people trying to get the doors open. Another 15 minutes or so had passed and someone came to open the doors. I then had to jump out of the broken lift (pictured).
Inside our room (308), in the corner by the air con, the paint was peeling off of the walls and the air con was discoloured a tar yellow. Unfortunately we did not get a picture of this.
We will not be staying here again.
The downsides for us were the room was tired and needed renovating. Very dated. The pool was freezing so hardly anyone went in it , such a shame. Smelt a lot of cannabis on the premises .
Loungers round pool broken or cracked . Kids disco wasn't on once in a week . Room dusty under beds on arrival . So had to clean room ourselves . Maid generally coming 4.30 - 5 30 in day to so called clean rooms. Make sure to double check doors when closing them going put. As ours had to be tugged at to close fully. Reception had no interest in our complaints . Wouldn't stay here again. More bags hotels in tenerife are cleaner
On one occasion, I was startled awake at 2 AM due to their activities, which included the misuse of a fire extinguisher and damage to hotel property. This led to a very unpleasant end to our vacation, as we lost two nights of sleep.
While I commend the hotel staff for their friendliness, I found their response to our situation lacking. Despite raising our concerns with management, there was no offer of compensation or resolution, which was disappointing.
As someone who travels frequently, I understand that not every accommodation can be a five-star experience. However, I would advise families with children to consider alternative options, as our stay was marred by the behavior of those next door.
In closing, I hope the hotel can address these issues for future guests. Thank you for considering my feedback.
As you walk out if you go left you will end up in Playas Las Americas.
If you go right you will end up in Los Cristianos.
Plenty to do with great transportation and transfers available near by.
Most staff are very helpful and polite.
I dealt with a lovely lady called Monica who was very accommodating and welcoming throughout my stay always greeting guests with a smile along with really going the extra mile.
The hotel itself is clean and has fantastic facilities such as a roof top pool area, a gym and great dining options.
Having breakfast and dinner here is completely worth it fresh good quality with much to choose from.
There are normally 2 chefs also making fresh pancakes or pasta in the evening if you do not fancy what is laid out.
Rooms are more than a fair size for what you pay and most come with some sort of view.
Overall I had a lovely stay and I have nothing bad to say I would highly recommend this hotel.
You really do get what you pay for here.
Overall would recommend 100% and will stay again!
The breakfast buffet is amazing, so many options and staff are always attentive and helpful.
The dinner is more of a hit or miss with the food, some of it seems to be dry under the hot lamps but not a major issue.
The pool is lovely. However, the one particular old ish life guard is pretty aggressive. His tone towards some guests can come across as rude. He shouts at kids with balls in the pools, however other life guards let this happen, so it can be confusing which rules to go by and which to not.
The room was lovely. Very spacious and nice bathroom, with a lovely mini fridge. Only problem with the room was that there was only one plug socket which made it very annoying to charge our multiple gadgets. However it wasn’t a major problem for us.
The cleaners always make sure the room is perfect every day and make the beds to perfection.
The entertainment is okay, it’s more aimed at young children and I think it goes on a bit too late. Sometimes the entertainment goes on past 12am and it kept us up for a while, however we knew this before coming so can’t really blame hotel, just maybe turn down music the later it gets?
